Stepfather's Secret
The candlelit ballroom was abuzz with the cream of society, all gathered to witness the union of Jeon Jungkook, the infamous Mafia boss, and Lee Iu, a stunning beauty with connections to the highest echelons of power.
As Jungkook stood at the altar, his piercing gaze swept over the crowd, his eyes lingering on the faces of his loyal associates and the rival families who had come to pay their respects.
But his attention was drawn back to the woman standing beside him. Lee Iu's hand trembled slightly as she placed her ring on his finger, her eyes locked on his with a mixture of determination and desperation.
Jungkook's thoughts, however, were elsewhere. He was thinking about the business deal that had brought them to this moment. Iu's family connections and wealth would secure his position as the most powerful Mafia boss in the city.
As they exchanged their vows, Jungkook's eyes flicked to the young man standing in the front row, watching the ceremony with a mixture of sadness and resignation. Kim Taehyung, Iu's son, was a reminder that this marriage was not just about power and wealth, but also about family and responsibility.
The sound of shattering glass broke the spell, and Jungkook's eyes narrowed as he turned to face the commotion. One of the waiters had dropped a tray of champagne glasses, and the crowd gasped in shock.
In that moment, Jungkook's gaze met Taehyung's, and he felt a jolt of electricity run through his veins. It was as if time had stopped, and all that existed was the two of them, locked in a silent understanding.
But the moment passed, and Jungkook's mask slipped back into place. He turned to Iu, his voice low and husky. "Shall we?" he asked, offering his arm.
Iu smiled, her eyes sparkling with tears, and together they walked down the aisle, surrounded by the cheers and applause of their guests.
Little did they know, their union would set off a chain reaction of events that would change their lives forever.
Chapter 1:
The days passed quickly, and Jungkook settled into his new life with Iu and Taehyung. The mansion was opulent and grand, with sprawling gardens and a private movie theater. Jungkook's associates and loyal soldiers were always present, lurking in the shadows and watching his every move.
Taehyung, on the other hand, seemed to be struggling to adjust to his new life. He was quiet and reserved, often retreating to his room to escape the chaos of the mansion. Jungkook noticed that Taehyung seemed to be avoiding him, and he couldn't help but feel a pang of curiosity.
One evening, as they sat down to dinner, Jungkook decided to break the ice. "So, Taehyung," he said, his voice low and smooth. "How are you finding life in the mansion?"
Taehyung looked up, his eyes locking onto Jungkook's. For a moment, they just stared at each other, the tension between them palpable.
"It's...different," Taehyung said finally, his voice barely above a whisper.
Jungkook raised an eyebrow. "Different?" he repeated.
Taehyung nodded, his eyes dropping to his plate. "Yes. I'm not used to all the...security and the staff. It's overwhelming."
Jungkook leaned back in his chair, his eyes never leaving Taehyung's face. "I see," he said. "Well, you'll get used to it. This is your home now."
Taehyung looked up, his eyes flashing with a hint of defiance. "Is it?" he asked, his voice dripping with skepticism.
Jungkook's eyes narrowed, his grip on his fork tightening. "What do you mean?" he asked, his voice low and menacing.
Taehyung's eyes dropped to his plate again, and he muttered something under his breath.
Jungkook's ears perked up, and he leaned forward, his eyes blazing with intensity. "What did you say?" he demanded.
Taehyung looked up, his eyes wide with fear. "I-I said, it doesn't feel like home," he stammered.
Jungkook's face relaxed, and he leaned back in his chair again. "I see," he said. "Well, that's understandable. It'll take time to adjust."
The rest of the dinner was tense and awkward, with Jungkook and Taehyung exchanging stilted conversation. But Jungkook couldn't shake off the feeling that there was something more to Taehyung's words, something that he wasn't quite grasping.
As the night drew to a close, Jungkook retired to his study, his mind whirling with thoughts of Taehyung and the strange, inexplicable connection they seemed to share.
Little did he know, their lives were about to become even more complicated.
