FEW MONTHS LATER
It had been a few months since we lost everything, and though I couldn't pinpoint our exact location, one thing was certain—we were far removed from our destroyed territory.
"Mamamamama," Eli called out, his voice filled with innocence and sweetness.
I couldn't help but smile at his adorable babbling.
"Yes, my baby boy," I replied, my heart swelling with love for him.
Elijah had started to associate me with the term "mamma" in the past few days.
Anna had always longed to hear Elijah call her "mamma," but she was no longer with us.
I hoped, wherever she was, she found peace and happiness alongside my brother.
I despise rogues... because of them, we've been forced into this life of rogues. They've taken everything from us, leaving us with no choice.
As Elijah shifted and began to playfully circle around me, eventually climbing into my arms, I couldn't help but smile at his innocence.
He gestured for me to hold him close, but I knew we couldn't linger in one place for too long.
"No, my baby... we have to keep moving. We can't stay here," I explained gently, earning a disappointed whine from him.
He nodded in understanding, but his playful energy remained as he began to jump around. Shifting back into my wolf form,
I watched as my little boy attempted to catch his own tail, his determination bringing a smile to my face.
Aneesh nudged him gently with her nose, signaling that it was time to move on.
With Eli walking beside me and Aneesh pacing patiently, we continued our journey, our little family united against the challenges that lay ahead.
After hours of walking, exhaustion began to weigh heavily on me. "oh god why did you have to give so much stamina to these little ones?" I muttered to myself, feeling drained both physically and emotionally.
Yet, Elijah continued to walk with seemingly boundless energy, urging me to keep up with him.
Aneesh attempted to slow Fenris down through our mindlink, but her words only seemed to invigorate the little creature, causing him to run even faster in excitement.
Suddenly, before I could react, Fenris darted across the border into unknown territory.
Panic surged through me, my heart racing as I sprinted after him, desperate to reach him before any harm could befall him.
before I could pull him....As Fenris shifted into his little human form and stumbled, falling onto his backside, tears welled up in his eyes as he looked back at me for reassurance.
My heart clenched with worry, knowing I had to retrieve him from this dangerous territory.
Slowly, I stepped across the border, offering comfort with gentle licks to Fenris's tear-stained cheeks.
He reached out his hands to me, seeking my protection, but in my wolf form, I was unable to lift him.
Closing my eyes to concentrate on shifting back into my human form, a sudden force knocked me to the ground.
Pain shot through me as I collided with the earth, leaving Fenris even more terrified as he began to cry out in fear.
As Elijah cried, Aneesh positioned herself protectively in front of him, ready to defend him with ferocity against any threat.
The air crackled with tension as two men stood before us in their human forms, while two others loomed nearby in their wolf forms.
"Who are you?" the man in front asked, his voice carrying a dominant aura that hinted at his status as the beta of this pack.
"Shift!" he ordered, his command ringing out with authority. Aneesh bristled at his demand, her irritation evident as she stood steadfast in her protective stance, unwilling to comply with his orders.
"I can't shift in front of these fools," Aneesh seethed angrily in my head, her frustration palpable.
"Calm down, Aneesh," I urged her gently, attempting to soothe her agitation.
Turning my attention back to the situation at hand, I glanced at Eli, who continued to cry inconsolably.
The beta's words seemed genuine as he assured us they wouldn't harm our pup.
Reluctantly, I knew I had to shift. Despite my reservations, Eli needed me.
With a resigned sigh, I began the transformation, allowing my human form to emerge once again.
After shifting into my human form, a man tossed a shirt towards me, gesturing for me to cover up.
Feeling self-conscious under the scrutiny of their gazes, I hurriedly pulled the shirt on, grateful for the modesty it provided.
Taking Elijah into my arms, I pressed a tender kiss to his head, soothing him as he began to calm down.
He snuggled closer to me, finding comfort in my embrace.
As I held my son, I noticed the other men looking at us with a mixture of surprise and admiration.
Aneesh bristled with annoyance at their stares, her protective instincts flaring up in response.
Despite the tension in the air, I focused on comforting Elijah, grateful for this moment of peace amidst the uncertainty.
