Fall for the name

As the cold breeze roamed through the atmosphere and hit my face, I looked up to observe the conditions in the sky. My eyes caught sight of the constellations that held many fond memories for me.

Highland is one of the best universities in our country. I got the opportunity to be a part of it, even though I had totally wrecked my interview. On the first day, as I entered the gate, a girl approached me, saying, "Hi, are you a new student? My name is Miku, and I am in the management faculty."

"Hello, I'm Daisy. I think we are on the same faculty," I replied.

Since she had arrived a few hours before me, she offered to show me around. Later, we found out we had been accepted into the same hostel; not only that, we were even roommates. To sum it up, she became my first friend at Highland. That first day gave us a chance to settle into the new environment.

The next morning, the sound of an alarm clock woke me up; it was 5 a.m. I got out of bed, got freshened up, and got dressed. After that, we had our breakfast at around 6:30 a.m. After returning to the hostel, Miku and I prepared for our classes. From that day on, the same routine continued for about three months.

As the third month neared its end, rumors about a merger between our university and a newly established one began to circulate. Unaware of what was coming, I found myself getting excited.

Finally, the day arrived, the two universities merged, and the new name remained New Highland. Due to the merger, many new students were added to our faculty. In our class alone, 20 new faces appeared. On the first day after the merger, I heard a girl shout, "Does anyone know in which class Eric got accepted into?"

Like a moth drawn to light, I found myself strangely getting attracted to that name.

It took about a week for everyone to settle down completely. After that, only three months remained until the end of our first semester, so everyone focused on studying. We had a lot of papers to write and presentations to deliver. There were so many assignments that we barely had time for ourselves. Time flew by, and before we knew, it was already exam week. After completing our exam, we were promoted to a new semester. A new semester meant a new beginning, classrooms and students were shuffled. Miku and I ended up in different classes.

One day in late winter, as I was leaving the classroom, I heard someone say, "Eric, wait a minute! I'm coming with you."

As I stepped into the corridor, I saw a boy standing there. He had a light brown complexion, curly black hair, and wore glasses. He would have looked like a nerd if not for his confident posture and stylish outfit. Still, anyone seeing him for the first time would likely assume he was a nerd.

The book in his hand, the slight smile on his face, and the wind played with his hair made him look incredibly attractive.

I was so captivated by him that I didn't even notice my friend calling me to move away from the door.
