The boy leaned in closer. "You can't hide from me. I know what you are."

Fear surged through Lyra. She turned and walked away quickly, her mind racing. She had to tell Jake.

When she found Jake in the hallway, she pulled him aside. "Jake, we have a problem. That boy, he knows something."

Jake frowned. "We'll talk to my parents tonight. Maybe they can help."

That evening, Lyra and Jake sat down with his parents. Lyra explained the situation, her voice trembling with worry.

Mrs. Collins listened carefully. "We need to be cautious. If this boy knows something, we need to find out how."

Mr. Collins nodded. "Jake, keep an eye on him at school. Lyra, stay close to your friends. We'll figure out who he is and what he wants."

The next few days were tense. Jake kept a close watch on the new student, whose name was Alex. He tried to approach Alex a few times, but Alex always evaded him. Lyra stayed close to her friends, trying to act normal despite her fear.

One afternoon, while Lyra was in the astronomy club, Alex approached her again. "Why are you hiding?" he asked, his tone softer than before.

Lyra looked him in the eye, trying to be brave. "What do you want from me?"

Alex sighed. "I'm not here to hurt you. I'm like you, from another world. My name is not really Alex. It's Arion, and I was sent here to find you."

Lyra's eyes widened. "Why?"

"Your father, King Orion, is worried about you. He sent me to bring you back," Arion explained.

Lyra felt a mix of relief and panic. "I don't want to go back. I belong here now."

Arion looked conflicted. "I understand. But if you stay, you need to be careful. Others might come looking for you, and not all of them will be friendly."

Lyra nodded. "I appreciate the warning, Arion. But I won't leave Jake."

Arion sighed. "I figured you'd say that. I'll stay close and help if I can. But remember, you're not safe here."

When Lyra told Jake and his parents about her conversation with Arion, they were relieved that he wasn't a threat, but the warning about others worried them.

"We need a plan," Mr. Collins said. "We need to make sure you're safe, Lyra."

Jake took Lyra's hand. "We'll protect you. No matter what."

Lyra smiled, feeling the love and support of her new family. "Thank you. With all of you by my side, I know we can handle anything."

The days passed, and Arion kept his distance but was always nearby, watching over Lyra. She continued to blend into her new life, but the awareness of potential danger never left her.

One evening, as Lyra and Jake lay under the stars, she whispered, "Do you ever wish things were different?"

Jake shook his head. "No. I love you, Lyra. And I'd face any danger to be with you."

Lyra leaned in and kissed him softly. "I love you too, Jake. Together, we'll face whatever comes our way."

And so, under the vast, starry sky, their bond grew stronger, fortified by love and the promise of facing the future together, no matter what it held.
