"Lady, when will you wake up?", a young energetic and sobbing feminine voice made me sit upright with a jolt and my eyes now widely opened. The scenery in front left me in deep thoughts as I giggled to myself.
"Wow! Did I get a royal estate in Heavens??", I said as my eyes fixed on the girl who is standing before me in a maid cosplay dress giving me a look of surprise, with puffed eyes, tears still visible on her face.
"My lady ?? My lady is awake??", with a relieved smile, she wiped away her tears as she ran out of the lavish room mumbling something about Doctor.
Wait ! Doctor?? But I am already dead. Doctor is not going to be on my list now. A throbbing pain coursed through my wrist as I lifted my hand in air and saw my wrist all wrapped up with bandage.
Just then I realized that my hair was blonde?? Since when??
Shifting blanket from over me, I got out of that magnificent bed and walked toward the dressing table that also felt like that of royalty.
The reflection staring back at me wasn't me. It's a girl standing maybe in her teens ,with a voluptuous figure adorned in most silkiest dress , ethereal beauty that surpasses all the actressesI have seen, pale skin as if even a little scratch will be visible, oceanic blue eyes that were twinkling and sunshine blonde hair.
Taking a step back, in bewilderment I tripped over my own steps and fell on my back. "This is not me!", I stuttered as I stood up, my hands trembling.
Spotting the door, I sprinted out of it. The hallway that unfolded in front of my eyes seems endless as all the decorative curtains and the expensive carpet under my feet blurred.
I finally reached the end of path that divided into three ways. I took the middle one without thinking twice. Furthermore, I don't know why I am running like this, but I just don't feel like facing this reality. I just want to run away.
My foot hurts, but my mind is telling me not to stop. A group of three to four people along with that maid cosplay girl appeared right in front of me. My head is reeling like crazy, and I don't think I can handle these people.
"My lady?", I flinched at that mention and noticed they are all giving me a look of sympathy. It's making it even worse.
"I- I am not the lady you keep calling me, let me go", I stuttered all the words I had in my head.
"That Fever must've affected her memory, somehow ", a middle-aged gentleman dressed in gothic clothing said. I took a step back as I realized what they're getting at. I sprinted in the opposite direction as they all started to catch up to me.
After total of three hours of running I was still lost in that huge mansion. I couldn't get out of it. It was like an endless maze.
Finally, I decided to stop for a while as I found a dark old room that was quite rusty and seem like forgotten for ages. I took shelter in there.
As I entered in there, I locked the doors first and found a big family portrait just in front of me. A handsome man sitting on a rather antique wooden chair, a beautiful woman just beside him was standing looking like a real epitome of a real Lady, along with a boy who was young enough to be called as a 10 yr old and a little girl with a giddy smile who was around five to six. The dress code is rather weird.
And from a glance people can say it's a happy family but in my perspective, it's a facade they are showing of a happy family, well it was quite relatable.
The old memories made my head throb as I took my step towards the portrait, on reaching there my hands instinctively touched the cold portrait, colors felt a little greasy on my skin.
My eyes glued to the little girl as I suddenly saw my past self in her. Even though looks are different, but the look in her eyes makes me want to empathize with her.
My vision blurred as I lost consciousness again. With a thud, collapsed on the icy marble floor.
"Hey! Won't you help me??", a melodic sweet voice called out to me forcing me to wake up, but I resist it but as all the memories of my death and waking up in that place in someone else's body rushed into my head I woke up immediately.
"Oh! You awake?", She said again as I looked around and saw a small cottage that was quite average, grassland as far as my eyes can wander, clear blue sky and wait! The same little girl from that portrait??
"Y-yeah, but where is this?? Am I finally in heaven?", I kept blabbering as she stared at me as if she just met someone she knew.
Instead of saying a reply she rushed to me and hugged tightly as if she would never let go.
