Chapter: 4

Griffin's pov...

For days, I've been having dreams about a girl, but I can't make out her face. What could these dreams mean? Every time I'm about to see her face, I wake up without knowing what happened. I woke up in the hospital with no recollection of how I got there.

Five years ago...

"Where am I?"

Tanner approached me, taking a seat beside me. "You're in the hospital, bro."

I adjusted my sitting position and asked again, "What happened?"

Phoenix, my brother, was sitting in an empty chair next to my bed. "Someone shot you. It's a good thing people saw you in the park, and brought you here to the hospital. You also got hit in the head by something heavy, so expect you to have forgotten something."

"Really someone shoot me?" I asked Phoenix in disbelief.

"I also heard you were with a girl at the park," said Cody, my other brother who was now sitting at my feet on the bed.

"What girl? I don't understand." I was confused, so Phoenix gently squeezed my left hand and smiled.

"Don't dwell on that, bro. It might just make things more complicated for you. In time, your memories will come back."

"What happened to the person who shot me?"

"We've taken care of it, so don't worry," Cody said, munching on an orange.

"Get well soon," Tanner added while peeling an apple.

"Damn, I can't remember anything!"

"Who could be the girl Griffin was with when the shooting happened?" Tanner suddenly asked about the events five years ago.

"From what I heard people say, she's Griffin's girlfriend. He didn't want to introduce her to us," Cody replied, pouring Jack Daniels into two glasses.

I took the glass Cody handed me, filled with Jack Daniels, and we both drank. "Griffin just didn't want that girl to get involved. You know our family background, right, Cody?"

"I know, Tanner. That's why he left home to be with that girl, and he didn't want to marry Pearl at that time."

I nodded in agreement with Cody's statement. "It's unlikely we'll find that girl now; it's been five years since it happened." Tanner shrugged as he sat back in his chair, and I handed him another glass of alcohol.

"I noticed that Hannah doesn't come here anymore. Did you two fight again?" Tanner asked Phoenix who had just arrived.

I grinned, and leaned on the big sofa because of Tanner's question, and obviously suppressed his laughter "She's mad at me again; she walked out suddenly after leaving me alone. Is it my fault bros? Is it my fault that I was born handsome and women flocking to me?"

"Hays! Just leave! Your arrogance, Phoenix, will never change," Cody said irritably, grabbing his hoodie from the back of the chair.

"Why? It's true that I'm handsome, right?"

"No comments!" Tanner and Cody said together. Just in time, Griffin also came out of his room. So I asked him when Pearl was coming back.

"Griffin, when is Pearl coming back here?"

"Maybe next week..." I replied nonchalantly, uninterested in Phoenix's question.

"By the way, are you all ready for tomorrow?"

"Why? What's happening tomorrow, Cody?"

"School starts again, Tanner. So, wash your uniform because I'm tired of doing it for you."

Tanner's pov...

I hate going to that school. But Dad threatened to take away all our credit cards and dispose of our cars if we don't study.

"Wait, bro, I'll answer this; Pearl is calling." Griffin said, picking up his phone.

"Hello, babe! I miss you so much, but don't worry because I'll be back soon." My girlfriend is really sweet; you can tell she truly loves me. It might sound effeminate, but I'm really thrilled right now.

"I miss you so much, too. I'll wait for your return. I love you so much." I said to Pearl with a smile, and when I looked at the three, they had broad smiles on their faces, pretending to be amused. Like fools!

"So sweet, I didn't know, bro, that you're that sweet when talking to Pearl on the phone."

"You should talk to Hannah the same way, so she won't leave you." I teased Phoenix, who seemed shocked by what I said.

I put on my jacket and mask; I need to see Hannah now!"Hannah will leave me? That won't happen. I'm leaving; I have plans.

"Is the race going to happen tonight?"

"I don't know, but let's see. Tanner if anyone challenges us."

"I hope the cool chikababes will challenge us." Tanner, always thinking about the girls, that's why we lose, because he makes sure our female opponents win.

"Hey! Where are you going?" I asked Phoenix.

"I'm going to see Hannah." I yelled at Tanner which irritated me because he had been making fun of me earlier.

"I thought you weren't afraid of being left behind by Hannah?" Griffin joined in the teasing now.

"I'm not!"

"Just admit it... That even though you're handsome, you're still afraid Hannah might leave you." Griffin didn't say anything more.

"One more thing, Griffin, I'm really going to punch you!" Phoenix said annoyed so Cody, Tanner and I just laughed.

"Calm down, Phoenix; he's just joking."Said Cody

"If Pearl leaves you, I'll laugh at you!" I pointed at Griffin.

I was outside Hannah's house, pressing the doorbell, which the maid quickly answered.

"Is Hannah here?"

"She left just a while ago."

"Do you know where she is?"

"She didn't say, she just left."

"Please tell her I came by. Also, tell her to call me."

"What's your name?"

"Tell her it's Phoenix."

"Has he already left?" I asked Yaya because I told her to tell Phoenix that I left.
