Ladies and Gentlemen: HER
Prologue
The rain relentlessly pounded against the windows of Nitara’s penthouse, echoing the turmoil within her. Below, the city shimmered, a million lights unaware of the darkness suffocating her spirit. She swirled the golden liquid in her glass, the ice producing a somber jingle. It had been ten years. Ten years since Nivin Varma had left, abandoning Tara and Nitara to confront the harsh truths of the world alone.
Nitara ( FL)
“He chose her,” she murmured, the words tasting like soot.
Tara ( FL mom)
“Nitara, please,” Tara’s voice came from behind her, soft yet resolute.
Tara ( FL mom)
“Don’t let him shape who you are.”
Nitara ( FL)
“He already has, Ma,” she responded, turning to face her mother.
Nitara ( FL)
“He revealed to me that love is… a deception. A vulnerability.”
Tara ( FL mom)
“Love isn’t a weakness, beta. It’s… intricate.”
Nitara ( FL)
“Intricate is merely another term for excruciating,” she retorted, taking a bold gulp of her drink.
Nitara ( FL)
“And I’ve endured enough suffering to fill a lifetime.”
The years morphed into a blur of constant work, burning the midnight oil, fighting her way to the pinnacle. She constructed an empire, an impenetrable wall around her heart. Success became her protection, power her defense. No one could touch her. Except…Samay.
Nitara ( FL)
“I had feelings for him, Ma,” she confessed, her voice hardly a whisper. “I truly did.”
Tara ( FL mom)
“I understand, beta.” Tara’s eyes bore a profound sorrow.
Nitara ( FL)
“And he… he discarded it all. For Riya. My friend.” The word oozed with bitterness.
Tara ( FL mom)
“Some individuals are unable to appreciate genuine value,” Tara replied softly.
Nitara ( FL)
“Their loss,” Nitara asserted, her voice sharpening.
Nitara ( FL)
“From this point forward, love is a risk I can’t take.”
Nitara’s eyes wandered back to the city lights.
She had morphed into a specter, a ****** CEO whose name was spoken with reverence and dread, but whose face remained a mystery. She preferred it this way. It was more secure in the shadows.
A knock resonated throughout the penthouse.
twinkle ( fl assistant)
“Madam, Mr. Romanov has arrived,” communicated through the intercom.
Nitara’s breath caught in her throat. Rudra Romanov. The Wolf of Wall Street. Her equal. Her rival. Or… perhaps something more? Their paths had recently intermingled, a fierce confrontation of titans, the air igniting with every exchanged glance and every pointed remark.
Nitara ( FL)
“Show him in,” she commanded, her tone revealing nothing.
The doors opened, unveiling a figure as formidable as his reputation suggested. His dark, piercing eyes locked onto hers from across the room.
Rudra (ML)
“Nitara Varma,” he said, his voice a deep growl.
Rudra (ML)
“Or should I refer to you as… the ******?”
Nitara ( FL)
A gradual smile formed on Nitara’s lips. “Mr. Romanov. To what do I owe this… visit?”
Rudra (ML)
“Business, naturally,” he replied, advancing further into the room. “Though I suspect our… partnership will be anything but enjoyable.”
Nitara ( FL)
“I wouldn’t want it any other way,” she shot back.
He chuckled, a sound that sent a jolt of electricity through her.
Rudra (ML)
“You’re a formidable woman, Nitara.”
Nitara ( FL)
“And you, Mr. Romanov,” she countered, holding his gaze with unwavering confidence, “are playing with danger.”
Rudra (ML)
“Danger,” he murmured, his eyes sparkling with an inscrutable emotion. “Perhaps I enjoy the heat.”
He stepped closer, and an unusual tension enveloped the air, a silent war of determination.
Rudra (ML)
“Tell me, Nitara,” he whispered, his voice dangerously low. “What do you genuinely want?”
Nitara’s breath faltered. She understood her desires. But could she summon the courage to pursue them? Could she risk reopening her heart, even for a man like Rudra Romanov? The answer, she realized, balanced precariously on a knife’s edge. And as she gazed into his intense eyes, she recognized her meticulously built world was on the verge of collapsing.
Nitara ( FL)
“Desire,” she finally exhaled, her voice tinged with challenge, “is a perilous thing, Mr. Romanov. Especially when it’s… reciprocated.”
Nitara knew, with a chilling certainty, that her life was about to change irrevocably. But was this change a destructive inferno, or the dawn of something unexpectedly beautiful? She didn’t know the answer. All she knew was that Rudra Romanov was a dangerous game, one she wasn’t sure she was ready to play. But she had a feeling she had no choice.
