The Breakup Scheme

Elysia paced back and forth in her living room, her mind racing with thoughts of Alaric and Isolde’s confrontation at the café. The more she replayed their conversation, the more determined she became. She couldn’t just sit back and let Isolde control Alaric’s life, and it was time to put their plan into action.

Geralt, sprawled on the couch with a video game controller in hand, glanced up. “You look like you’re about to burst into flames. What’s the plan, genius?”

Elysia stopped pacing, her excitement bubbling over. “I’ve decided we need a more direct approach. It’s time to break Alaric and Isolde up—once and for all.”

Geralt’s eyes widened with enthusiasm. “I love it! What do you have in mind?”

“First, we need to gather evidence of Isolde’s manipulative behavior,” Elysia said, her voice steady. “If Alaric sees her true colors, he’ll have no choice but to reconsider their relationship.”

“Sounds smart! But how do we do that?” Geralt leaned forward, intrigued.

“We can create a series of scenarios where Isolde’s true self shines through,” Elysia explained, pacing again. “We’ll need witnesses, like his friends, to back up our claims.”

“Got it. We’ll catch her in the act,” Geralt nodded, his competitive spirit ignited. “What’s the first scenario?”

Elysia took a deep breath, her creativity kicking in. “The next charity event. It’s a perfect opportunity for Isolde to showcase her true colors. I’ll bet she’ll be all about the attention and less about the cause.”

Geralt grinned, his fingers tapping away on his phone. “I’ll invite a few of Alaric’s friends. We can stage a little scene to make sure they see how she acts in public.”

“Exactly!” Elysia said, her heart racing with excitement. “We need to catch her being rude or dismissive, preferably in front of Alaric’s friends. That’ll shake him up.”

“And if it doesn’t?” Geralt asked, arching an eyebrow.

Elysia paused, considering. “Then we’ll just have to escalate the plan. Maybe we can get some dirt on her from the past, too. Something that’ll make Alaric question everything.”

Geralt smirked, a glint of mischief in his eyes. “Oh, I like that. But first, let’s focus on the charity event. When is it?”

“Next weekend,” Elysia replied, checking her calendar. “That gives us just enough time to prepare.”

The day of the charity event arrived, and the venue was a beautiful hall adorned with elegant decorations. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, chatter, and the soft clinking of glasses. Elysia stood at the entrance, dressed in a stunning but simple black dress, her heart racing as she spotted Alaric and Isolde mingling with guests.

Geralt joined her, his playful grin giving her a boost of confidence. “Ready to put your plan into action?”

“Ready as I’ll ever be,” Elysia said, scanning the room for potential witnesses. “Let’s find Alaric’s friends and make sure they see Isolde in action.”

As they navigated through the crowd, Elysia caught sight of Alaric laughing with a group of friends, his face lighting up the room. Her heart fluttered, but she quickly reminded herself of the mission at hand.

“Look!” Geralt whispered, pointing to Isolde, who was surrounded by a small group of admirers. “Perfect timing.”

Elysia nodded, her stomach twisting with nerves. “We just need to wait for the right moment to strike.”

The event kicked off with a speech from the organizer, and as the crowd settled down, Isolde seized the opportunity to showcase her charm. She spoke with a confident air, but Elysia noticed her dismissive attitude toward those who were less important in her eyes.

“Did you hear about the donation drive?” Isolde asked, her voice dripping with condescension. “I can’t believe they’re expecting so little from us. Some people just don’t get it.”

Elysia exchanged a glance with Geralt, who raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed. This was the moment they’d been waiting for.

“Let’s find Alaric’s friends,” Elysia whispered, leading the way.

They approached a group of Alaric’s friends, including Marcus, a tall guy with an easy smile, and Mia, a witty girl known for her no-nonsense attitude.

“Hey, guys!” Elysia called out, trying to keep her voice light. “Did you see Isolde’s speech?”

“Yeah, what was that about?” Marcus replied, crossing his arms with a skeptical look. “She was pretty... dramatic.”

Elysia nodded, her heart racing as she shared a glance with Geralt. “I think she might have a tendency to overexaggerate. It’s almost like she enjoys being the center of attention.”

Mia chuckled, shaking her head. “Oh, for sure. But I think she’s more interested in her social media following than the actual cause.”

“Exactly,” Elysia said, leaning in. “That’s what I thought too. It’s all about the likes and comments for her.”

As they spoke, Isolde’s laughter echoed nearby, and Elysia turned her head just in time to see her brushing off a volunteer with a wave of her hand, making a disparaging comment about their outfit.

“Ugh, look at that poor girl,” Geralt whispered, pointing discreetly. “If Alaric saw that...”

Elysia nodded, her determination solidifying. “Let’s make sure he does.”

They waited patiently, engaging in small talk while keeping an eye on the scene. Moments later, Alaric made his way over, a bright smile on his face.

“Hey, guys! What are you talking about?” Alaric asked, his eyes sparkling.

“Just about the event,” Elysia said, feigning casualness. “Isolde’s speech was something, huh?”

Alaric chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. “Yeah, she always knows how to captivate an audience.”

“True, but at what cost?” Mia said, her tone serious. “Did you see how she treated that volunteer?”

Alaric’s smile faltered slightly as he glanced over to where Isolde stood, now surrounded by admirers, her laughter echoing through the hall.

“Wait, what do you mean?” Alaric asked, suddenly serious.

Elysia exchanged a quick look with Geralt, who nodded, encouraging her to continue. “We just saw her being a bit... dismissive. She didn’t seem to care about the cause or the people involved.”

“Yeah, it’s like she’s only here for the attention,” Geralt added, leaning closer to Alaric. “You deserve someone who actually cares about these issues.”

Elysia watched as Alaric’s expression shifted, uncertainty creeping into his eyes. She held her breath, hoping he would start to see the truth.

“I... I didn’t realize,” Alaric said slowly, glancing back at Isolde. “I thought she was just being... enthusiastic.”

“Enthusiastic is one thing,” Elysia replied, her voice steady. “But being dismissive? That’s a whole different story.”

They all exchanged knowing looks, and Elysia felt a flicker of hope ignite within her.

“Maybe I need to talk to her,” Alaric said, his brow furrowing. “This isn’t what I want in a relationship.”

Elysia’s heart raced with anticipation, the possibility of change finally within reach. “It’s your life, Alaric. You deserve to be with someone who truly values you and what you stand for.”

“Thanks, guys. I appreciate you looking out for me,” he said, sincerity filling his eyes.

As Alaric walked away to confront Isolde, Elysia felt a rush of adrenaline. They were finally breaking the cycle, one conversation at a time. The path ahead was still uncertain, but for the first time, she felt hopeful about the future—whatever it may hold.
