Episode 2

...FOREST KENWORTH...

The next day, Felix and I were having breakfast when suddenly he said that he had an urgent meeting scheduled in another country for which he had to go for a week.

"Suddenly? " I asked, hiding my suspicion.

"It has been a long time coming but I wasn't sure if I would be going or not. John will be accompanying me. " He said with a loving smile on his face which seemed genuine at that time.

We didn't discuss anything further and I decided that I will visit my sister's house while he will be on his business trip. He agreed and kissed me goodbye as he left. It was all normal but something felt extremely wrong. Last night I decided to confront him on the call with that Emily woman but seeing what he said about his business trip, I thought to myself that I'm just being paranoid and shrugged off the topic.

As the day of Felix's business trip arrived, we both packed to go to our destinations and as Felix mentioned, he was picked up by John and they said that after grabbing a bite, they will head towards the airport. I was picked by Julian and both of us, with my brother-in-law James, decided to go to Julian's cabin. We both reached there and it was already lunch time. James was already there, setting up barbeque and food. We had lunch together and were sitting on the patio when they noticed me tense and asked if something was wrong. Still feeling paranoid, I told both of them about my doubts regarding Felix and about this 'Emily' and his call that one night.

"So what are you going to do now? " Julian asked, sipping his beer.

"I don't know. "

"Will you listen to my suggestion? " James said.

"What? "

"Why not hire a private detective and find out whether what you're feeling is just your doubts or something more. " Before I could say or refuse, he stopped me.

"Wait and listen to me. I can understand that doing something like this behind your partner's back isn't good but you're stuck with a thought and unable to shrug it off which is also causing you to be distant with Felix. Just think how unfair it is to him if he is innocent. "

James had a knack of getting on people's nerves but he was also very good when it came to manipulating or 'convincing' what he phrases it, people into doing what he wants them to do. He had this golden retriever personality which match perfectly with my sister Fiera who can be categorized as either a black cat or a snake. I'm not sure yet.

"I agree with James. Hire one and clear out your suspicion. If there is nothing such, you'll move on and it will solve your problem before you both drift apart for real. "

We had a little more chat and then I decided to take their advice. James already had a PD who was his friend from high school. I gave him the details of everything he asked for and his payment in advance. I loved Felix and was sure that my suspicion was nothing to worry about and he will never cheat on me.

The week went by and Felix returned. He was acting like his normal self and I still had to hear anything from James's PD friend. Felix received a call from his office and had to rush out without unpacking. For that day, he took my car since his car was in for service. I was free and decided to unpack his luggage when I found an iPad which I had no idea Felix owned.

It was locked and I tried to open it but failed. Felix and I have the same passwords to our devices and this iPad was unusual. I took it to my office and hacked it. Turns out that this iPad was holding the part of his life that I wasn't aware of. Dating apps, pictures of naked women, sexting with them, meeting up with random women for hook-ups, I also found out about his bank account that he kept to pay for all these activities.

I hear my car entering the garage and I rush back to put his iPad back in his bag. He came back, smiling with all that love which seemed nothing to me but lies. He said to me about how excited he was, returning home and that he was all pent up and could not focus on anything but getting me into the bed. I felt sick to my stomach. There is no way I'm letting this scoundrel touch me especially after knowing what he has been up to for god knows how many months or even years.

I told him that I have to urgently visit his sister's place as she called me. He was furious about leaving him and going to hers when he was so turned on, to put it bluntly. He always sugar-coated it as missing me to his death. I felt the urge to punch him but decided against it. Just wait till I dig your grave and bury you there in myself. I called a cab and drove off to Julian's. His girlfriend opened the door, surprised.

"Hey Forest. It's good to see you. Is everything alright? " Martha said and I hugged her and broke down in tears. Julian comes in and is shocked to see the sight. They manage to calm me down and I tell them about things I found out. I wasn't able to snoop further but I had his bank account number.

I called James, asking him to cover up for me in case Felix called him. There was no way he was going to call my sister as she was ruthless and unforgivingly rude who made no attempt to hide her dislike towards Felix during dinners unlike my parents who remained polite for my sake.

The next day, James picked me up from Julian's and dropped me off at my place. Surprisingly, my car wasn't in the garage which meant that he left for work but I saw a package which was from William. I invited him inside and we headed into my office. Opening the package felt like my life was crumbling in front of me which brings me to the present.
