Hunting The Origin

Hunting The Origin

Chapter 1: My Half-sister and I

The sound of a crash woke me up from my nap. A nap that probably lasted the last 500 years but who cares?

I stirred slowly on my favourite couch and wriggled my barely opened eyelids to see...what was his name? Was it something like Vigori or Grigori—

" All hail to My Lord, for the love of the lord, please, wake up from your 784 years of nap! " bellowing loud with no breath, he knocked my head with a huge plate to wake me up as usual.

" What's the year now? " I yawned, rubbing the spot where he had hit me with the plate and looked around to see my chamber.

" It's 2096. "

" Okay, then why did you wake me up? "

" It's because My Lord, here, is assigned for a task from the Up above. "

Laughing at the sound of the once familiar name, I hit his side lazily while he squinted his eyes down at me as if I had dirtied his expensive suit.

" Eh, don't bluff, Grigori. We know the Up above has lost the contact to our Low below even before I was born. "

" My Lord, for the love of my God, I'm no Grigori he was your ex—nevermind, he died before a century anyway. I'm Traiton and it's not Low below anymore, My Lord. That's Cave of the Red. "

What the Low below is he telling me?

" Cave of the Red? What kind of name is that and who changed it? "

" It was you! "

" Did I? " I sure didn't expect him to say that it was me that named Low Below the Cave of the Red. When did I even do that? Was I drunk during the naming ceremony?

" I don't remember, maybe, I did. But low below suits us better. "

Traiton, as he said, shook his head. " I... Nevermind. Now, we have to be somewhere in an hour, My Lord. "

I shoot my eyes to the guy at the mention of the travel in an hour. Is he serious? I just woke up from a 700 or so year nap.

" In an hour? Are you kidding me? I've to sleep—

" No, you can't. You have to get out of this already dead couch and go on your own to the Up above. "

" No way in Low below I'm going there and alone. "

" Oh, no. No way in Low below My Lord's mother would let you leave alone, My Lord. I'm going with you. "

Last time I checked the orders were issued by me only. What happened in the last few decades?

Anyway, it seems like I've been robbed off of my power. Now, this new guy is almost dragging my stubborn butt away from my precious bed in a very tight robe which he had called it as suit or box or something.

Who wears these type of suffocating suitcases to look presentable? I'm handsome enough to look charming just in my nightwear but, seriously, this guy didn't believe me.

Rolling my eyes at the brightest star of Low Below, I winced quickly closing them soon when the brightness did nothing but increase pain in the back of my head.

" You see, My Lord, people has to come once in a while out of closed space to see around. " he grumbled walking a step beside me, his hands and eyes shuffling between some files and box like...electronic thing.

" I'm no ordinary people, Trader. I don't have to see around to rule places. "

He paused his steps and threw a look of disbelief at me almost as if he couldn't believe me.

" For the sake of the mother of my children, please, My Lord, I'm no trader nor seller. I'm Traiton, your only aid. "

" Geez, you could've just told me. " I scurried away from the furious guy to go fetch a horse when he quickly pushed me away towards the gate of my home.

" Don't ask me questions, right now. I'll let you know everything once we come back. Now, close your eyes and—

He didn't even complete it nor waited for me to close my eyes. That freaking guy just pushed me inside a cyclone, which I could recall to be one among the gateway of the once forgotten passageway between Up above and Terbumi from Low below, the sucked me in a breath.

Within one breath, I felt my legs touch the ground and not-so pleasant hue of orange casted around the perimeter burnt my vision for a while before it returned back to the vivid colours of white and blue.

" How long has it been since I visited? " I whispered, blinking away the slightest itch away from my lids before turning to look back at Traiton.

" The last time you were awake. "

I really had to turn back around to stare at him if it was true since it seemed like centuries had been rolled over the horizon when I was asleep.

Up above seemed nothing like how it used to before. The unpleasant orangue hue were everywhere like a parasite feeding of the light while the scarcity of the blue —which I remember once represented the amount of half-bloods— churned my heart for a second.

While my aid — I forgot his name again— made me walk another flight of stairs into a new superstructure —that I don't remember seeing 700 years ago— I lazily circled my eyes around to find something interesting.

For the next few minutes, nothing peaked my interest and when I was only getting frustrated at this name-forgotten-guy's silence he finally decided to stop before a door.

More than 10 men and women, who stocked around the door in the similar suffocating attire I was forced into, whisked their heads at us and inclined their heads, uniformly.

Some of them seemed a bit familiar, not exactly them but their races to be exact.

" My Lord, this way. " My aid pulled away my attention to the, now, opened door and followed after me with silent steps, his eyes constantly on watch.

And as if on cue, his hands immediately rose up high with a bolt of a dark yellowish energy which sent the small piercing shiny objects away before they could grace my shadow.

