“Keiran, it’s Jenna. You need to know what Emily’s doing.” Jenna is an old friend from my hometown, and her voice is filled with urgency.

My heart skips a beat. “What’s going on?”

“Emily’s spreading rumors that you’re involved in criminal activities. She’s convincing people to testify against you. She’s even got some people who are willing to lie under oath.”

I’m stunned. “What? How could she do this?”

“She’s telling everyone you’re dangerous and a criminal. People believe her, Keiran. She’s really out to ruin you.”

The phone call leaves me shaken. I pace around my small apartment, trying to process the news. Emily’s lies had reached a new level of malice. She wasn’t just content with driving me away; she wanted to destroy any semblance of a life I had left.

There’s a long silence before Daniel speaks again. “I don’t know, Keiran. This is all so hard to believe.”

His words cut deep. Even my own stepbrother, the person I once trusted most, is doubting me. I hang up, feeling more isolated than ever. Emily’s web of deceit has trapped me, and I have no one to turn to.

Desperate, I decide to disappear again. I change my name and move to another city, hoping to escape Emily’s reach. I start over, yet again, with nothing but a suitcase and a handful of cash. The scars of betrayal and the constant fear of being found haunt me.

Maybe Adrian can help me get the justice I deserve.

With a sense of renewed determination, I make a decision. I’ll reach out to Adrian and see if his offer still stands. It’s a risk, but I’m out of options. Emily has taken everything from me, and it’s time to take it back. I can’t let her win. I refuse to be a victim any longer.

The next morning, I gather my courage and make the call. “Adrian, it’s Keiran. I need your help.”

His response is immediate. “Keiran, I’ve been waiting for your call. Let’s meet and discuss how we can take Emily down.”

As I hang up the phone, I feel a mix of fear and hope. This is my chance to reclaim my life and expose Emily’s true nature. It’s time to fight back.
