CHAPTER 4: Ancient Book of Life

Lark approached and greeted them.

“You’re here, let me formally introduce you this is Orpheus. Orpheus

this is

Cyrus, and this is Sirius.” Lark introduces them one at a time,

“Your Highness, Duke Callisto, it’s a great pleasure to meet you, I’m

Orpheus Nox son of Barron Nox.” Orpheus politely introduces himself,

“What brings you here?” Lark asked,

“There's a progress with our investigation, and it appears that this is

apparently

not an accident, their placement of the magic circle was well organized, tho we haven’t found the other end of the magic circle yet, and we've discovered that this was deliberately placed there as a movement tool,”

Sirius explained and placed a paper drawn with an exact copy of the magic circle at the

table.

“This pattern is drawn with motion sensor and key placement, if the certain key item

passed by the magic circles filed it can automatically activate itself,

judging by the size of the magic circle, its scripture placements and the amount of magic imbedded

to it, the key must be rear and a highly magical item, so that no one would

accidentally activate those magic circles, we searched everywhere but we still couldn't find the key to

activate those magic circles. Since this incident was related to you, we thought you might know the

where about of the key.” Sirius continued to explain.

Upon hearing Lark was lost in his thoughts and thought of a particular

object that he created, infused with his own magic and a token that was

given by one of the rearrest creature to be found in the entire kingdom. Lark placed a

necklace with a golden colored feather on top of the magic circle and it suddenly

started to glow a purple light, and a small rabbit monster appeared on top of the paper

with the magic circle drawn to it, they were stunned at the sight of the creature, then Cyrus placed a similar

looking necklace with a white feather on the magic circle and the same thing

happened, but this time there were no creature on top of the magic circle only the

purple light seemingly activating the magic circle, they were speechless and

made a conclusion that whoever did this was deliberate on hurting the one who

holds the key, they looked at Lark in unison while Cyrus hugged him with a

darkened expression.

“This will not happen a second time” Cyrus said

“I know,” Lark replied,

“We will find out who did this” Cyrus said,

Lark nodded and hugged him back.

Sirius patted his head and said “Don’t worry we’ll always be here and I’ll make this into a top priority and investigate it thoroughly.”

Hearing this, Orpheus thought that what had happened already diverged

the story from its original plot, he pondered deeply and realized that what happened was totally different

from what was written on the book he read, the special events that happened in

the book didn’t happen but instead a different tragedy almost occurred, Lark

noticed Orpheus reaction and remembered that not long ago he noticed that his

memories of his past life was changing continuously back and forth as if they

were all rewritten and recovered again and again, “Everything is different and

all is begins now” Orpheus said softly,

Lark heard what he said and understood what he meant nodded lightly to

him and heard Orpheus asked

“Have any of you heard of a magic book called ‘Ancient Book of Life’?”

Being a top magic student of Arcane University and well versed on magic

items and scriptures Lark never heard of a book called ‘Ancient Book of Life’

so, he shakes his head and said “No, I’ve never heard of it or seen it

before”

“How about a student named Corra?” Orpheus asked again

“I’ve been a student body president of the Magic School of Arcane but I’ve never heard that name before” Cyrus said,

“How thus this book and person relevant to the assassination attempt of Lark?” Sirius aske,

“I don’t know exactly but I just have a feeling that this is not as simple as an ordinary assassination attempt to Lark,” with their limitation to the world Orpheus and Lark slowly explained the relation of the ‘Ancient

book of Life’ and the student named Corra, their current thoughts of the

matter and even some of the bits and pieces of their memories either Orpheus'

past or Lark's unstable memory

“I’ll have someone look in to it, maybe we can find this so called 'Ancient Book of Life'” Cyrus said.

“I’ll find more information of this student Corra, with the fast and

wide network of the Ducal family we will find her soon or some information

related to her” Sirius said.

As they were talking a sudden gust of wind passed by followed by a black

blur, it tackled Lark and almost knocking him off his chair followed by a slight giggle.