I raised my brows, impressed, while he continued to be on alert.

I see no danger here to be on guard. Besides...what was those shiny golden objects? Who even shot them at me?

" Seems like the Guardian of the Cave of the Red has finally woken up from his five minutes nap, my people. "

A voice, more like an annoying and very familiar one, called my attention to him.

" Amethyst, "

" Guardian of Up Above for you. "

Proudly as ever, I saw her standing on the stage which was, generally, for officials, I assume.

Amethyst and I don't go with each other often times and I remember being strangled and strangling her on the last day we met before my nap.

As tall as me, dressed in a dark blue suit with that annoying blond hair strapped in a handsome ponytail was the Amethyst Scarrow, I despise, for you.

Who in the Low below elected her to be the Guardian? Like what the damn was I doing when she stood for the post of Guardian? Why didn't anyone wake me up to ask my opinion?

Maybe, it's because she knew I'd not let her become one.

I took a nap for 700 years and they had almost toppled the everything upside down?!

" I highly object anyone that decided to give you such power, Amethyst, " I continued rolling my eyes despite her annoying grunts at the back of my head when I faced the other officials on the very same table to ask them.

" What were you guys thinking when you chose her among anyone in the world?! "

" The same thing when they   chose you as one, you disrespectful—

" Who are you calling disrespectful?! "

" You, of course. Who else is here?! " she screamed jumping down from the table, her eyes flashing a deep shade of purple that I've never seen before.

I could sense my aid tensing right beside me but before he could stop me, I was already summoning my war hammer that flew back into my hand from thin air, leaving out a puff of a teal-coloured smoke.

" I expect your attention, right now, Guardians. "

I grunted feeling my hands unable to disobey the respect-command from the only official that I respect in the council and saw Amethyst slowly retreating from the combat stance, her beautiful face adorned with a dangerous fury.

" Sit down. " said our mother Leah—

Oh, I don't think I ever mentioned it. I and Amethyst are half-siblings.

Let's just say I don't appreciate it very much even though I love my step father too much for my own mother's liking but who cares anyway?

" We have gathered here for a quest. " Mother said spreading a small amount of her energy that, in a blink, forced both of us on our respected seats which, thankfully, was on the opposite sides of each other.

And once we were settled far away from each other, mother continued.

" The reigns are collapsed. The once endangered passages are opened. "

" Which is also why I wanted to ask...how? "

My mother's eyes as how I remembered were always steady and a bright shade of blue but now that I'm seeing her after a lot of years, they had somehow turned darker and more tired.

" It started after you fell into the deep sleep. "

Wait. Is she accusing me for sleeping?

Since when was sleep considered a crime?!

" Since it's you that slept. " I heard T guy whispering behind my back to which I sent him an impossible look while from the side of my eye, I could see Amethyst's lips going into her iconic —but trust me— and very ugly smirk.

" Mysteries could be seen surfacing through the reigns and we've also found people from not our races and the one's we are familiar with. " Mother continued with a sigh, directing to one of the women among the officials, who then continued after her.

" We cannot get our hands on them since they surface mostly at dawns and sometimes at night and they are hardly seen when we use our energy to capture them. "

What are they trying to imply, right now?

" But General Matthew from Terbumi had reported that he had found the old passages in Terbumi and that he could lead us through it to find the origin of the matter. "

The woman nodded at mother and she, with a deep sigh, looked like she was about to hit the last blow.

" And now, we have selected two best warriors from both Up above and the Cave of the Red to go find the origin and a solution for the collapsing. "

With that said, her eyes drawned automatically towards me as she stalked towards my seat in hurried steps.

I widened my eyes and held the bars of my seat when as expected she grasped my hand so tight and...dragged me towards the opposite seat of mine.

Just like me, Amethyst had a look of horror for a beat of her heart and when mother grabbed her hands, both of us as in cue, forced ourselves away from our bearer.

" If I'm chosen from the Up above then no way in Low below, I'm going to let him tag along with me! " her eyes were sparkling purple almost as if ready to ignite me then and there if it wasn't for mother standing between us like a shield.

" Disrespect each other one more time, I'd have you both to kneel on the rooftop, tonight. " Mother growled startling the entire chamber.

Wait— What?!

Is she serious?! I'm 2650 years and how is she going to make me kneel like a child?

One stare from my mother said that she'd do it if opened my mouth to talk back. So, apparantly, we both had no choice but burn each other with...stares.

Now, I stood there on the left side of my mother, who held my half-sister on the other side and held her head high to look at the official's stage.

" I, Leah Daughtler, Elder Scholar of Up above send my first born, Arthur Sinclair, High Guardian of The Cave of the red and my second born, Amethyst Scarrow, High Guardian of Ub above to find the quest of the origin. "
