The kidnap

*Present day*

(Lysander Academy)

"Abel!, Abel!, PAY ATTENTION! WILL YA", the voice of a lady was heard throughout the whole place. The woman had a scorn on her face afterwards. She was really annoyed by what Abel was doing at the moment.

"Sorry, Miss Portia, I didn't mean to disturb the class am sorry. It will not happen again", he apologised briefly. All eyes were on him when he muttered out these words.

They were currently having a homeroom class with Miss Portia, their history teacher. She stood in front of a whiteboard with her hand propped against her waist. Her blue coloured sleeveless dress waved effortlessly around her figure each time there was a passage of wind.

Abel took a peek of the eyes watching him as he resumed his seat after his apology was made. He was dosing off in class and was caught by the teacher. Sitting at the back of the class had given him certain privileges others would reject. He could dose off without anyone spotting him. I guess Miss Portia wasn't one of those teachers. She was quite an observer.

Minutes passed and Abel had fallen into a deep slumber again without even noticing.

Miss Portia folded her arms and stared at the black haired fella who was dosing off at the back of the class. Her demeanour changed upon noticing the spectacle. She opened her right hand immediately while staring at the boy with contempt.

Swush!

A huge water ball the size of a football was created and was seen floating in her hand. Once the formation was complete, it was unleashed at an incredible speed towards Abel who was lost in his slumber.

The students stared in anticipation as they waited for the attack to reach its target.

PAH!

The sound erupted as Abel got hit by the attack. The attack had hit him directly in his face causing him to stumble and falĺ on his bottom. Heavy breathing could be heard from the back of the room since he begun to shiver due to the temperature of the water.

"A sneak attack, can't a useless being like me get some rest. I am not going to amount to anything after all", He muttered to himself in annoyance.

Outbursts of laughter were heard as the whole class ridiculed him. They just couldn't keep the image of his face when the water ball rushed into it. He looked so stupid and helpless.

"That scumbag had it coming", "He really deserved it", "Die already, you good for nothing freak". Several derogatory comments were passed about him. These comments were passed based how the children saw the incident.

"What is funny? Look forward! ", he muttered to himself. He stood from the floor while positioning his seat well as he sat on it.

"Who told you to sit on it?", Miss Portia's asked in a cold and chilly tone. Her sweet demeanour had disappeared almost in an instant to be replaced by a diabolical one.

Abel scratched the back of his head while staring at the teacher. He knew what to expect already and wasn't going to be shocked by whatever punishment he received from the teacher.

The class proceeded slowly afterwards with Abel been told to stand till class had ended. He was taken aback by this new punishment but since it was just another punishment it wasn't going to make him worried.

Miss Portia returned back to her initial posture and continued the class. On the whiteboard behind her were the words, "World history, The discovery of energy crystals and the revolution of the leaders". These words were written in a gold coloured digital ink which could be cleaned automatically by the board.

She picked a book from a desk positioned in the left corner of the room. The room was huge and could contain 100 students at most. The student desks in the room at the moment were around 95. Which meant the number of students present in the room were 95. They all seemed to be around the ages of 15 at least.

"Long ago, a breakthrough was made with the discovery of a new source of unimaginable energy. Energy which could power a whole continent for a millennium. This discovery was that of the energy crystals we now possess today. These crystals are the cornerstones of our lives.

Ever since they were placed in commercial facilities, domestic properties and industries, the world has been void of certain environmental problems which was caused when energy was generated from chemicals. The world became a wonderful place to live for most of us. Children whose umbilical cords were exposed to these energies from the crystals evolved with extraordinary powers the world had never seen before. Animals who were also exposed to these energies also mutated into monsters with similar powers the children possessed.

Few years passed and the spawning of these transmutated animals became rampant. The current government couldn't take care of the problem at hand. The animals had lost their sanity when they evolved and were killing the humans. The situation got out of hand and the population of the earth was rapidly decreasing due to this.

A secret meeting was held by five groups of evolved humans who couldn't bear the sight of losing their loved ones. They rebelled against the current governments killing most of the leaders at that time. They took over the affairs of the world in an attempt to save the population.

The earth was divided into five and was shared among these new groups to rule each portion they were given. Each group had a responsibility to take care of each part of the world they were assigned to.

Throughout the years the bloodline of the non-evolved humans perished. The world was now full of evolved humans with most having diverse powers based on the attributes of the crystal they absorbed at birth. The crystals comes in different colours excluding black. No one had ever spotted a black energy crystal before. It was believed to have never existed.

