1241 of the Elven Calendar.

Luster City, Moldo Empire.

After meeting the Emperor Moldo VI on 1161, Marcus Ash was appointed as head director of the Luster Academy of Magic located at Luster City. It is now eighty years since he came to the Andalus continent.

During this time when he's the instructor at Luster, The Council of Mages granted him once again the title Grand Magus but Marcus rejected it. Saying that he's not interested anymore in any titles. He will remain as Full Magus and no more.

His fellow mages, Lander and Kristina were appointed as instructors at the Military School of Moldo situated near the capital Moldo City. Carl the vampire mage was appointed diplomat and later joined the Moldo Imperial Mages.

A year before Emperor Moldo VI's end of reign on 1196, both Kristina and Lander achieved their rank as Full Magus. Marcus attended their recognition. After Moldo VI's death, Lander returned to his homeland in Paradise Island. He said he'll be founding a school there.

Kristina traveled to the Elvenar Continent after a disagreement with the new reigning Emperor Moldo the Seventh. He never heard of her eversince.

The vampire mage Cecil Carl von Vincent III achieved his title Grand Magus after the coronation of Emperor Moldo the Seventh.

After that, he became the head of the Imperial Mages. Rumors say that he's now so powerful that nobles were afraid of him, lest they make an enemy of him.

Marcus on the other hand stayed as low-key as possible. Researched furthermore about barrier magic while teaching at the academy.

Though once, when Moldo the Seventh came to the academy to study, he became the tutor.

In his academic days, Marcus saw Moldo the Seventh that he has no talent in magic. His null magic is even low. But despite that, he became an accomplished swordsman.

The long line of Moldo ancestry were not magically endowed. They can only use two kinds of magic at most. Moldo the IV can cast a tier three fire magic and the signature magic of the Moldo's, Null magic.

Moldo the Sixth is an expert in physical enhancement(thats why he reigned the longest). He lived longer than a normal human because of it. Before He died, he instructed Marcus to study Null magic and learn the secrets.

Null magic is one of the most mysterious magic. What it does is, it suppresses or stops any magical action or phenomena.

Similar to a disruptor or interference. Once it was cast by the caster, most low tier magic will be suppressed.

Legends say that it was the Great Creator Raven who taught the ancestors of Moldo how to use it. But as time passes by, even the Moldo offsprings does not know how it works. Therefore, failing to teach it to others. And very few people saw how null magic works.

Marcus saw one event once, when a magical accident happened during a meeting of the coalition at Ravenal.

It was Emperor Moldo the Fourth he stopped the accident. But even the Emperor himself did not know how he did it. And even the mages that are present cannot explain it. Although Marcus at that time has an idea, he did not bother to study it more at that time because he was more interested in barrier magic.

But now that he was granted permission by the late Emperor, Marcus liked the idea of researching for it. Now that he has funding and the facility to do so, he's more that happy enough to do it. After all, Marcus loves to study different kinds of magic.

1246 of the Elven Calendar, Second month of the year.

Knock, knock!

"Sir, you have a visitor." it's one of his apprentice named Jain.

"Who is it?" Marcus lifted his head, he's been reading. It's already five in the afternoon.

"She said she bore news, about Wilhelmina Astore. She wants to give you a document, I think it's a letter Sir."

"Let her in."

Seconds later, Jain brought the messenger.

It's a human girl in her late 20's, wearing a hood. Probably as a disguise to hide his face.

After Jain left the room, Marcus asked the woman.

"What can I do for you?"

"Lord Mage Sir, I am Attina the head maid and most trusted by the Fourth Royal Consort Wilhelmina Astore. Her highness pleads for your help."

"She said I must give you this. Please read it immediately before me. She insists that I should not leave before I hear your answer." She handed her a tube, that contains a letter and sealed by a wax. An emblem was impressed on it. Marcus recognized it right away. It was the seal of the Astore household.

Wilhelmina Astore, is the eldest daughter of Martin Astore.

The Astore estate is on the east of Luster City. Martin Astore and Marcus knows each other very well because occasionally, Marcus will go to the Astore countryside to relax and gather some materials for his experiments. And Martin always invites Marcus to his mansion where we would stay for the duration of his trip.

You can say they have become good friends.

He became friends with her child Wilhelmina. Telling her of stories and tales. Marcus saw her become a fine lass. And when she turned twenty, she was taken to the castle to become the Fourth Royal Consort. In simpler terms, a concubine.

Moldo the Seventh has other three wives, but no one has ever borne him a son.

Marcus broke the seal and started reading.

"Sir Lord Magus Marcus Ash, I am pleading for your help to help my son. Last month I delivered a healthy baby boy. I hope that His Majesty the Emperor will name him for me. I am so happy I gave Him an Heir to the throne. But something happened inside the Palace. A week after I delivered my baby, and before I can bring the good news to Him. Another baby boy was delivered by the Third Consort Shalina Arham. My boy was the firstborn, but due to the slow travel of news from Astore to the castle, it never reached his Highness ears. The Emperor has been bedridden and has been sick already for many months. The head Imperial Minister Carl Von Vincent III has been managing the affairs of the kingdom since then. The Head Minister said I should bring the Baby to him and challenge for His right to the throne. But according to my sources around the castle, there is a rumor that the Head Minister wants us silenced. I do not know his true motives why He wants us dead. Another rumor was that the Third Consort and the Head Minister had an affair. And that the Third Consort's son was fathered none other by the Head Minister himself and not the Emperor. I am begging you please Lord Magus, I do not know where to go, to save my son. Majority of the nobles now, has been influenced by the Head Minister.

Please, help us."

"What is your reply Sir Lord Magus?" Attina asked with pleading eyes.

Marcus sighed again.

"Can you ride a horse?"
