Lincon
As I walked briskly through the building's corridors, the sound of my shoes echoed off the polished marble. My assistant, Marcelo, trailed behind me with a worried expression, struggling to keep up.
"I'll immediately send you today's footage from the building's cameras, sir," he said, his voice breathless from the rush.
I nodded, feeling the urgency of the situation, and replied firmly, "Good. Do that, but I'm done for today. I'm not available for anyone; if there's a meeting, reschedule it. I'm going home."
Marcelo nodded, adjusting his glasses that kept slipping down his nose. "Certainly, sir."
He passed me, almost running, while focusing on his cell phone screen. I watched him for a moment, the feeling of being observed returning to my mind, more insistent than ever.
I headed for the garage, my footsteps echoing louder and louder. As I walked, a memory haunted me: that employee, cell phone in hand, taking selfies.
"She was close... admit it, Lincon, you smelled her too," whispered my wolf, his primal voice stirring in my mind.
"I did, but I didn't see her. This is driving me crazy... I need to know who she is, and soon."
"We need to, my dear... we need to."
"I know very well why you want her, wolf..." I replied, almost in a whisper.
As I approached my car, doubt and intuition intertwined. Upon entering the vehicle, the engine roared under the pressure of the accelerator, but the unease persisted. The wolf within me was awake, and I needed to discover what was hidden in the shadows.
As I drove under the warm afternoon light, the city pulsed around me, a tangle of cars and hurrying people. The sound of engines, horns, and hurried footsteps created a chaotic symphony that echoed in my mind. My fingers drummed impatiently on the steering wheel, the nervous beat reflecting my restlessness.
"It's her! She's close again!" roared my wolf's voice, a primal echo that resonated in the depths of my soul.
Suddenly, the air became thick with her unmistakable scent, her perfume penetrating the open window. With an instinctive motion, I glanced to the side, and there she was. The girl who had been troubling me for the past few hours, pushing her bicycle while typing something on her cell phone.
The sun illuminated her face, highlighting her skin even more. A shiver ran down my spine.
"Let's go! Follow her, Lincon! Go! Follow her!" shouted my wolf, the urgency in his voice growing, an uncontrollable need.
"Are you crazy? I can't follow her! Besides, the light..."
Without time to finish speaking, I felt my foot sink into the accelerator. The car responded with a powerful roar, running the red light as if the world around me had slowed down. Adrenaline surged through my veins.
"I'll kill you, you damn mutt! I'll kill you!" I yelled, rage and frustration mingling in a frenzy.
"You can't kill me, Lincon. Now, hold on to this steering wheel and let's go after her. We need to find out where she lives," he said confidently.
As the car engine roared like a raging lion, I followed her trail. She turned the corner, and instinctively, I turned the wheel, the tires screeching on the curve. The city became a blur of colors and sounds, every traffic light and pedestrian becoming mere obstacles in my pursuit.
Her scent intensified, almost as if it was enveloping me, and the inexplicable connection between us strengthened. My heart raced faster; anticipation and anxiety intertwined. What did I really want? To know who she was, or just to satisfy this primal need that consumed me?
Through the windows, the frenetic movement of the city transformed into a blurred landscape. I was so focused on her that I barely noticed the bus passing me, its horn blaring like thunder. The girl moved away, and my determination grew. I couldn't let her escape.
"Come on, Lincon!" exclaimed my wolf, impatient.
However, as I rounded a corner, a street vendor shouting about his wares crossed my path. I braked abruptly, and the sound of tires skidding on the pavement echoed in my mind.
My heart pounded in my chest, adrenaline making my senses pulse. It was as if my eardrums wanted to burst, each beat of my heart resonating like a war drum.
Cars honked around me, drivers cursing as they stirred in their routines. But I didn't care about them; I was focused on the only goal that mattered. Looking out, I realized the girl had disappeared into the crowd of pedestrians.
I lost track of time as I drove around, passing unfamiliar faces and flashing lights, but everything seemed in vain. She was gone, and frustration consumed me. Without realizing it, afternoon turned to night, and the shadows began to lengthen.
As I made a U-turn, I passed a darker alley. Suddenly, my car was surrounded. Three men emerged from the shadows, approaching with menacing expressions, lifting their shirts, and displaying weapons. The chill down my spine turned into an intense burning rage.
I took a deep breath, and a bitter laugh escaped my lips. "Great, wolf! Look what you got us into. All this for some girl!"
His inner laugh echoed, and I felt him enjoy the situation. "Look, I see it differently. At least we'll have some fun. Get out of the car, Lincon, and let me emerge."
Without hesitation, I opened the door and slowly stepped out, raising my hands. As I lowered them, unbuttoning my shirt and pants, I said in a calculated calm, "Guys... I suggest you start running. Seriously, things could get ugly around here. You had the misfortune of messing with the wrong person."
They exchanged confused glances, and one of them, laughing, said, "What's up, playboy? Want to pay us another way? But we're not into that... we just want your money and the car."
I smiled cynically, now only in my underwear. I threw my clothes towards the car and said, "I warned you."
The transformation began, an agonizing and liberating process. My bones cracked, and my body contorted. Claws emerged, fur covered my skin, my face elongated, morphing into a ferocious snout.
And then, my wolf fully emerged. The faint light illuminating the alley seemed to flicker before the creature I was. Inside my mind, his voice was a low, sinister whisper, "Let's play."
The hunt began. In an instant, tension dissolved into a primitive frenzy. The beast's roar echoed through the alley, and the men's agonizing screams cut through the night, mingling with the sound of claws ripping through their flesh.
The three scattered, but the darkness was my ally. The prey was weak and terrified, and the taste of freedom enveloped me. As I ran through the shadows, ferocity pulsed through my veins, and the city became a hunting ground. The wolf within me was free, and the night was just beginning.
