Chapter 4: Disadvantage

Lia Wagner felt dizzy after hearing this. She held onto the big pillow beside her, thinking that she must have drunk too much last night.

Drinking too much is still not good, it will cause hallucinations.

She must have read too many novels to hear Matteo Schneider say such things.

Because she heard Paul Müller say that last night, she put herself in the shoes of the heroine of the novel, imagining that she would be looked down upon and then marry a handsome, rich and chosen man of heaven, and laugh at Paul Müller and finally reach the peak of her life...

[Drank too much, drank too much, and drank less in the future.], Lia Wagner thought.

Lia Wagner raised her hand solemnly, patted her fair face, and tried to wake herself up.

Marrying Matteo Schneider is a dream for many people, and she is obviously dreaming.

She really needs to wash her face to wake herself up.

The man leaning forward paused, raised his slender white hand, lowered his black eyelashes, and slowly adjusted his watch, "As for Miss Wagner's benefits..."

The white fingers clasped on the watch paused slightly, and the man's voice was magnetic and pleasant, "After the divorce, you can get half of my property."

Lia Wagner had just lifted the quilt and wanted to get out of bed, and she was so scared that she almost fell off the bed when she heard his words.

Matteo Schneider was calm and composed. He took off the watch carefully made by a famous Italian craftsman, put it on the wooden high table beside him with his eyes downcast, and said in a low voice, "In our circle, it's all about marriage."

"If Miss Wagner also wants to marry, then I..." He paused, and laughed softly, "It should be your best choice."

Lia Wagner paused, and suddenly thought of Paul Müller's words at the dinner party yesterday.

[She is just an adopted daughter. Families like us still need to marry someone of equal status.]

Her adoptive father and mother were married through an arranged marriage, and so were Paul Müller's parents. In this circle, arranged marriages are indeed common.

They are all well-matched.

Lia Wagner lowered her eyes, her thick black hair covering her cheeks, revealing only half of her fair chin. She nodded thoughtfully, "Indeed."

If an arranged marriage is to be held, Matteo Schneider is indeed the best choice.

Her slender white fingers grasped the corner of the snow-white quilt, but he is Matteo Schneider!

If an arranged marriage is to be held, she should not be his best choice.

After all, she is just Familie Fischer's adopted daughter.

Even if she is not an adopted daughter, but Familie Fischer's biological daughter, she is still a lot worse than Matteo Schneider, and it is really not considered a well-matched marriage.

"Miss Wagner, you can consider it." Matteo Schneider lifted his eyelids and finally looked over. He looked relaxed and calm, as if he was talking about something very ordinary.

Lia Wagner lowered her eyes, and Paul Müller's words at the dinner party yesterday echoed in her ears again and again.

His words were like a knife. Just yesterday, this knife stabbed into her heart.

And last night, everything finally collapsed, completely shattering all her efforts over the years.

Matteo Schneider leaned there and looked at her for a few seconds, his eyelashes drooping, and he lowered his head for a few seconds. He didn't know what he was thinking, "Have breakfast first."

After saying that, he straightened up, as if he was going to leave.

At the moment when he turned his face away, the emotions that surrounded Lia Wagner like thorns and tangled threads seemed to be cut off by something, and she suddenly raised her head, "Matteo Schneider!"

The person who was about to turn around stopped and looked back at her.

The blue eyes looking at her had a hint of pride. He smiled with his lips curled, his Adam's apple with red marks rolled slightly, and his voice was as lazy and pleasant as ever, "It seems that Miss Wagner has already considered it."

The tone was calm and unhurried.

Lia Wagner took a deep breath, moved her eyes from the Adam's apple to the other's cold jaw, and asked softly, " If we get married, will you be at a disadvantage??"

Matteo Schneider raised his eyebrows slightly: "At a disadvantage?"

Lia Wagner's eyes fell on his face, but she seemed not to be looking at him. Her eyes were empty and unfocused. Her fingers tugged at her skirt and said in a muffled voice, "After all, we are not a good match."
