Lemonade and chit chat

“If Tanya agrees that is.”

“Consider it settled then. I already got her approval. Wanna go to Tanya’s house?”

“Eh? No, meet you there cuz I still haven’t had breakfast. Also she said evening, not noon.”

“Isn’t it like already 11?”he said.

“Exactly.” Willana shut the door in his face.

“Let’s see… For today, I’ll go for some  honey and butter on bread.”

Willana took the time to eat and then got ready  to go outside.

She opened the door only to see Oswald again.

“I asked Tanya and she said noon is fine too.”

“Gosh, can  we at least  do  shopping for lunch first?” she complained.

“Or we could eat at Tanya’s place.”

“No, I’m not gonna bother her. You’re coming shopping  with  me.”

Oswald and Willana went to the marketplace together. It was a lively place, full of vegetable stands  and a few dairy and clothes stands.

“Do you see string beans  anywhere?

"Hey, are you listening?" she tugged his black shirt.

“Oh? Yeah string beans, I saw them at the end of the marketplace over there!”

“Good. I’ve already got potatoes. Hello, what’s the price of these string beans?”

20 copper coins per  kilogram young lady.

I won’t last long with these prices. She thought.

“Give me half a kilogram.”she said.

“Here you go miss.”the shopkeeper said.

“So, did you pass the exam?”Willana asked.

“Actually, this time I did.”he boasted.

“Congrats, Oswald.” she said.

He smiled.”Thanks a lot, Willana!” 

Willana felt a sense of  comfort and relief wash over her. She had taken a small liking to his smile.

They walked back to her house.

Oswald helped her with setting up the fire.

“Do you wanna try some too?”she asked him.

“Sure, but before it’s done, I need to clean this mess up. How do you manage to eat with so many  dirty dishes around? This just won’t do.”

He brought some water and began cleaning the dishes.

“It’s done!”she exclaimed

“I’m almost done.” he replied

“ I really appreciate you doing this for me. Sometimes I get so caught up in my emotions  that everything around me decays." Willana said.

“I think I get it…Emergency hug!” he hugged her, squishing her face into his chest as she was  a head  shorter.

“Thanks, Oswald.” she said.

Let’s eat now. 

After they ate  Willana suggested he should practice and Willana would contact her mom.  Oswald practiced  drawing the power of his blood stone.

(Oswald’s pov)

Feel the energy… Breathe in, focus the energy into the stone. Focus on the energy releasing from the stone. Breathe out at the same time.

Repeat.

(Willana’s pov)

Deep breath in, slowly.

I need to close my eyes.Focus on the gem.

Hey mom.

“Hi, sweetie.”mom said

I think it’s time to get you out of the gem soon. What do you say.

“I’m not ready yet. Could you give me more time? I feel nervous about no one watching over you.”

Hey I have granny Bella, sword guy and Tanya. WIlana said in her mind.

“I’m glad you are making  friends.”mom replied.

Alright mom, I’ll give you more time. At least until we read the books. 

Later on they went to Tanya’s house.

Tanya opened the door. “Come on in!

Do you guys want something to drink? Water? Lemonade?”

“Can’t turn down lemonade now can I?” said Oswald.

“Me neither.” said Willana.

“Alright, be right back!” Tanya said in excitement.

They went up to her room.

“Wow, impressive  wall paintings.”Oswald remarked.

“She’s quite the artist indeed.” Willana confirmed.

They both sat in chairs facing one another.

“Random question, do you even know what blood stones are made of?”Willana asked.

“Uhhh, not really?” Oswald answered nonchalantly.

“Weird, surprised you don’t know that as you are using one.A blood stone is a human’s and an elf’s blood mixed together and then frozen. Once frozen, it can never melt back to liquid and can only be destroyed. Why? Don’t know. Weird how that works.” she explained.

“I see.” he brainstormed.

“Anyways.”Willana pulled out two books from her  leather bag. She opened the book called Connecting with spirits of the dead.She turned the pages until she found the page:  Letting a trapped soul go, a simple guide.

She started reading:

Tanya came with the lemonade and put it on the table. 

“Going to give your mom the cold shoulder already?”

“Not yet. But I’m reading about how it’s done.”

“It sounds like a drag. Let’s read something more fun.” Tanya started turning the pages with lighting speed.

“I agree.”Oswald said, sipping his lemonade.

“Ohh this one sounds fun. It’s about making yourself  switch places with your spirit companion.” Tanya exclaimed.

“You gotta have a spirit companion first.Oh right, mom. Wait, it also says you  get transferred to the  world in between  the living and the dead. It’s not just a simple switcharoo.”

“Still sounds fun though.”Tanya and  Oswald said in unison.

“U guys are gonna peer pressure me aren’t you?” Willana said coldly.

“Noooo of course not.” they said in unison.

They did, in fact, peer pressure her.