A few of the earth's new population were born without absorbing the power of the energy crystals. These people were given the opportunity to purchase pieces of refined energy crystals from the market. They could later absorb it when ever they wanted. Since no one knew each attribute each crystal held it was very tedious in predicting the kind of power each person could obtain from it. The required age for one to absorb a purchased crystal is 16 at least since by that time the body would have been matured enough to withstand the pain the process brought on it...", Miss Portia explained gradually as she read the book.

The school bell rang and it was finally time for school to close. The students rushed out of their classrooms heading towards the gates of school. Others waited for their parents to come get them.

Abel bolted out of the school with one of his eyes swollen. Riley Lionheart had done it again. The scars of what happened to him was seen clearly on his face. On the school 's timetable they were suppose to study 5 subjects per each day but for Abel it was 6. He had a special final lesson from bullies minutes before school closes.

"They could have just given me some medicinal pills!", he blurted out once he was out of the school.

After several minutes of walking, he reached a bus station and was already off to his apartment. He was an orphan from birth. He was told his mother died when she gave birth to him and his father got a heart attack on his way to the hospital and passed on. He had no idea of how they looked like but he prayed they were save wherever they were.

Abel reached his apartment's building and was now climbing the staircases. He lived in his deceased parents apartment. The agent who gave it to them told him that he could stay in it for as long as he wanted without paying.

Inside the apartment was a spacious living room, a well ventilated kitchen, a bathroom and two bedrooms. I guess one was for the parents and the other must have being prepared for the new born child. There was no gadget and appliances since he could hardly afford a three square meal each day.

All he had in his bedroom was a worn out wardrobe which contained some of his cheap clothes.

Abel undressed, took a shower and slept for a while. Around 9PM in the evening, his cellphone's alarm rang loudly which caused him to wake up instant. He checked the phone just to realise there were two unread messages. They were all from the same sender. He quickly opened them and they read:

"New delivery job is in, come to the shop around 9pm ASAP to get it", and,"Don't be late Abel, we don't want to upset the customer. Failure to reach there on time and you will pay with your cut".

Abel after reading the last part of the message almost felt his heart skip a beat. He hurried towards the wardrobe and suited himself out. He was done within no time. The cloth was a black suit with a bowtie tied around his neck. He later on left the apartment and proceeded towards the nearest bus station.

(Somewhere within the city)

Within the city were a cluster of skyscrapers aligned in an orderly manner. Among these huge but amazing buildings was one which displayed a blue coloured light all around it. Its tip reached out to the skies which showed one how amazing it was as compared to the others around it.

The building was one of the most busiest part of the city. People were always seen moving in and out of its doors nonstop. On top of the building was a bright neon sign displaying the name of the company which was, QuantumQuake. The sign could be seen from all parts of the city.

The glass doors of the building opened and a young boy wearing a black suit walked inside the building. The inside of the building was extraordinary, words couldn't express its elegance. It was just the ideal place anyone would like to do business. The boy walked towards the receptionist desk which was several feet away from the doors. The desk was circular in shape and had a small part of the curve missing for the receptionist to freely move in and out of it. The floors of the building were all tiled white. The place had several roaming in and out of it. The desk was white in colour just as most of the interior of the building. It had blue light glowing from its edges signifying that there was technological life in it.

"I'm here for the package", Abel told the receptionist and showed the message to her on his cellphone. She was also clad in a black suit with a scarf folded neatly around her neck. She smiled gently and bent down only to bring up a box with the company's name on it. The box had a QR-code attached to its back. Abel quickly scaned it with his phone and the destination of the buyer was uploaded onto it.

With that he proceeded to the parking lot of the building. That's where he noticed the delivery bike among the numerous cars parked in the area. Most of the cars were hovering above the floor. That was the new technology the company had invested in. He sat on the bike and was out of the building at an incredible speed. This was his first and last delivery for the day.

Moments passed and he had arrived at the destination. It was a seluded place on the outskirts of the city. His instincts were screaming at him to run but he couldn't chicken out on the money. He needed it in order to survive. This was just another delivery which had to be done in order for the green to flow.

The place he was now in was in the middle of nowhere. He was stuck on the main road which was surrounded by tall trees. He called the number below the code on the box to inform them he was at the destination with their package.

The call was a quick one and ended almost Immediately as it had started. Immediately after the call ended Abel felt his face being covered with a cloth by an unknown person. The person had a mask on his face and was clad in thick black full set armour. His vision became blurry and he was lost in oblivion. The unknown person's movements were swift almost unnoticeable by the naked eye. He carried the lifeless body of Abel and the package away into the woods.
