A beautiful woman stepped out of her car. Sunglasses sat elegantly on her sharp nose, and her wavy black hair added to her allure. Her glowing fair skin enhanced her enchanting presence. With graceful strides, she walked into a grand house, keeping her gaze straight ahead.
"Shea!" The stunning woman turned to see a middle-aged woman approaching with an annoyed expression.
"Where have you been? Working again? Oh my, Shea. Mom has arranged a meeting for you with Richard. Why didn’t you show up, huh?!" scolded the middle-aged woman.
Shea Lexix Wiratama, a beautiful woman and the CEO of Wiratama Company. After her father passed away, Shea took over the family business. She was also a divorced mother of two, having parted ways with her husband three years ago. Now, her mother was trying to set her up with several men. Unfortunately, Shea felt no interest.
"Mom, I’m tired after the office. Can we talk about this later?" Shea replied, slightly annoyed.
The middle-aged woman’s eyes widened, "See, this is why Mom wants you to marry again. So someone can help you at the office. I’ll find you a man who’s on par with our family. So your kids can also have a father figure. Richard is a widower without children; he would surely accept your kids." She exclaimed, frustration evident in her voice.
Shea sighed heavily; she was tired of her mother trying to matchmake her. She believed she didn’t need a man. The failed marriage left her with no desire to remarry. Still, her mother kept pushing her to find a husband, arguing it was for the sake of their children needing a father.
“Enough, Mom. I’m tired. Why don’t you just marry him instead? You’re a widow too,” Shea said casually, turning to leave her mother, who stood speechless at her response.
“A child with no morals! How could she suggest her mother marry again!” Daisy hissed in annoyance.
Shea intended to enter her room, feeling exhausted after a long day at work. However, her steps halted right in front of the sky-blue door. She inadvertently overheard a loud voice from inside. Slowly, Shea pressed her ear against the door.
“Halgaaiii akuuu, jaga pelacaankuuu, aku bukan diaaa, dia bukan dilikuuu huooo .... Dia cuka kamuuu, aku cuka maltabaakk. Halgai akuuu huooo!!”
Shea bit her lip, suppressing laughter. Gradually, she decided to open the bedroom door. Surprisingly, the room light was off. There was no sound; it was utterly quiet. Shea felt confused because she had just heard a child’s cheerful singing. She decided to turn on the light, revealing a mound of blankets on the bed.
“Ah, looks like someone is inviting Mommy to play,” Shea murmured with a smirk.
She turned off the light again and stepped into the room, remembering to close the door behind her. A moment later, a beam of light appeared from the bed. Seeing this, Shea immediately turned the room light back on. There it was, an adorable child staring at her with wide eyes.
“MOMMY!” he exclaimed in surprise.
“Wow, Kai is inviting Mommy to play, huh? What time is it? Why are you still playing with the iPad?” Shea said as she approached the bed.
Kai Zaviyar Rowan, an adorable four-year-old boy. A handsome child with endearing antics, he always broke the rules set by his mommy. Just like now, he was still playing with his iPad during his bedtime.
“Nda ada yang ajak, Mommy cana tidul,” Kai retorted, causing Shea to widen her mouth in disbelief.
“Kai, what time is it now? Come on, put down your iPad and go to sleep. You have school tomorrow, right? Your teacher called Mommy because you skipped out again this morning! How long will you keep ignoring what Mommy says?” Shea scolded, exasperated.
Kai pressed his lips together in annoyance, glancing at his mommy standing beside his bed. "Mommy, you never listen to Kai. You never bring home a new daddy, always the same old daddy. Not even a maltabak." Kai grumbled.
Shea stared in disbelief; how could her son say that? A new daddy, he said? Shea slapped her forehead lightly. It was definitely his mother who had poisoned the thoughts of that adorable child. Originally, Kai had never demanded a new daddy, but recently that cute little boy had been asking for one. He claimed that all his school friends were picked up by their daddies, but he wasn’t.
"Kai, stop talking about a new daddy." Shea admonished.
"Oma said that mommy is a widow, so I can have a new daddy. Kai wants to be picked up by daddy, not by Mr. Cupil!" Kai shouted with frustration.
