CHAPTER 5 : Normal Days part 1

Since the man I encountered is already in jail, the case of arson was closed. I also got some time for my self because of what happened.

*** Flashback after the man got captured

"Rheam, are you okay?"

I looked and smiled at uncle. 

"Yes uncle. I want to know something from the man."

He stopped me from going to the interrogation room.

"Wait, what? No. It's dangerous for you to go there."

"I'll be fine, uncle. Trust me."

"In one condition. Whatever you hear from that man, you will stop involving yourself with them. I will also give you a week of rest, a vacation without any case in hand."

My eyes widened and cannot believe what uncle said.

"Wait, uncle. Don't you think it is a bit unfair?"

"No, it is not. I'll give the cases you have in hand to ms. Sanchez and mr. Salvador. They will understand."

"NO, NO, NO uncle-"

I was cut off when he showed me his phone with my dad's name on it. And I fully understood.

"Fine, fine."

He smiled at me.

"Good. You can go there now."

Tss. I just rolled my eyes on him and went straight to the interrogation room.

"Good afternoon sir Rheam."

I nodded at the police. Mr. Salvador is sitting in front of the man while 3 police officers are surrounding the man.

"What are you doing here, Rheam? Did the chief permitted you to come here?"

"Yes mr. Salvador. I have his permission."

"Okay, so what are you doing here?"

"I have something to ask this man."

I looked at the man. He is calmly looking at me, no he is observing me.

"I have the honor to entertain your questions then mr. Prosecutor."

The man said while confidently smiling at me.

"Who are you? Who is the man you were waiting for that time?"

"Just like what I have told you last time. I have no right to tell you who he is."

I gritted my teeth. I am becoming impatient with this whole thing.

"I will not allow you and that woman to get out of this place. I will caught each one of you and destroy your group together with that man. I swear."

I seriously said and went out of the room. I have headaches. I don't want to be there anymore since I cannot get any answer for my questions.

~~ mr. Salvador's POV

I gulped after seeing and hearing what Rheam said. He is scary. The look in his eyes like he can actually kill with just one look.

"I will not allow you and that woman to get out of this place. I will caught each one of you and destroy your group together with that man. I swear."

His words sent shivers down my spine. Yes, this is the monster that he's hiding and only shows whenever he is in the court. Whenever he is impatient and mad, he will finish it immediately, flawlessly.

I looked at the man in front of him. The smiles on his lips slowly fades. His eyes widened with fear.

Yes, it is indeed natural to have this kind of reaction when you face a monster.

"Ahem."

I immediately break the silence in the room. Even the police officers here inside the room became stiff.

"As I have said earlier. You will spend time in jail for the case of arson and attempted kidnapping of one of the prosecutors."

He didn't say anything. I am also just observing him. He seems like he is in deep thoughts right now.

"Are you listening? Once again, tell us your complete name."

Still, he didn't answer. Maybe what Ianna showed made a big impact on him.

I looked at one of the police officer and signalled him to went out and get chief Kang. He immediately went out.

Still observing the guy, he is still not moving a single finger at all. He seems like hypnotized. Or maybe he is? After some seconds, he looked at me and smirked. I got alerted together with the police officers inside. 

To our surprise, he bites his tongue and fall dead.

"Call the medics. Immediately!"

The remaining police officers went out to call some help. While I went near the body on the floor. I examined whether he is still breathing but he really is dead.

I've once read about this kind of suicide. I didn't think this kind of suicide is known in this country. 

Come to think of it, if this person is connected to what Rheam said. Then, this is not just a simple group. Then I suddenly remembered the girl that they first put in jail. What if she ... My thought was interrupted when one police officer went in.

"Bad news, sir. The woman from the kidnapping case also took her own life."

I knew it. What the hell.

"Mr. Salvador."

"Chief. Bad news."

I explained everything to chief Kang and worries became visible on his face.

"This is not good. Rheam, that child."

I nodded. If this is really not just a simple group, it will be dangerous for Rheam.

"Call a meeting without Rheam and Justine."

"But the news about this suicide might have reached her ears by now, sir."

"It's inevitable. He will know the things because she's the one responsible for putting them in jail. But the meeting should not reach him. I have a deal with Rheam. He will have a leave for a week. I gave him a week of rest. If I were the one to make a decision, I'll have him went back to states with his family."

I understand his thoughts. Rheam is a monster in court, but he's still a human.

