Always better with a plus one - me, you, and our baby

Summary:

“No, I’m fine. I’m really fine. I can do this, I’ve handled loads of pregnant omegas, I’ve helped them give birth. What’s the difference with my own husband?”

Jungkook giggles as he listens to Taehyung mumbles words. He holds his hyung’s hand that is resting on his belly and releases a calming pheromone, “Baby, you’re not allowed to help me give birth, right? You’re not my doctor right now, you’re my husband.”

Taehyung seems to calm down and finally realizes– again– what’s happening right now. He looks at Jungkook’s eyes directly before he looks down at his popping belly, “Yeah… I’m your husband. And I’m going to be a dad.”

The day that they’ve been waiting for has come without them really realizing it.

It is one normal day for both of them. Taehyung’s doing the laundry while Jungkook’s walking the house and just pacing back and forth, holding his back and belly, waiting for his husband to finish doing the chore so they can finally cuddle and watch movies.

It is normal, not until Jungkook feels a contraction on his stomach. He stops midway in their living room and frowns, thinking that he’s just imagining it. Not until he feels it again, but this time, more painful. He gasps and automatically holds his due belly bump. He calms himself down when he feels the trickling liquid on his thighs, going down to his legs until he can feel it all over their carpeted floor.

Jungkook closes his eyes and breathes through his mouth, it’s not really that painful yet, so he doesn’t have the need to panic. He calmly collects himself and carefully steps out the wet patch that pools on his swollen feet.

He’s actually due this week but guess his baby girl wants to finally come out earlier than they expect it. It’s three days ‘til his due but his husband says that it’s normal to give birth before and after the due date, that’s why they've been ready for this to happen no matter what the time comes.

Jungkook slowly walks towards the back of their house where Taehyung’s doing the laundry. He’s holding his big belly and is padding like a penguin with how heavy his body feels. Ever since he started his last trimester, his body has grown plumper and bigger, he has gained so much weight, but his hyungie reassures him that it’s fine and he’s gaining just right for him and the baby.

When he reaches the backdoor, the door is wide open which he sees his man instantly. His husband is busy hanging their clothes. He told him earlier to just bring it to the laundry, but he insisted on washing it by himself, saying that he wants to do something and move his limbs. Ever since he stopped going to work because of maternal leave, he never really let Jungkook do any chores.

“Babe,” he calls.

Taehyung looks back at him and smiles, “Hey. I told you to wait for me in the living room. I’m almost done here.”

“My water broke,” Jungkook casually says. Eyes watching Taehyung's smiling face turn into something that makes him laugh so hard that his belly contracts again. “Taehyung! I said my damn water broke!” He exclaims, stopping himself from laughing because he really has this surprise funny face.

The older eyes are so wide, his jaw is gaping and the clothes that he’s about to hang earlier are now on the floor. Jungkook dramatically sighs and shakes his head. He expected this scenario already. No matter how many times the alpha has assured him that he will never malfunction or panic when this time comes, Jungkook never really believe him.

Jungkook sighs once again and turns his back to Taehyung. His husband will come around, maybe in three seconds or three steps. Jungkook counts in his head and smiles when before his third step, he hears Taehyung’s loud shrill and the next thing he knows is the older is carefully tending and helping him walk already.

“I thought you'd take too long to recover,”

“No, I’m fine. I’m really fine. I can do this, I’ve handled loads of pregnant omegas, I’ve helped them give birth. What’s the difference with my own husband?”

Jungkook giggles as he listens to his lover mumbles words.

And I’m going to be a dad.” He whispers. “Wait here, bun. I'll just get your things.”

Jungkook doesn't answer and just nods his head. Every minute that passes feels like the pain and contractions level up.

He's left alone in the living room while Taehyung rushes up to their bedroom where their baby's bag and his things are all prepared and just waiting to be used. They're prepared everything that is needed weeks prior to his due so that it will be easy for them to move and go to the hospital if ever.

He doesn't sit and just rests his hand on the couch to support himself while the other hand goes straight to his belly where he tries to feel if his baby is moving. There are many instances where they literally feel their baby move inside Jungkook's body for the past few weeks. Their baby is so active, especially when he hears Jungkook's and Taehyung's voices together.

He's about to give birth now but it still amazes him that there's literally a human inside his body and he can't wait to finally see her. Yes, their baby is a girl.