"Oh my God, sleep or ...,"
"MOMMY DOESN'T LOVE KAI! MOMMY ONLY LOVES BIG BROTHER! KAI WANTS A NEW DADDY IF THERE'S NO ONE TO LOVE KAI!" Kai yelled, shocking Shea.
Kai's breathing was heavy, his eyes glistening with tears. He stared at his mommy, his face flushed with suppressed emotion. Shea had never heard her little boy say such things before. This was the first time, and Kai even dared to shout at her.
"Go to sleep; you have school tomorrow." Shea requested, stepping out of her son's room. The woman's heart ached; she never expected Kai to say that to her. Shea gently closed Kai's bedroom door and rested her head against it, fighting back her tears.
"Mommy."
Shea lifted her head, and she saw a seven-year-old boy looking at her with an expressionless gaze. The corners of Shea's lips turned up; she wiped her face and quickly approached the boy.
"Azriel, aren't you asleep yet, darling?" Shea asked as she went to him, her firstborn son, Azriel Ezario Rowan, who was quiet by nature.
"Is little brother angry?" the boy asked with a worried expression.
"No, it's just that your little brother always cries when he's told not to do something. Come on, let's go to your room." Shea said, intending to take him with her.
"Mommy, I can go by myself. It’s better if you stay and accompany little brother to sleep. Goodnight, Mommy."
Shea stood in silence with sad eyes; she watched her son walk away from her. A heavy sigh escaped her lips; Shea's gaze fell to the floor. She felt that she couldn't be a good mother to both of her children. She hadn't been fair to either of them. Her divorce from her ex-husband had undoubtedly had a significant impact on her kids.
"Am I... a bad mother?" Shea's thoughts raced as she held back the tightness in her chest. She then decided to enter her room.

Tired from working all day, Zayn had fallen asleep sitting in a chair next to the gurney. The man didn’t realize that his grandmother had woken up and was watching him. The wrinkled hand of the elderly woman lifted, trying to stroke Zayn's head that was resting on the edge of the gurney. Before Grandma Dian could touch him, Zayn woke up first.
"Grandma, you're awake?" Zayn exclaimed with enthusiasm, his eyes still red from sleep.
"Are you tired? Go back to sleep; Grandma won't disturb you." The elderly woman said weakly.
Zayn shook his head; he grasped his grandmother's wrinkled hand and held it gently. Then, he placed that hand on his cheek, gazing at Grandma Dian with watery eyes. "I'm sorry, Grandma; I can't fully help with your treatment yet. But I will try to earn money, so you can get better," he said softly.
"Don't, dear. It's pointless. Grandma is old; soon I will join your grandfather." Zayn could no longer hold back his tears; his grandmother's words were truly heart-wrenching.
"Don't say that, Grandma. Who will I have if I don't have you? You're all I have; if you're gone, who do I have? Hiks ... Grandma has to hold on, I don't want to be alone." Zayn said, tears streaming down his face.
Grandma Dian's wrinkled hands gently caressed her grandson's face as she gazed at the handsome young man with tear-filled eyes. "You can find a wife, you’re old enough to get married," Grandma Dian said, attempting to lighten the mood.
"Grandma!! Ugh, Zayn is still a kid. What are you going to feed Zayn's wife later, rocks?" Zayn replied, exasperated.
Grandma Dian smiled, tenderly stroking her grandson's face. Since he was a baby, she had cared for Zayn, nurturing him into the handsome man he was now. She was all he had; if she gave up, she didn't know who Zayn would be with. But she was also weary from battling her illness at this time.
"Grandma hopes that there will be a woman who will love you sincerely," Grandma Dian whispered as she watched her grandson's smile.
After eating and taking his medication, Grandma Dian fell asleep again. Zayn turned on his phone, which he had turned off earlier. A message from Riki appeared, asking about his grandmother’s condition. Perhaps his friend had heard from Lita. He replied to Riki's message. Suddenly, Zayn fell silent.
"There’s a job opening at Wiratama company, should I give it a try?" Zayn muttered. His gaze shifted to his grandmother, who was sleeping soundly. Then he let out a heavy sigh; his head was pounding right now.
"I might as well give it a shot," Zayn decided.
