"Sister, I understand you're hurt by my engagement, but it wasn't necessary to ruin my dress" Lilly shouted.
Everyone turned their faces towards Lilly, who looked very aggrieved, and the wine stain on her dress gave her a very pitiful appearance, presenting Mafalda as a vicious woman. Velasco walked the distance to approach his daughters with long strides.
"Mafalda, who do you think you are to do this!" Velasco shouted.
"Dad, I swear I didn't do it" Mafalda said, very worried.
Her words were useless because Velasco called the security personnel and Mafalda was escorted out amidst the mocking looks on the faces of those present, while Lilly nestled in Joaquin's arms.
"I don't understand why she behaves that way" Lilly said amidst her sobs.
Joaquin watched with remorse as Mafalda was escorted away, and although he wanted to say something to defend her because he knew she was innocent, his interest in maintaining his status was stronger than helping his childhood friend.
"It's not your fault, my love" Joaquin replied.
While Lilly changed into a dress more beautiful than the previous one, Mafalda, who thought she would be escorted to the exit, was pushed to the wine cellar located in the basement of the house that the family rented to celebrate the party.
"Don't leave me here, please!" Mafalda shouted, hitting the door hard.
Mafalda, due to an incident in her childhood, was afraid of being in dark and enclosed spaces and began to feel tachycardia.
"Stay there and stop bothering" Velasco shouted.
"Dad, I promise to leave and never come back" Mafalda pleaded.
"Mafalda, I can't risk you doing something else to sabotage your sister's party."
"DAD, PLEASE DON'T LEAVE ME HERE!" Mafalda shouted.
Velasco ignored her pleas and, on the contrary, went to the security personnel, ignoring that Mafalda was afraid of the dark and that in the past they had discovered that she had a mitral valve prolapse and that an emotion like this could even cause tachycardia and that if it was not controlled, her heart could even collapse.
"Don't let anyone enter this area" Velasco ordered.
It was a stormy night and Mafalda screamed in desperation because she was very afraid of lightning, however, everyone around her ignored her, and unfortunately she fell into the trap set by her sister Lilly and was now locked in that dark basement for two hours.
"SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE!" Mafalda shouted, hitting the door.
Her fists were bruised from hitting the door so much and no matter how much Mafalda shouted, because of the storm and the celebration party of her sister's engagement that was taking place on the upper floor of that house, no one could hear her.
"Boss, bad news, we can't find her" said a security employee.
Joshua put on an expression of concern, because because he tried to alert the police to what was happening in that house, he lost valuable minutes of time and now Mafalda was missing.
"Keep looking because she must be in the vicinity" Joshua ordered discreetly.
The men who accompanied him discreetly deployed around the area, while the insidious Lilly and her parents Velasco and Cecilia celebrated her engagement to Joaquin Guzman.
"I'm so happy for you" Cecilia said.
Lilly hugged her mother and smiled with emotion and for none of those present was it alien to the fact that the adopted sister of the Alcazar family was not part of the celebration because she was taken away escorted by the security personnel when she tried to sabotage the party.
"And to think that Mafalda almost ruined my engagement party" Lilly said, holding back the urge to cry.
Velasco frowned, remembering the incident that occurred an hour ago when his adopted daughter tried to sabotage Lilly's party and he had to lock her in the basement for the rest of the celebration.
"Let's not talk more about that person who only knows how to embarrass us" Velasco said.
Mafalda's tachycardia instead of calming down was worse until she felt as if her heart could not bear it and began to collapse and as her consciousness was lost, she heard the distant voice of a man which surprised her to be in that place, because she always assumed that he hated her.
"Mafalda, darling, resist, medical help is already on its way" Joshua said with concern.
As Mafalda lost consciousness, she heard the reassuring voice of Joshua, whom she had known all her life, but who did not know that he had feelings for her and wondered why she was so blind.
"I'm here, so don't be afraid" Joshua said kindly.
Joshua held her in his arms and lifted her up and as he walked towards the exit everyone watched as the girl who recently made a scene was now being carried in her arms in very bad condition.
"Why are you helping me?" Mafalda asked with a thread of voice.
"When you feel better I'm going to explain it to you" Joshua replied.
Mafalda told herself that if she was going to die it was nice to be in his arms and feel that at least there was one person in this world who loved her, she closed her eyes and unfortunately did not open them again because she did not survive, although her soul did not and with much regret she could see how this proud man hit the walls and lamented having arrived late, and although she wanted to console him, she realized that she could no longer do anything.
"I swear that all those who hurt you are going to pay" Joshua said amidst much anger.
During the following five years Joshua unleashed his wrath destroying the Alcazar family and his cousin Joaquin, he became a ruthless person, the problem is that in the end he could not escape justice and ended up in jail being sentenced to death for his crimes.
"If I had a second chance I'm sure I could save you" Joshua said before dying.
Mafalda felt someone hitting her on the back, she was in a resting position at her desk and when she woke up she realized that she was in a classroom of her old high school.
"Mafalda wake up because the professor has arrived."
Mafalda felt her heart tremble because her dear friend Briana Leal, who died when they were in high school due to an allergic reaction, was in front of her at that moment.
"Briana?" Mafalda asked in amazement.
Mafalda could not believe what she was seeing because an 18-year-old version of Briana was watching her with curiosity, and she could not help but hug her because if it was a dream she did not want to wake up.
"Friend, you don't know how much I've missed you" Mafalda said on the verge of tears.
"Mafalda, you're embarrassing me" Briana replied.