"But we all know he will not let that happen."

"This is not a simple case anymore. We have to be careful and protect the target."

"Should we tell this to Rheam's parents? Knowing their connections, it will be easy for them to protect him and to pin point the group that is targeting Rheam."

Chief Kang looked at me and shook his head.

"That's not easy. Knowing how protective they were to Rheam, they will force him to went back to states immediately and he will get mad at us."

Well, that's true. Rheam is scary as hell.

"Then we do not have a choice but to be cautious about this case and to not let him hear about this."

"Yes. This is a lot of work to do mr. Salvador."

"No, it's fine sir. As long as she will be safe."

We agreed to have a meeting late at night so Ianna will not be here anymore. I also accompanied chief Kang to make sure Rheam is no longer here in the company before starting the meeting.

"Rheam."

He's on his table, busy reading the cases he have.

"Chief Kang, mr. Salvador. What's the matter coming all the way here?"

He stood up and assisted us to sit on the sofa in his office.

"What would you like to drink and eat?"

"It's fine. We will not stay long. I am just here to remind you about the deal we had a while ago."

"Oh, yeah. I didn't forgot. I am actually organising the files that I'll transfer to mr. Salvador and ms. Sanchez."

Sadness is visible on his face. I know how dedicated to his work Rheam is. Giving up the cases that he have may have a big impact on him.

"Don't give that look, Rheam. My decision is final."

I almost choke when I saw him roll his eyes on chief Kang.

"Fine, fine. Where am I going to spend a week of vacation?"

"You will not be alone. Justine will be coming with you, of course."

"What? Why? I mean he needs it but it will affect his salary."

"For Justine, it is a paid vacation."

Justine smiled.

"Thank you, chief Kang."

"What? How about me?"

"Rheam, we all know that you are not into money. So don't give me a rant. Besides, I'll be the one to pay everything in you trip. All you have to do is relax and enjoy. Forget everything about work. Just enjoy."

I intently looked at Rheam. He is trying to read the situation. He is a smart guy so it is not new for him to observe and read the situation. I know there are doubts in his head now. But looking at chief Kang who is already blocking Rheam's reading, I know he will not know the plan.

"Fine, fine. As if I can do something when you are ready to tell my parents about what happened."

"It is settled then. You can now go back to your house and ready your things. Your flight will be tomorrow at 3am. The destination is an island in Coron, Palawan."

Wow, chief Kang ready prepared everything.

"Already? What the. Fine, let's go Justine. I'll drive and fetch you home."

"Thank you sir."

I am restricting myself not to laugh at Rheam's helplessness. 

"Bye uncle, by mr. Salvador."

I just nodded at him and when the two guys are gone, I looked at chief Kang. He is actually panting.

"What's wrong chief?"

"His deduction ability is really hard to block. I almost showed him the situation. In one wrong move and he will know everything."

"Do you think, he really believes you?"

"I think so. We do not have to worry. I already sent someone beside Justine to be with Rheam from shadows. They will be safe."

I just hope to that for the whole week of Rheam's absence, we will be able to uncover his potential suspect.

"Shall we go to the conference now?"

I just nodded and followed him.

I am reading and organising the files that I'm going to give ms. Sanchez and mr. Salvador when uncle and the latter went in my office.

"Chief Kang, mr. Salvador. What's the matter coming all the way here?"

I stood up and assisted them to sit on the sofa in my office.

"What would you like to drink and eat?"

"It's fine. We will not stay long. I am just here to remind you about the deal we had a while ago."

I scoffed.

"Oh, yeah. I didn't forgot. I am actually organising the files that I'll transfer to mr. Salvador and ms. Sanchez."

"Don't give that look, Rheam. My decision is final."

I rolled my eyes on uncle.

"Fine, fine. Where am I going to spend a week of vacation?"

"You will not be alone. Justine will be coming with you, of course."

"What? Why? I mean he needs it but it will affect her salary."

Justine smiled. Well, it is better that it's a paid trip for him.

"Thank you, chief Kang."

"What? How about me?"

"Rheam, we all know that you are not into money. So don't give me a rant. Besides, I'll be the one to pay everything in you trip. All you have to do is relax and enjoy. Forget everything about work. Just enjoy."

I intently looked at uncle. I am trying to read the situation. But to no avail.

"Fine, fine. As if I can do something when you are ready to tell my parents about what happened."

They both nodded at me. Justine is walking beside me.
