ALLISON POV

"So... not only do you like a girl, but one who you never even had a conversation with?" Kimberly said, trying to make sense of the situation.

"NO!" I retorted, standing up from the edge of Kim's bed. We were in her room, and she was interrogating me on why I'd been acting weird. I already called my dad and I plan to stay the night, he is always cool with me staying over with Kim.

She laughed at my response, lying on the bed as she set her phone down to face me fully. "Oh no? You are not able to stop thinking about her, you think she is cute, and every time you bring her up you blush. I mean girl, look at your face right now." She said, her face plastered with a 'know it all' smirk. I rolled my eyes, but couldn't help but look at the mirror, not realizing how red my face was until I saw it. I mean I could feel the heat rush to my face, but does she make me this flustered just by talking about her..?

I slowly sat back down on the edge of the bed, putting my hands on my face. "Kim... what am I going to do.." I say, sighing deeply into my hands. I heard a few chuckles from Kimberly, prompting me to turn around. "What's so funny?" I asked, slightly annoyed.

"God Allie, I would have never taken you for such a hopeless romantic." She said with another chuckle, continuing to scroll through her phone. "Don't do anything rash, like asking her out or something. Nothing good comes out of rushed feelings." She said, setting her phone down again and giving me a more serious look.

I stared at her for a second, then looked down at my hands, fidgeting with my fingers. Something else really made me nervous, yet she just totally didn't even acknowledge it, the fact Allison had never come out or anything, should be sudden to her.

"S-So... you don't mind that I.. Like girls..?" I managed to say, looking back up at her. "I mean. You don't sound shocked at all, or weirded out or anything." I rambled, obviously nervous from what she could say. After a few moments of silence, she sighed softly, sitting up a little more straight.

"Allie, would I be giving you advice or would you still be in my room if I minded?" She said with a small smile, shaking her head slightly. "Stop being silly," she said, her face serious but with a smile. I held back a few tears, feeling relieved and as if a weight had been thrown off my back. I jumped into the bed, hugging Kimberly tightly as she gasped a bit in surprise, but hugged back pretty quickly after. I whispered 'Thank you' to her a few times before letting go of her.

I rolled over to the other side of the bed, a soft smile on my face as the relief of being able to talk about it seemed to wash over me even more. "And... this stays between us right..? You won't tell anyone.?" I asked, having to ask even though I pretty much knew the answer.

She rolled her eyes playfully, her focus still on her phone. "Of course Allison, why would I tell people about this?" She said, looking at me. "Now stop asking questions and pick a movie." She said, tossing me the remote to her TV.

————————————————————————————————————————

The weekend flew by a lot faster than I wished, but what could I expect? After Friday night, me and Kimberly talked like normal as always. I haven't gotten around to telling my dad anything, I'm just a bit scared still, plus I'm not 100% sure of my feelings I guess.

I mean, it's very unlike me to fall in love in just 3 nights, let alone to a girl. I think I need to let my thoughts process, maybe it's all just in my head. I mean, think of it like this

I have never fallen for a girl before, sure I've found them attractive, but who doesn't? And no, I've never held feelings for a guy either, but that doesn't matter in this conversation.

UGHHH, this feels like some cheesy love story. This one just... doesn't look like it will end well for me.

Let's stick to the facts. One of the most popular girls in the school, me, likes a lonely nerd, a random girl. First, rumors will spread like wildfire, then once everyone knows, the popular groups will start to question if I had liked them at some point. Then finally, persecution. In the end, I'll be on the same level as the person I like.

Maybe that's not too bad?

Yes, it would, shut up me.

I stare at the clock, 10:54 pm.

I should get some sleep, I don't want to overthink too much. Besides, the project starts tomorrow, meaning I'll be able to spend time with Magnolia. Sure, it'll be about the project, but I can also find out a lot more about her while working and studying together.

————————————————————————————————————————

I'm at school again, and something feels... off.

I mean, immediately as I walked in, a group of girls that I'd seen hanging around Magnolia were staring at me.

I shrugged it off, walking down the hall to meet with my friends. As I sit, a few of them turn to me and greet me as usual. I pulled my phone out and scrolled through Instagram when I suddenly heard my name a few times from Juliana, a newer friend of ours I met in Math class. I meet her gaze, sighing. "Sorry, I didn't hear, what?"

