A Quiet Night at the Dorm
The night had fallen, and the sound of soft music echoed from the speakers in the BTS dorm. The members were all gathered in the living room, each absorbed in their own world—some watching TV, others scrolling through their phones. But Y/N, who had stayed longer than usual, was perched on the armrest of the couch, playfully teasing Jungkook about his lack of spontaneity.
"You've really never done something totally off the wall, huh?" Y/N asked, raising an eyebrow, a mischievous grin spreading across her face.
"Not really," Jungkook replied with a shrug, though his eyes betrayed a hint of interest. "I guess I prefer being... careful."
Y/N tilted her head, studying him. "Careful? Pfft. That's so boring!" she teased, poking his side. "One of these days, I'm going to get you to do something totally reckless."
The teasing moment was interrupted when Jin entered the room, holding a plate of snacks.
"Ah, Y/N, still here?" Jin asked with a warm smile, setting the plate down on the table. "I see you've successfully turned Jungkook into your personal project."
Y/N laughed, sitting up a little straighter. "You know it! He’s the hardest one to convince, but I’m getting there. He'll be eating junk food and doing karaoke in no time."
Jin chuckled, shaking his head. "Good luck with that. Kook's a bit of a workaholic. But he’s not the only one. We all could use a little fun sometimes."
“True,” Y/N agreed, picking up a chip. “You guys are always so serious. What’s the point of working all the time if you don’t have some fun, too?”
“Exactly!” Jimin chimed in from across the room, his voice full of playful energy. “I’m all for taking a break, but Jungkook over there doesn’t know how to relax. We should plan something, like a night out or a random trip.”
Y/N’s eyes lit up at the idea. “Yes! That sounds like the perfect plan. We’ll make Jungkook enjoy himself.”
Jungkook, who had been quiet, glanced at Y/N and then at the rest of the members, his expression neutral. He wasn’t entirely opposed to the idea of hanging out, but something about the way Y/N kept pushing him to let loose made him uneasy.
“I don’t know about that,” Jungkook said, raising a hand. “You guys know how packed my schedule is. I don’t have time for—”
Before he could finish, Y/N’s eyes narrowed playfully. “See? That’s exactly what I’m talking about. Always working, always busy! You need a break. You can’t be serious all the time, Jungkook.”
There was a pause, and then Jin, sensing a shift in the conversation, grinned. “Maybe she’s right. We could use a little more fun around here.”
As the conversation continued, Y/N’s carefree energy bounced from one member to another. It was easy to forget that, behind her childlike humor and lighthearted teasing, there was more to her than anyone realized
Later That Evening – A Quiet Conversation
After most of the members had gone to bed, Jungkook lingered by the window, staring out at the city lights. His thoughts weren’t so much on the conversation earlier as they were on Y/N. She had a way of making him feel both at ease and on edge at the same time. It was a strange combination that he couldn’t quite shake.
The door creaked open, and Y/N stepped in quietly, her soft footsteps barely audible on the wooden floor. She noticed him by the window and smiled, walking over to join him.
“You look deep in thought,” she said, leaning against the wall beside him. “What’s on your mind?”
Jungkook looked at her, momentarily caught off guard by how easily she seemed to slip into his space. She was so unassuming, but there was an intensity in her eyes when she wasn’t playing around, something that hinted at a hidden depth.
“Just thinking about... things,” Jungkook replied, avoiding eye contact. He wasn’t sure how much to reveal. His life was complicated, and Y/N was a part of that complication now.
“You know, you’re really hard to read, Jungkook,” Y/N remarked, her voice teasing yet somehow soft. “One minute you’re all serious, and the next, you’re showing me that little smile of yours that I know you don’t show everyone.”
Jungkook stiffened. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Y/N smirked, clearly not believing him. “Come on. Don’t be so mysterious. Everyone has their layers. I just want to know you better, that’s all.”
There was an edge to her words that made Jungkook pause. She seemed to see right through him—something that shouldn’t have been possible. It was disorienting, yet he couldn’t help but feel drawn to her.
“You’re always like this, aren’t you?” Jungkook said, half-joking. “So... open.”
Y/N shrugged nonchalantly. “I just think people are more interesting when they’re real. When they don’t hide behind walls.”
Jungkook sighed, leaning his forehead against the cool glass of the window. He felt a strange sense of unease creeping in. He wanted to trust her, but there was something about her that didn’t sit right, and it wasn’t her fault. It was his own world that he kept buried deep, hidden away from everyone—even from her.
“You know,” Y/N said quietly, “I get the feeling you’re hiding something. It’s like you have this... this wall around you, like you’re trying to protect something. Or maybe someone.”
Jungkook froze at her words. His eyes shot to her, but Y/N was already looking away, her gaze focused on the stars outside the window.
“Maybe you're right,” he muttered, his voice low. “Maybe I am. But it’s not something you need to worry about.”
Y/N didn’t press further, and for a moment, the room was filled with a heavy silence. Despite her lighthearted attitude, Jungkook could sense the weight of her words. She wasn’t as carefree as she let on. There was more to her, just like there was more to him.
The Next Day – An Unexpected Call
The morning light filtered through the windows of the dorm, and Jungkook was already up, preparing for the day ahead. His phone buzzed on the counter, and he reached for it, expecting it to be from the manager or the company.
Instead, it was an unknown number.
His finger hovered over the screen, hesitation creeping in. He didn’t recognize the number, but a strange sense of urgency washed over him. With a quick glance at the others who were still asleep, he answered the call.
“Hello?”
A low, familiar voice came through the line, one that sent a chill down his spine. “Jungkook... we need to talk. Now.”
The Morning After
Y/N sat in the kitchen, sipping on her coffee, her mind racing with unanswered questions. Jungkook had disappeared last night without so much as a word, and while Jin had assured her it was nothing serious, there was something about the whole situation that didn't sit right. Her intuition, which she’d learned to trust over the years, was telling her that there was more going on than anyone was letting on.
She looked down at her phone, the screen still lit with the message from Jin:
"Kook’s just handling something. He’ll be back soon."
But Y/N wasn’t convinced. She had seen the look in his eyes before he left—the way he avoided her gaze, the tension in his posture.
