The fate between us

“Emily, this is J— , he is a young CEO of White Company.” i cant hear what is my mom talking, my ear rings a lot because im nervous. But i just pretend that I understand lol.

“J—, this is Emily, she is a dentist.”

“Emily, i have something to tell you.” Mom suddenly speaks.

I stare at her full of curiosity.

“We have planned to marry you two. Since you dont have any boyfriend and he dont have a girlfriend too.” She continues.

I cant understand one of her word at all. I cant believe it she wants me to m-marry??

So, her friends is that jerk’s parents? Wait, hold on i cant accept this situation! OH MY GOD.

My mouth froze for awhile. Im so speechless!

“Its not okay to grow old and not marrying yet. All of your friends are already married. They’ve even got babies you remember?” She add.

“But my roommates-“ i say

“You think you’re the same age as your roommates? You’re already 26! Your roommates are 20-23!”

Damn it. I forgot that we’re not the same age. But i dont think 26 is old already🤷🏼‍♀️.

“Its okay, maybe she didn’t ready yet to have a marriage.” Mrs brown speaks.

“Are you okay to have a marriage?” Mrs brown asks to me and his son.

“Its okay, just marry. They will love each other” dad continues.

Dad and Mr brown laugh happily. I dont even know what so funny? This is not a unecessary topic! This is an important topic! It’s about who im going to spend my whole life with! Im not gonna spend my life with some stranger that i just met twice and not even have a feelings towards him! Please understand me mom, dad, Mr and Mrs brown!

“James, you okay if we continue this marriage?” Asks mom

He nodds. Gosh! Why are you nodding?

The dinner already end. Both parents are already left too. Im waiting for cab to come. Great he’s here too standing so straight like a robot. I suddenly come near and ask him.

“Have really taught about this? This is important.”

He just nodds. Don’t he have mouth?

“What about you?” He says

“I dont know, i cant decline this. My mom have been supporting me all the time. Maybe it’s time for me to repay her kindness?” I say

“How about we have a divorce after 2 years?” I recommend

He walks away and get in his car. Wait, he has a car? Then why is he standing there waiting for someone to fetch him?

He drives away just like that.

Not a gentleman at all! He dont even asks me for a ride! This is the attitude what i will see all my 2 years?!

But thank god he accepts the deal! Im not gonna end up with him forever!

Day by day, month by month. My parents, his parents, James and me have a meeting a lot. Know each other.
