Losing it

(At their backyard)

Kaiden's heart was shuttered in to pieces witnessing the situation of his dog. His body freezes as it doesn't know how to react. He just stood there looking at his dog with his father. Bloods everywhere, and he just zoned out because he can't comprehend all the things that's happening.

What Kaiden saw is his father chopping his dog's body parts to dispose its body. He can't think of anything like he finally lost it. He's just staring at his father brutally stabbing and chopping his dog and did nothing. At that time, his father saw him and called him.

"Hey, come here and give me a hand" his father said.

Kaiden unconsciously came to the table and help his father dismantled his dog. His hand is shaking and trembling. Blood splashes to his face and clothes, but he's out of his mind. His mind and body become numb. Even though he's in this state, his tears continue to fall down from his eyes, to his chicks and to the ground. The pain is too much for him to comprehend and to handle. This made him lose his sanity that time.

His father saw him spacing out, so he intentionally cut his arm with a knife and apologized like it was unintentional.

"Oh, sorry. I didn't meant to cut you, it's just your arm is on the way that's why I cut you by mistake." his father said with a smirk.

Kaiden looked at his cut.

"–Oh, it's okay–" Kaiden said it with an emotionless response then wipe the blood with his hand which is also bloody.

Then Kaiden continues to dispose of his dog's body. His father left while laughing.

"Fucking, stupid dog, tearing my shoes up. Look at you now, you're like my shoes. All fucked up HAHAHA." his father mockingly said to his dog.

Kaiden then proceed to wash his body and rinse that stain of blood in his hands and arms. Mrs. Laura saw it and break down in tears. She can't help her own son because she's afraid of what her husband's actions.

(Many days passed)

(Inside of their house)

Kaiden is still in the state of shock. His mother can't talk to him as he ignored them all day and stay at his bed. His mother don't know what to do.

It's already morning, Kaiden woke up and changed to his uniform. He's still out of his mind and he leaves his room. As he walks to the door to their house, he saw in the corner of his eyes that his father was beating his mother again. He's still out of his mind, so he continued walking outside their house and went to school.

(At school)

While walking to the pathway, he bumped to students unaware of his surroundings. When he entered the school building, his bullies grab him and drag him to the rooftop. After reaching the rooftop, Kaiden was greeted with punches and eventually falls to the ground. They continue the assault and look for Kaiden's money, but they found nothing. So, in anger they start to kick him why he lies on the ground. One of the bully stop the other.

"That's enough, we might get caught. I mean look at his face, it's look like shit" Marko said.

"Fine, but let me punch him more" Jet stated, and he's about to punch Kaiden, but Marko stop him.

"~Knock it off Jet, you might end up killing him~" Marko said in an anxious voice.

Jet looked at Marko with an annoyed look.

"The hell are you talking about? Who do you think your talking to? Do you want me to punch yo—" Jet replied but the bell rings and Pete intervened.

"(Sigh) Stop it, both of you. The bells are ringing. Let's go" Pete said with calmness.

Jet stops and still kicked Kaiden in the stomach one last time.

"You lucky bastard. See you later." Jet said with a grin.

(The bullies left)

Kaiden was left alone at the rooftop. He took all the punches, but it seems that it doesn't bother him. He was so used from getting beaten by his father, so it's like a normal day for him. Even though it doesn't affect him physically, it hurts him emotionally. He lies on the ground and cried.

"I wanna die. It hurts. My body is breaking. What the hell is my purpose to live? Be their punching bag?(thinking of his father) or be their walking wallet?(thinking about the bullies)." he said to himself then cough with blood.

"The hell am I supposed to do? I can't even fight back. I'm weak. I'm so weak. I wanna die. Can someone help me? Is there anyone who's willing to take my side? No one right? Right?" he added then he closed his eyes and smile like it was the end.

"Kaiden! Kaiden!" someone's calling.

He heard his mother's voice calling out his name.

"M-Mom?...You'...re sa...fe?" he said with a smile and loses consciousness.

(Inside of Kaiden's dream)

Kaiden is sitting by his study table doing his homework. His mother called his name to eat lunch. He got up and head to the dinning room. When he got there, he was hesitant to eat with his father. Trauma and fear hugged his body and he can't move an inch by just seeing his father. His mother grab his hand and drag him to the table. The touch of his mother's hand removes his fear and trauma, and gave him a sign of relief. But something's off. They are happy and the mood is so warm. It's like a dream. His father was laughing genuinely with his mother but it never ever happened before. Anxiously, he starts to eat too.

"Kaiden..." a call from his father.

He trembles in fear and looked to his father with hesitant.

"How was your day at school?" Mr. Kennedy asked with a genuine smile.

Kaiden was shocked, and he can't believe what he was seeing. He replied to his father with:

"~N-Nothing much, it's cool~" he nervously replied while looking down.

Mr. Kennedy was confused and got up on his chair. He approached Kaiden, and he bent over to see Kaiden's face. Kaiden got scared, and he look away from his father.

"Are you not feeling well? Why are you sweating a lot? Come here, let me take a look." Mr. Kennedy asked and turns Kaiden's head to face him.

Mr. Kennedy placed his hand on Kaiden's forehead and smile.

"You looked fine. Maybe you're raring to go to the toilet? HAHAHA" his father jokingly stated and laughed.

Kaiden was confused but he saw this as an opportunity to process what the hell is going on. He went to the toilet and when he opened the door and got inside, he was shocked that he was in his room. Confused, he observed his room and he saw himself crying on the side of the bed to something covered underneath the bedsheet. He was stunned by this, but eventually he snapped out of it and walk towards the bed. He saw himself sleeping with swollen eyes from crying, so he looked what's underneath the bedsheet. His world crumbles, and his heart breaks into pieces as he saw his mother's corpse in his bed. Face full of bruises and swollen eyes she get from getting beaten. Skin so pale and thin from mistreatment from his father. He saw his other self wake up, and they looked at each other.

"What the hell are you doing here? You let mom died. You're fucking, useless… Brat. It's your fault that mom died. It's all your fault." his other self angrily stated with vengeance in his eyes.

"You lost your goddamn dog? I don't give a fuck. You're mother is suffering and yet you're out of your mind, getting beaten by those fucking, good for nothing bullies and wandering around while spacing out?" his other self added.

"You lost your fucking dog? What about your mom? You forget about your mom because of your dead dog? You only focus on to something you've lost and forget what you still have. What a pity. That's why you stayed weak and coward. You're the one who deserves to die and not mom." his other self yells at him.

Kaiden was surprised by this and process it in his mind. He's so confused that all he did was run out of his room. When he got out he bumped to his father. With a knife on his father's hand, he trembled in fear and falls to the ground. When he was about to get stabbed, he woke up. He was sweating and shaking.

(end of dream)

(At the rooftop)

"(Sigh) ~huh?~" he looks around, and notice that he's still at the rooftop, and it was already late.

"~Oh shit. I'm dead. Mom will get mad at me~" he stated while in panicked.

Kaiden got up and left the rooftop in a rush.

(On the street)

On his way home, he tries to remember what happened this morning, but his memory is fuzzy. He remembers his dream, but he forgot what it is all about.

"What the hell is that? Someone died and I can't remember it clearly. For fuck sakes!" he whispered with disappointment.

He shake his head and continued walking.

(After an hour of walking)

Kaiden arrived at their home. As he opened the door, he was shocked from what happened.
