Chapter 1: Day Of Disaster

Roy's POV

07:30 AM

Today was the first day at school after the long summer vacation that lasted for 2 months. The school gate has opened and all the students rushed to their respective classes in hurry. It was going to be a hectic day.

Ugh, the same old place, huh? Looks like today's going to be pretty busy, I thought to myself as I walked to my classroom. I jostled my way up the stairs and plopped down on my seat setting my school bag aside.

From the corner of my eyes, I could see Ayla and her boyfriend. This school prohibits dating, and I'm supposed to inform the school authority about them breaking the rules, but I don't want to meddle in their personal relationship, so I choose to rather stay away from dating issues.

Gosh, they're making me feel single, I think to myself as I stare at the couple. I wonder to myself when will I have my own prince charming who will be the man of my dreams.

I stand up from my seat as the teacher enters the classroom. It was English class, and I was waiting to hear the excuses from Ms. Sara. She forgot to assign our project before the holiday, and she is definitely going to make up excuses regarding her poor sense of responsibility. She will probably try to assign group projects to us, so we can get our work done earlier. God, she's such an irresponsible person.

'Good morning everyone! How was everyone's holiday? I suppose it went well. Well, about your assignment... I hope you guys can forgive me, but I forgot to assign it to you. My attachment section wasn't working which resulted in me to not be able to assign you all your project. But I have a wonderful idea! How about you all work in duos? You can finish it earlier that way!', said Ms. Sara.

There she goes... I listen to her excuses and make a fed up expression. Duos? Wow, that's the worst thing ever... I end up having to do the work all the time when I'm in duos, but looks like I'll have to do it to maintain my good image as a model student. I stare at Ms. Sara who is giving a smile stretched across her face to everyone that says 'deal with it' .

As Ms. Sara was choosing out the duos, a problem occurred. A wonderful problem in fact. There was 1 student less, and I was the last person who was left to be assigned. Automatically a smile appeared to my face realizing I could do it alone without having to deal with another stupid head.

Working in duos is nice, but only when your partner matches your attitude. Imagine having to work in duos and you're a smartie pants while your partner is a total menace to the world, a total stupid head with no sense of responsiblity and zero percentage of intelligence in their brain. It just hurts having to do the work alone and not getting the full credit. It hurts more when the other person gets good grades as well without even having to do the work. It's just simply enough to hurt me.

But, well... I can excuse all of that if they have a beautiful handwriting or if they know how to decorate notes or projects. I will happily note down everything roughly and give it to the other person so they could write it down nicely. I will be happy that both of us got an A grade in our project.

'Miss Sara! May I come in?!' , suddenly a voice came from outside the classroom interrupting my thoughts. Everyone looked at the direction the voice came from. A boy stood outside the door with his shirt tucked out from his pants, his tie loose, messy hair, no belt on and his coat hanging loose from his shoulders. The sight was enough to pain me. The guy was not following the rules. I was losing my mind with just a glance at him.

It was the troublemaker of the class, Leon Garfield. The guy I hate the most in this whole world. He never follows the rules and fails in tests often. He never even cares to listen to me and is always creating trouble.

'Well well well, if it isn't Mr. Garfield. Well then, what's the reason of your late arrival, Garfield? Your road got blocked my ducks passing by again?', Ms. Sara said as she glared at him.

'That doesn't sound nice coming from you considering the reason why you were late for class last time Ms. Sara', Leon said as he ran his hands through his hair.

Ms. Sara was late last time because her boyfriend was busy fcking her before she left for school. We all knew about it because she's Leon's neighbor and Leon was late as well and heard everything because apparently Miss Sara is pretty loud.

Ms. Sara blushed as she heard Leon's comment but tried to act cool and told him to come in. Leon steps inside the classroom and closes the door behind him. He scans the classroom to look for a seat when Ms. Sara speaks up.

'Well good thing you're here! We were short on 1 student to pair Roy with for the project. Roy, I'm pairing Leon with you! Leon, go sit beside her, so it would be easier for you to discuss the project', Ms. Sara said as she pointed at me.

As I heard the words suddenly my whole face turned blank, all of my hopes were shattered. I'm going to get paired up with this guy? Him? Oh, no... we're gonna have a problem here... I thought to myself as Leon's eyes met with mine. I felt like my world just broke in two parts. This guy? This is going to be a disaster.

My eyes stared at Leon in disbelief as he started to walk up to my bench and stood there to wait for me to move aside. There was disgust evident on my face. I didn't want to let him sit beside me. I wanted him to know he was not welcome. But, without saying anything I moved aside but made sure to keep my backpack between us, so his filthy self will not be touching me. Distance matters.

'You're acting like you've never seen a white person before', said Leon as he sat beside me. Jesus Christ, his voice... I turned my head towards him, ....his voice is so disgusting.

'Quite a lame joke, Garfield. Considering I'm white myself, it would be stupid to assume I've 'never seen a white person before', you know?', I responded to him.

'Or, you can just admit you don't have a nice sense of humor, sometimes it's truly right to admit your mistakes', replied Leon.

'Oh God, your voice disgusts me. Can you please stop talking? I'm trying to figure out what to do in my project here. You will not even be doing the project, I'll probably have to do it myself, you know? So I think I would appreciate it a lot if you could shut your mouth and stay silent for a BIT! Because, after all, this project is going to carry our internal marks in the report card. So, if you don't want to fail in English and want your scores to high, it would be helpful if you could stay silent.' I said to him as he looks at me in disbelief.

'Jeez, serious as always, aren't you? And chill out, I'll help you out in this. I've recently got a couple of new sets of things that would be useful in our project.' he said, leaning against the bench.

'Okay. I wish I wouldn't have to call you over but are you free after school? Can you come over?', I asked raising an eyebrow.

'Well, I wish I could. But, my parents will not be at home so I can't. Why don't you come over instead? It will be easier that way. I don't want to drag my whole table of supplies to your house and then rearrange them again when I get back home. That's tiring and I'm lazy', Leon says as he disapproves of my idea.

'Okay', I replied.

'Cool. See you after school then. You can come over around 5 or 6 PM', replied Leon listing out the time.

I nod listening to his words. The bell rings indicating that the period has come to an end. I stand up and hurriedly pack my stuff back into the bag and leave the classroom.
