At the same time, the community understood that it was strictly forbidden to defecate in the upper reaches of the river, it was feared that sewage would flow towards the king. However, Abu Nawas did not worry about the habit. Casually, Abu Nawas defecated upriver where the king was also defecating. Abu Nawas manure finally flowed downstream and hit the king. The king was shocked absurdly, and furious.
The king then asked the soldiers to go along the river and catch the defecate in front. Did not take long, the soldiers finally arrested Abu Nawas who was casually defecating. The soldier then brought Abu Nawas to the king.
For his actions, Abu Nawas threatened with punishment. But Abu Nawas protested to the king why he had to be arrested. The king finally replied, Abu Nawas was considered to have insulted the king for defecating in front of the king.
"You don't have manners to defecate in front of me until your poop hits me," the king snapped.
"The king seems to misunderstand me," Abu Nawas answered.
"There is no need for many reasons, you must be punished," the king growled.
"I am doing this (defecating upstream) so that I can respect you," answered Abu Nawas.
Hearing Abu Nawas's reasons, Harun Al-Rasyid was stunned. "Why do you defecate like that in a way that respects me," the king asked.
"Look, all this time if the king is traveling with the people or with the soldiers, none of them dares go ahead of the king's way. Likewise with me, when I join the king's entourage, the position when walking does not dare to precede the King. That I do because I maintain manners and courtesy to the King, "said Abu Nawas.
"Yes, good, but what does that have to do with what you're doing right now?" asked the king.
"Look, king, I respect you not half measures. When I defecated, I chose in the upper reaches of the river so that my poop was disrespectful to the poop of the king because I dared to walk before the poop of the king. "explained Abu Nawas.
Hearing the explanation of Abu Nawas, the king smiled
