The sound of a car horn interrupted my thoughts.
"Hey! What are you staring at? Have you also fallen into the Alpha's net?" my friend asked mockingly.
I couldn't help but feel nervous. We wolves have very good hearing, so I don't doubt that the Alpha heard her. I quickly got into the car, almost falling on my face.
(Sara's car)
In a second, I was already inside the vehicle. "Please, don't say nonsense. An Alpha would never notice a simple Omega, much less someone who isn't his mate! Lucky you, coming from a family of pure Betas. Besides, if I were to fall in love with an Alpha, I doubt I'd be to his liking," I said, while watching Alpha Leon from the car's mirror.
It wasn't long before I stopped seeing him in the mirror. My friend didn't say anything else, she simply put on music and sang like a crazy person. She loved to sing and dance like that, so doing it was normal.
I finally arrived home, shouting as always, "Mom, I'm home!" You might think I'm crazy for doing that, but it's a way to let my mother know that she's not alone. I don't know if you understand my point.
"Good, honey," my mother replied, "come and eat, your plate is already served."
That was strange, when I got to the kitchen, only my plate was on the table. My mother always eats with me when she's home.
"Why is there only one plate on the table? Didn't you wait for me, Mom?" I pouted. "I'm sorry, honey, I ate ahead because I have to go out."
"Wait, where are you going? Don't tell me that..." I said playfully. I know my father died just a year ago, and the truth is that fact hurts me a lot, but I think my mom deserves a second chance and when that happens, I'll be there for her. My comment was so that she would know that I would never judge her, no matter what.
"Silly girl, don't talk nonsense," she scolded me. "A moment ago, I received a call from the Alpha, he asked me to go to the pack house. Apparently, he wants to talk about something important with me, so I have to go there."
"Our Alpha? Are you referring to Alpha Leon?" I asked, surprised.
"Yes, I'm referring to him. Now tell me, daughter, do you know him?"
"Well, know him as know him, no! But I've seen him, he studies at my university. Besides, the girls do nothing but talk about him."
"It's better that way, daughter, and please stay away from him. He's a pure-blooded Alpha, he's not only Alpha in name, but he's also very powerful and dangerous. Much more than his father," my mother said with a little fear in her voice.
"Don't worry, Mother, he's our Alpha, he won't hurt us."
"Emily, he doesn't like Omegas, he has a certain prejudice towards us. I mean, he takes care of all of us, but we're more of a hindrance than a benefit to him, for that reason he's not friendly at all with those of our rank. So please, stay away from him, do you understand?"
"Yes, Mom, I understand," I replied. Apparently, in no way can we afford to offend him.
Suddenly, I felt a sense of anguish and sadness inside me, and I didn't know why.
Emily's Mom
I was nervous about the Alpha's sudden call, also, coming here brings me endless emotions. In this place, they gave me the lifeless body of my mate, also here we said goodbye and burned his body, as tradition dictates.
When they saw me and realized my presence, everyone greeted me and I, well, returned the greeting with a smile, in a courteous manner. Everyone here knew me, I was the Gamma wolf's mate. My husband died in the so-called war, saving the life of the former Alpha, with everyone feeling proud of him.
"Mrs. Hernandez, it's a pleasure to see you again, come with me, Leon is already waiting for you," said Liam, the Alpha's Beta.
I walked behind him to the Alpha's office, the most dominant and terrifying man I had ever seen. Great stories are told about him, where those who fought alongside him, give faith and legality to the stories.
"Good afternoon, Alpha," I bowed. "It's an honor that you ask for my presence."
"Mrs. Hernandez. It's a pleasure to see you, it's been a long time since I last saw you. How is everything?" he asked while observing me fixedly.
"All good, Alpha, now, could you tell me how I can help you?"
"Well, I'll get to the point, I want to know about your daughter."
"About Emi, what's wrong with her, Alpha?" I was in shock, I couldn't believe the call was for my little one.
"What's her name?" he asked.
"Emily Jaret," I replied.
"Where has she been in these last years? I don't remember having seen her in my succession ceremony, nor in my birthdays," he asked while analyzing me in detail.
"Well, she was out of the pack since she was 11 years old, not belonging to any pack. She lived and studied among humans and only returned because of her father's death."
"Just as I thought, a weak and vulnerable wolf," he sighed.
"Did you say something?" I asked, I heard him murmur something, but I couldn't hear it.
"It's nothing, I just wanted to know about her, I didn't know her in the pack, so I needed to know who she was. It's my responsibility to keep all the members of my pack safe. Strangers are not welcome."
"She's not a stranger, Alpha," I didn't hesitate for a second to reply to his words, if it was about my pup and no matter how Alpha he was, my daughter is my blood.
"Calm down, that's why I sent for you."
The next morning
"Emi, tell me the truth, do you and the Alpha know each other? And don't lie to me, please."
"What? Really, Mother, I've only seen him twice at the university and it's been in passing. Why are you asking me that?"
"Well, honey, what happens is that the Alpha asked about you." I couldn't help but look at her suspiciously.
"About me?" she asked, puzzled, making me understand that she was telling the truth.
"I don't know why he asked about me, I swear I haven't done anything."
"Hahaha, calm down, little one, but even so, stay away from him."
"Yes, Mom, I promise you."
