The Power of One

The Power of One

Illusion of companionship

In a small, quiet town, once there was a girl named Meera. She wasn’t the kind to draw attention to herself or chase the spotlight. Instead, she found peace in solitude, surrounded by the pages of her journal, her thoughts, and the comfort of her own company. For Meera, the world didn’t need to notice her; she was content just existing.

But like most of us, Meera had once believed in the magic of companionship. She believed in friends who stayed, in families that were always there, and in the idea that love could heal everything. She thought that when life knocked her down, someone would be there to help her back up.

But soon, life taught her the ugly truth.

Meera was the friend who gave her everything. She listened patiently as her friends vented their frustrations, even staying up late helping them solve their problems, even when her own heart felt heavy. She didn’t mind tho; she believed in loyalty and trust, in the kind of love that meant putting others first. Yet, over time, the reality of her relationships began to wear her down. People stayed as long as they needed her. When they were fine again, they used to leave. And just like that, she was alone—surrounded by faces but disconnected from hearts.

It wasn’t until another painful betrayal that Meera began to understand the truth. It was an eye opener. After an argument with someone she thought she could trust, she found herself sitting by her window, staring at the vast sky, feeling like she was drowning in an ocean of loneliness. She wasn’t alone in the room, it was rather full, but the emptiness she felt was consuming.

“Why is it so hard to find someone who’ll stay?” she whispered, her voice trembling. "Why does everyone leave when you need them most? Why does this always happen? Why always me? ”

Her tears were hot against her skin, but they didn’t come from just sadness. They came from a deep feeling of emptiness—the kind that only exists when you realize that, despite everything you do, no one truly sees or cares. You are just another person in their life.

That night, she opened her journal and let the words pour out. Her pen moved quickly, as though it was trying to keep up with her racing thoughts:

"Agar nahi ho sakta, toh chhod do saath,

Mujhe chahiye sirf apna saath,

Arrey aise saath ka kya faayda,

Jo saath ho kar bhi, kabhi hua nahi mera"

With each word, Meera began to feel something inside her shift. The tears slowly dried, the ache in her chest softened. For the first time, she realized that she didn’t need anyone to fill her heart or prove her worth. If people couldn’t stay, she would find her own way. And she would be stronger because of it.

It was life's way of showing her the path, the ugly truth, a life everyone has.
