Ian had already stated running down the corridor. Dean snatched the gemstone and ran. He didn't care about the lasers, he just ran through them.
The new plan was now to get to the exit while running away from the guards. The aim was to look for a staircase either going up or down.
The ran through the maze of white, clean and polished corridors but to no avail they didn't find a single staircase.
The finally turned to what seemed like the last corridor, and they found a staircase, but luck wasn't on their side there was a masked guard standing in the way.
Normally, the guards held either pistols or riffles, but this one was different. He held an unsheathed katana. Dean wondered why would this guard decide to use such crude weapon when there are new modern equipment.
Dean brushed this thought and brought a small black pistol from his pocket. He shot it. The man perfectly cut the bullet. Dean shot three more bullets, but the man dodged the first two and cut the last one.
It was as if this was the recreation of a martial arts master immersed in a modern world. Dean saw that his long ranged bullet attack didn't even make the man flinch so, he decided to bring the fight much closer. He then brought out a small dagger.
On seeing this, the guard decided to lunge forward and attack. He gave a slice, but it was blocked by Dean. He gave another, but Dean dodged it. It just several rounds of strikes, blocks and dodges.
Fifteen minutes later, more guards could be heard coming behind them. Dean was already feeling he was about to drop while his opponent was looking like he could go on for hours.
Ian knew he could not do anything. He knew if he'd go and join them it would be a typical death sentence. Ian knew he'd be a dead weight if he joined, but Dean was losing endurance fast and was going to get seriously injured.
Dean knew he couldn't carry on with this fight. He needed to stop this fight and carry on with the mission, but how?
Dean hatched up a plan with his mind. It may sacrifice him being injured. He turned round and threw the bag to Ian. There was no use of signalling for Ian to run away, he had gotten the point quickly.
The guard had scrapped Deans skin with the katana, but no redness could be seen because of his black attire. Dean turned back to continue the fight. It was as if a new-found energy had been given him to fight.
Ian had already passed them and continued running to the stairs. He found the trapdoor and went out. He started feeling guilty about leaving Dean behind, but what could he do.
On the other hand, Dean was seriously fighting the man and still thinking of a formidable escape plan. Just then a gang of six guards came to join in the fun.