She chuckled a bit, rolling her eyes. "Well duh, probably cause your phone has all your focus.." she said with slight sarcasm, but I knew she was just trying to be funny. After a moment, she spoke again. "We were talking about the football team, specifically Jeremiah. God, he's just so... dreamy.." she said, sighing. Her words made me cringe internally, but I played along and nodded.

"I get what you mean," I said plainly back, bringing my focus back to my phone. I heard a slight scoff from her, as she continued to speak. "Do you have your eyes on someone right now, Allison?" she asked, a small smile on her face.

I looked back up at her, shaking my head. "Nope, I do not," I said plainly, trying to get off the subject. Besides Magnolia, I had no interest in dating, but if she kept pressing me, I knew I might get a little upset.

"No one...? Really? There must be someone?" She kept pressing on, making me grow more irritated. Kim saw this and stepped into the conversation. "She just has no interest in dating anyone right now, besides, can we blame her? Most of these boys are immature anyways.." Kim said as I gave an appreciative smile at her before returning my focus to my phone.

The table eventually changed the subject, but I could tell by the look on Juliana's face that she hadn't dropped it just yet, as she kept eyeing me now and then with a confused look as if she were trying to read my mind.

Why did we ever invite her to our group?

The day dragged on and it bothered me a lot. I mean, I just now learned I was into girls and I'm 16, meanwhile, this random girl we just met last week seemed to be finding out a heck of a lot quicker than I did... I need to get her off my trail...I need a distraction, just something to get her suspensions away...

Why am I overthinking this, she probably just thinks I like a guy and am hiding it, there's no way she knows I like a girl. Besides, even if she did, she couldn't prove it, who is everyone gonna believe more? A new girl spreading rumors or an already popular girl everyone knows?

Whatever, next period is lunch, then I have History. Luckily, Juliana has a different lunch period than I do, so I won't have to deal with her staring at me for a good part of 30 minutes.

As the bell rings, I make my way down the hall to the lunch room. I take my time as I walk, not in a rush to get to the lunch hall. I zoned out a bit as I walked around the school not realizing I had been walking for a while at this point, so I finally made my way back to the lunch hall.

As I sit at the table, Kim looks at me a bit worried, wondering why I took forever. "Girl, where have you been? It's been like.. 10 minutes since the bell rang." She asked as I shrugged a bit

"It's nothing," I said but gave her the 'let's talk about this later' look. So, she dropped it for now and continued the conversation with the rest of the table.

I gave a small look around the table, realizing a small fact, I never really talked to any of them besides Kim. The thought made me feel a bit worried inside, yet I couldn't pinpoint why. It was almost as if I was forgetting something important, but I brushed it off for now. But the thought lingered, despite being the most popular in the group, I was an outsider in it. No one really knew me besides Kim.

The bell ringing interrupted my thoughts, and I realized I zoned out for the rest of lunch. I grabbed my bags and walked towards my next class as Kim followed behind, visibly worried.

"Girl, are you sure you're okay? You were 10 minutes late to lunch, then you zone out for the rest of it?" She asked, touching my head to see if I had a fever. I shook my head slightly as she removed her hand, and I sighed slightly.

"Just in thought today, we'll talk about it later, yeah?" I said, her face still etched with concern. I smiled softly, trying to reassure her. "I promise it's not too serious, okay? Just thinking too much." I said, which seemed to calm her down slightly.

"Okay, I trust you. Should I come over to yours today?" She asked as we stopped outside of Kim's next class. I nodded, feeling a bit better. "Of course, I'll see you then." I said, waving and walking to my next class, history.

Word Count Without A/N - 1770

A/N: Hate to leave y'all on a cliffhanger (If you can even call it that). No, the next chapter won't immediately skip to Allison's house, we still need to stop by history class to see what the two will work on for their project, and their plan to complete it. And y'all ever have that one friend that when you hear something or need to talk, you just give them that look? lmk!

That's all I really have to say that's important, but on a non important note.

I need music recommendations! My music taste is SOOOO shallow, so I wouldn't mind some of y'alls music to steal.

Again, thanks for reading!
