Suspect 4: Hayley Sin

You knock on the door one last time and you here a click from the other side before the door is swiftly opened.

You've been standing here for the past ten minutes, knocking on the door of Hayley Sin's apartment, she wouldn't give you a permission to enter. You were already feeling tired and hot from standing under the blazing sun for so long. You contemplated leaving, but change your mind when you realised you were only one step away from solving this mystery.

The door flings open and you see a beautiful black haired woman with a tan skin and a curvaceous figure on the other side. You notice how similar her features is to your last suspect, Hannah Rivera. But you're not surprised as you know Hannah Rivera has familial connections with this woman, Hayley Sin.

That's not your problem now. Your problem is that you somehow have to convince this woman to let you in so you could start the interrogation. She wouldn't relent.

She had a frown on her face. When she saw you all sweaty and disheveled, she scoffed, "Detective, please leave. I don't want to speak with anyone right now" She recedes into the house and closes the door with a slam, but you're quick enough to stop it from fully closing.

"What do you want Detective!? Please leave!" She cries out. You feel bad, but you must interrogate her for the investigation to progress.

"Please Mrs Sin, listen to me. I know you're in pain from the loss of your husband, trust me, everyone else is worked up about it. We may not understand your pain, but we all know how hard it is to lose someone we love" You say.

"Your husband was a good man and a good doctor, we all admire him. That's why we're doing our best to expose and punish his murderer. I'm sure that's what you want, right Mrs Sin?"

Tears slipped down her eyes from your words. Her breathing was in  ragged gasps and her grip was still strong on the door, but the force she had used to push the door earlier was not there.

She seems to hesitate for a moment but she steps aside nonetheless, and you enter with a smile. The moment you step in, a chill breeze from the air-conditioning immediately grazed your skin, making you feel like you were in heaven for a moment. You couldn't even remember how long you were out under the blazing sun.

The apartment was not very large, but it was quite cozy and elegant. As you enter, you are greeted by a spacious living room adorned with soft, plush furniture and warm earthy tones. The walls are painted in a soothing cream color, complemented by wooden accents throughout the space.

In one corner of the living room, there is a large, comfortable sofa with fluffy cushions and a knitted throw blanket. A coffee table sits in front of the sofa, adorned with a stack of books and a vase of fresh flowers, adding a touch of natural beauty to the room. Soft, ambient lighting is provided by a floor lamp with a warm, gentle glow.

Adjacent to the living room is a small dining area, featuring a wooden table and chairs. The table is set with simple yet elegant tableware, ready for a cozy meal or a cup of tea. A window nearby provides natural light and a view of the surrounding neighborhood.

"Take your seat" Hayley squeaked, her voice still hoarse from the tears, she points to a small white couch with floral designs by the side of the room.

You nod before taking your sit. You take out your recorder and switch it on after a nod from Hayley.

"What happened on the day of the incident?" You start.

The woman's teary face immediately drops as she looks away.

"I am a detective" You add. "My goal is to find out who murdered your husband, but for me to do that, you have to cooperate with me"

She nods, "That's fine"

"I entered his room at about 5pm, an hour after he had lounged in. I had brought my signature lasagna noodles for him to try, but when I entered, he wasn't there. I waited for about another thirty minutes but he didn't show up. By then, the food was getting cold and I couldn't wait anymore, so I left"

"By 7pm, I returned. This time he was in his room but he had already eaten dinner, so I asked if we could drink some tea in the hotel's cafeteria. He agreed. It was the hotel's 12th year anniversary and everyone was busy celebrating in the lounge. We weren't aware, so we were confused when we found out the hotel's cafeteria was empty. But a kind waitress informed us about the party"

"I really wanted to go but be was feeling really sick and sleepy that night, so I left without him"

"And then.... And then...." She burst into tears immediately, catching you off guard. You rush to her side to comfort her, but you're not very good at comforting people so were feeling really awkward.

She leans against you, the tears pouring nonstop.

"I know I'm a suspect" She says. But I would never try to murder my husband, even if he was cheating on me"

You are startled by her words. You stare at her momentarily speechless, not knowing what to say, "Dr Sin was cheating on you?"

She nods, "He was cheating on me with that Chloe girl. It had been going on for months before his death, but I never said a word about it" You nod and pat her back.

"It's okay, Mrs Sin"

"My sister even fought with him once after she found out about his cheating. The argument was really heated that day" She mumbled.

"Your sister?" You ask unsure.

"Yes"

"If I may ask, how many sisters do you have?"

"One" She responded almost immediately. You nod.

You retrieve your recorder from the couch and turn back to Hayley.

"That's it for today. Thank you very much for your compliance"

"I'm glad I could be of much help"

You stand up prepared to leave. After shaking hands with Mrs Sin, you walk towards the door.

"Thank you Detective" She muttered behind you.

"You're welcome" You responded before leaving.

You glance down at your notebook, before checking the name Hayley Sin on it. You have successfully interrogated all your suspects so all that is left is to arrange your information and identify the murderer among the suspects.

You think for a while, coming to a concise conclusion on what to do.
