“Of course your fat ass is in the kitchen, in the ass crack of dawn, eating chicken no less,” Latora says walking into the kitchen, going to the refrigerator to pour her a glass of milk.
“And of course you’re the only person I know who can just down a whole glass of milk by itself with no cereal essence,” I say, rolling my eyes.
Latora pauses in the middle of her lifting the glass of milk to her mouth looking at me.
“Okay that sounded so wrong,” Latora says shuddering.
“But you’ll still drink it,” I say laughing.
“Forsure,” she says, drinking the milk.
Now I shudder.
“You might as well be Mrs. Clause, shall I get you some cookies to go with the milk.”
“Funny.”
“There’s plenty of time before Christmas, will there be a Jr, Clause soon?”
“Okay pastor's wife, you’ll be popping out babies as soon as you feed him some good old chicken.”
“You know what they say, the only way to a man's heart is through his stomach,” I say smirking,
“Give him some chicken after his sermon you might have a surprise at night.”
“Bake Santa some cookies in an apron, you won’t make it till Christmas.”
“You won’t make it to the kitchen.”
“Have you ever thought the reason why people don’t really see much of Mrs. Clause on Christmas?”
“Intrigued me.”
“Because she can’t walk.”
“Tish!” Latora laughs at me.
“You are nowhere close to being a preacher's wife,” Ophelia says walking in the kitchen looking half alive.
“You look dead,” I say
“You look like a Bubonic Monkey,” she replies, walking past me to sit down at the table.
Latora laughs.
“That's mean, Ope,” Bree says, walking in yawning.
“I know, but it's Tish,” Ophelia says.
“That's understandable,” Bree says, walking towards the fridge to get some bacon and eggs out.
“Is it just me or am I hated by our younger siblings,” I lean and say to Latora.
“I mean, it's understandable,” she says shrugging.
“Aren't you supposed to be on my side,” I say, hitting her upside the head as she laughs.
“It's the crack of dawn Bree, why are you cooking now,” Ope says.
“Well since some angelic heroes woke us up from a satisfying dream, and back to an earful of child breaking dreams, and a messed up reality that includes Santa and a Pastor, we might as well get up,” Bree says smiling.
We all look at Bree for a second.
“Bree is secretly scary, you know that right?” I whisper to Latora.
“She’s our sister, of course she has a dark side,” Latora says laughing.
“But she's supposed to be the innocent one,” I whine.
“I am innocent Tish,” Bree says, looking at me pouting.
“Usually the ones who claim to be innocent aren't really innocent,” Latora says to Bree raising her eyebrow.
Bree laughs, me and Ope look at each other.
“So it's Latora's fault,” I say astonished.
“That she's innocently corrupted, absolutely,” Ophelia says while drinking some orange juice - wait, when did she get orange juice.
“We can hear you,” Latora and Bree comments.
“I'm surprised Nora’s not up yet,” Latora says.
“I'm surprised you were even up,” I say to her.
“Yeah, usually you and Ope are the last ones down, and it takes until the afternoon to get y'all fully out of the bed if not later.”
“We're not that bad.”
“Yes y'all are.”
After Bree finishes cooking we sit at the table and begin to eat. Usually food brings Nora out of her room, she needs to eat.
“Nora how long are you going to stand in the dark living, come sit down and eat,” Latora says not looking up.
Of course her vigilant butt sensed Nora. Nora walks in the kitchen and looks at us.
“I should probably go eat in my room,” she says.
We all looked at her, and then I began to laugh because I know what this is about now. The girl still hasn't let the devil incident go. Nora looks at me confused.
“Nora…I didn't know you were such a wuss,” I say laughing up a storm.
Nora glares at me.
“Shut up-
“How about you shut up, sit down, and eat already. The only one holding on to that incident right now is you, and let's be honest here Nora, none of us are really the sappy Wisney Channel, I'm sorry type okay. Right now you're just afraid to face us, you claim you're going to kick our asses all the time and you can't take this much. I didn't know me and Latora raised such a wuss of a sister,” I say looking more straight in her eyes.
“I didn't either,” Latora says as she continues to eat.
Nora looks at both Latora and I, and we look back at her daring an objection.
“Sit down Nora, the reason why we were never picked on in school, and why we never lost a fight, is because we learned from the masters themselves, your sorry attitude won't win,” Ope says smirking.
We all go silent, then Latora snickers, causing me to snicker, then causing Ophelia to hide her face in her shirt, then Bree chuckles, and we Nora unwillingly lets out a snicker. At the end we all are busting out laughing, while Nora takes a seat and fixes her a plate of food. Mission accomplished. Latora looks at me with a knowing look. I may be the biggest asshole in the family, and seem like the most immature, but I can make this family smile, if we need it. Bree, Ope, and Nora may not know it, but I'm secretly the peacemaker, in my own little way.
