Episode Two

Scene one at the office*

Maria: (on phone) hi lady! Sup?

Annette: a lot, I’ve gone quarter of my day and I thought I’d come see you.

Maria: ouhh! you’d be at luck, Titan is around.

Annette: good news then, at least he’ll see how much I love you and treat you good.

Annette: dream on lady, k see you soon.

Maria: bye.

Half an hour later there’s a knock on Fairy’s office door.

Maria: yeah, come in.

Annette enters, they hug each other. 15 minutes in, Titan enters.

Trevor: (opens door) MariaI have… (pauses after seeing Annette) so?

Annette stands and introduces herself

Annette: my name is Annette. I’m Sis’s friend.

Trevor: by sis I suppose you’re talking about Maria

(grins at her) Annette, I need the big news about political recent happenings (turns to leave)

Maria: I’m sorry no sir...

Trevor: excuse me?

Fairy: I’m sorry sir but even Hi Ji Newspaper is limited with some news besides, stuff about politics isn’t my field.

Trevor (turns in rage) shut up, why do you think you’re in this position? I promoted you because I thought you would be a good head. You need to put your skinny head to the ground and pick up news or you’re fired!

Annette can’t help seeing her sis scolded

Annette: (interrupts) if you would permit me sir or maybe not, you can’t scold her like that at least not in front of me. I have some valuable news for the newspaper, it will be released in no time and other news papers will start scrambling for it and who knows, you may be the last to get the news.

Trevor: let’s hear it.

Annette: (sits) I didn’t fully introduce myself. I’m Annette , woman of business. I teach online, English is my thing plus, i don’t give out valuable information for nothing so you, mister boss, are you willing to trade?

Trevor: (Leans towards her) woman of business, huh? What do you want?

Annette: it’s simple, respect.

Trevor: respect?

Annette: respect, sis is human and she works here doesn’t make her a machine so, you want my information, lets trade by batter. You have what I want, I have what you need so let’s make it snappy if you don’t mind.

Trevor: (stretches his hand) it’s a deal then.

Maria looks at Annette who smiles

Annette:(ignores) the paperwork Mr. Trevor, the paper work.

Trevor: (surprised) you really are a woman of business.

Scene two.

At Titan’s office (the next day).

Annette and Trevor in his office discussing about political news.

Annette: first of all, our president went to New York last week and the was a big argument in a meeting he had with the city council which led to his death.

Trevor: yes, I heard it on the news, the death of the New York City council.

Annette: that’s right, you heard it from another newspaper and couldn’t dare to do anything because it was already public.

Trevor: how do I know what you’re saying is true?

Annette: it’s clear that you have very little memory Mr. T. I am an online English teacher with pretty amazing students from different parts of the world who help me with info wherever, whenever. So now you get it?

Trevor: get to it.

Annette: plus, last week in villanelle, our first lady fell into a pool, and it completely ruined her make-up, the guards tried to stop people from taking photos, but they were late. All photos taken were warned not to be published, but I have one in my phone right now.

Trevor: let me see (Annette shows him the photo) Oh My God! that’s pretty bad for her image.

Annette: (nods) I know, it could be some serious payback after that intense quarrel with the first lady threatening to shut down Hi Ji Newspaper, don’t be surprised that I know that.

In a moment, Trevor is lost looking at Annette who’s quite a talkative. He’s so lost that he isn’t even hearing what she’s saying at the moment. Annette notices it and tries to get back his attention.

Annette: Trevor Mr. (waves) Titan!

Trevor: (comes together) what did you call me?

Annette: Nothing!

Trevor: what? Do you think you mouth is soundproof? I heard you call me Titan

Annette: (guilty) I’m sorry, are you upset?

Trevor leaves his seat and stands behind Annette

Trevor: it’s a sweet name, plus, it’s powerful. And to reciprocate, how about I call you Annie?

Annette smiles and stands, she wants to leave

Annette: Anyway, so this is an alliance then, I’m only doing this for Maria(turns) she’s my best friend, a sad girl. I want her to be happy even for a little even though I can’t do much.

Trevor holds her hand

Trevor: the thoughtful Annette, I think I might like you.

Annette: (releases her hand) I’m not a wonder woman, Titan (exits).

Trevor: (whispers) no Annette, no you’re not a wonder woman, (turns) but you might be my Wonder Woman (smiles).

 *Scene three*

At Maria's office,

Maria is putting some books on the shelf in her office.

Annette: (enters) hi sis!

Maria: newest employee.

Annette: please (sits) I could never work here

Maria: tell me, I’m curious. What happened btw you and titan, how was it?

Annette: what else can I say sis (rests) the guy is too intense, but he’s head is full time in the game, he was really picking the details and asking questions where necessary.

Maria: (bored, groans) uugh, lady! When will you grow up? (hits Maria on the head with a book) who’s asking the crazy stuff you two did?

Annette: other banging my head with such a big book, you can ask me what you wanna hear already sis.

Maria: (sits) other than work and all that junky political stuff you guys spoke about, what else happened?

Annette: ohhh, well you see, while I was talking, the dude seemed kinda lost in thought though he was still staring but for a minute, I thought he was glowering at me. After that, heard me call him titan.

Maria:(covers her mouth with her hand) no he did not.

Annette: yes, he did sis. And… he said it was… sweet.

Maria: (shocked) sweet? He heard you call him Titan, our secret and not only are you still alive and not in jail or undergoing torture, but he said it was sweet?

Annette: chill sis, it’s just a name isn’t it?

Maria: darling, you don’t know no news. Titan had our company’s best printer confined and tortured for letting his sweat drop on one of our newspapers, talk less of a non-employee who’s just giving little information calling him something which doesn’t respect him and isn’t his name, lady, something’s up, and it smells good.

Annette: all that doesn’t shake me except or something else that he said.

Maria: By what did he say?

Annette: uhm he said, yeah! “The thoughtful Maria, I think I might like you.”

Maria wants to scream, but Annette luckily closes her mouth

Annette: sis, shush. You’re too much of a person, don’t think far sis, you’ll only get yourself in trouble. Anyway, I’m going now, I have a class with a student at 3:30pm.

Maria: okay, but can’t you have it here?

Annette: yeah, I could, but I might end up having an attack from Titan.

Maria: (laughs) Maria, you’re funny as always

Annette: Fairy, I know (sadly) honestly, I wish I’m always here with you, my dad’s a pain even though he means well.

Maria: I’m glad you inderstand his reasons for his nagging. Plus, you need a man for real so you don’t end up like me and I have someone in mind.

Annette: who?

Maria: Titan of course and it’s not a joke.

Annette: you sicko, I’m going to be late for the online class so we’ll discuss this later and it’s not a joke (exits)

Maria: Annette, you really don’t know how pretty you are, do you? Now God just gave a big chance having you work with titan. Even so, he’ll be kind to you for now because he needs information from you but this might be your chance or an opportunity to win him over. If I were in your place, I won’t stand a chance but you, you’re too pretty and all but sadly, you’re also a very naïve girl, stupid enough not to see things and understand them properly, you’re very childish and admit it or not, you’re also a full time daddy’s little Annette(laughs) but don’t worry, as your bestie, I’ll whip you to shape.
