Chapter 3: Her smile

I was on my way to the college when I saw her coming out of her house. I guess she was all set to go to her high school. She was wearing her school uniform with bangs spread on her forehead and rest of the hair tied into a ponytail, a bagpack on her shoulder on hand holding a book and other hand holding a sandwich. She was looking rather cute while cramming and munching her sandwich. I was about to drive through but suddenly a thought popped into my mind.

"Why is she going to her school while looking this cute". I dont know why but I kinda felt a bit possessive about her.

I rolled down the window and said "Come and sit. I'll give you a ride to the school."

She replied mockingly "I can manage on my own" with her toungue sticking out.

An unintentional laughter left my mouth.

I asked her again to sit down to which she said sassily "Okay. If you insist."

She sat down and I satrted driving.

She was still eating her sandwich. I asked her "Is this tasty." She said "yes!! It is but dont expect me to share with you."

I teased her to share it with me and unexpectedly she forwarded her sandwich towards me.

Ahh!! I wanted to bicker but she gave in so easily. So, to annoy her, I ate whole sandwich in a single bite and said while wiping my lips "Indeed it was tasty".

Her eyes became round with brim of tears in her eyes. She said angrily " How could you eat my whole sandwich? Now what would I eat? Do you expect me to stay hungry the whole day".

It made me remember the day I threw her doll in to the fireplace.

"She is still the cry baby" I thought.

I said to her " Okay!! I am sorry. But dont cry. I'll get you another one."

She didn't reply.

I sighed while looking at her. I actually felt bad thinking that she might stay hungry the whole day.

A cafe appeared on the way and I stopped my car.

I asked her about her sandwich preference and again she didn't reply. Again I sighed and got off the car.

I entered the cafe and saw their whole menu. I got confuse because I know she is always on a diet God knows why. I ordered a vegetable and chicken sanwich for her wrapped in a brown bread and sprinkled with souly sauce, olives, jalapenos and sesame oil. Then, I ordered a fresh grape juice for her. I payed the bill after a while and took the package to the car.

While sitting, I placed the package on her lap. She looked at me with her round eyes sparkiling with happiness.

She said " Thanks but you must know that it was your fault."

Then she started eating her sandwich while sipping the juice.

A smile appeared on my face unconsciously while looking at her munching her food.

There was nothing to talk about but still I wanted the chat to continue. I liked talking to her even if it was for seconds. I dont know why but my heart felt at peace when I am with her.

So, to continue the chat, I asked her "Is it your exam today?"

She replied "No. Its tomorrow."

I hummed in response.

She continued "You must be thinking why am I cramming all this like my exam is today right!"

I said " Actually Yes"

She said " Actually my friend asked to me explain a topic to him because we are sure that its gonna be on the exam."

On the word "friend" my sixth sense clicked because I know that she has no close friends except for Emma.

So I asked "Is it Emma?"

She said "No! Its Aroon."

I replied "oh! Its a boy. You guys must be pretty close then."

She was about to say something but then her school arrived and she got off.

I was looking at her back moving farther. Suddenly, she returned, knocked on the windoe and gestured to roll it down.

I rolled the window down and she said "Thanks for not letting me stay hungry the whole day and taking my diet preferences into account. Not everyone knows about my diet you know." Only I notice these little things silly" I whispered.

She returned back and then I shouted with my head out of the window " Save the thanks and owe me a wish."

She smiled and said "Okay".

She returned again with eyes on her book and I just melted in her smile. Ahh!! That smile. I could die for that one smile that brightens up my whole world.

After that I started the engine of the car while thinking about the guy named "Aroon". I was curious about who he was and how close was he with Ava.