“Love, how's the pain?”

Jungkook looks up and sees Taehyung walking towards him. Both of his hyung's hands are holding the baby and Jungkook's things. He looks calm and collected, but the younger can see how pale his face and lips are which just makes him smile.

“Bearable. Seven out of ten.” He answers, hands itching to hold his husband, so he did, when Taehyung's finally in front of him. Both of them release calming pheromones and Jungkook literally sags in his husband's hold. “Please bring your clothes, I want to make a nest later when we're in the hospital. Is it okay?” He asks, vision blurring as he buries his nose on Taehyung's scent gland.

He just wants to be with his alpha. Especially in his most vulnerable state. His mind just screams alphaalphaalpha, but he knows that he should get a grip because he literally has a baby on the way.

“Of course. Let's go in our car and I'll get my clothes. Do you want me to carry you?”

Jungkook doesn't answer and just keeps on inhaling Taehyung's scent. Thankfully, he also doesn't say anything and just released more of his scent. His hyung's hands massaging his hips and waist that helps so much with the nonstop pain and contractions that he's currently feeling.

After basking in his husband's scent, Jungkook's the one who pulls himself away. Taehyung asks him again if he's ready to go and when he nods, the man guides him gently and ushers him towards their awaiting car.

It doesn't take too long before they reach the hospital. There's no rush, no panic, or anything. Both of them know what they're doing, perks of having an ob-gyne husband who, despite being a first-time dad, is doing it flawlessly like he's just really meant to be a dad.

The whole situation is agonizingly slow but at the same time it passes like a blur. One moment he’s shouting Taehyung’s name and how he doesn’t want to fuck him anymore while squeezing the life out of his husband’s hands then the next is just him peacefully looking and staring at his baby, in flesh, finally.

Jungkook still can’t process the fact that she’s really here. Their baby. The one who they’ve been waiting for nine months. He still also can’t comprehend how… it’s only been minutes since he held his baby, but he feels like he’s ready to give her the world. He can do everything just so he can protect her. His omega instinct wants nothing but to care, to love, to protect.

He doesn’t really believe in love at first sight, but seeing his baby for the first time makes him feel an immense amount of love he can’t think that he’s capable of feeling.

Jungkook releases a calming pheromone when he feels his baby is about to cry. He knows an infant can’t really distinguish scents or possess any wolf instinct not until they present but he still wants to engulf her with his scent.

“Love? Can I come in?”

Jungkook looks up and sees his husband peaking on the slightly open door. Omegas are known to be overly protective especially when they’ve just given birth, they get upset easily or really get so angry when someone holds their pup. So, he understands why Taehyung’s being careful.

But Taehyung’s different, he’s his husband and he wants nothing but to be with him right now, with their pup.

“Come,” he whispers, voice hoarse because of how hard he strained it earlier. “Please, alpha.”

He doesn’t need to say anything more for his hyung to walk forward. He can smell how excited, nervous, and happy his alpha is, and Jungkook can’t help but tear up when Taehyung hovers over them and carefully sits on the hospital bed, facing them.

Taehyung’s eyes are focused intently on the tiny bundle that Jungkook’s hugging. The omega gently fixes his hold to let his alpha see their baby clearly. “Do you want to hold?” He asks, voice so low so they won’t disturb the sleeping baby.

The older finally looks up at him, eyes questioning, “She’s so tiny.”

Jungkook wants to laugh. Taehyung looks like he hasn’t held hundreds of babies all of his career life. But he understands, it’s totally different when it’s your own baby you are talking about. He holds Taehyung’s hand and pulls him towards their pup, he puts it atop of the blanket that’s covering their baby and smiles at his lover who’s tearing up already.

“It’s fine. You can do it.”

When he successfully transfers their baby on Taehyung’s arm, Jungkook can’t stop the tears that roll down on his cheeks. Everything is so overwhelming but satisfying at the same time. Watching his hyung gently rock his body sideways, eyes full of love as he stares at their baby, is the most perfect and probably will be his favorite view from this day on.

And Jungkook has never been more right.

Every day since he gave birth, waking up and seeing Taehyung carrying their daughter is his most favorite view throughout his day. It keeps him going, literally his energy booster.

Being a first-time parent isn’t easy. There’s a lot of adjustments, a lot of decision making and a lot of emotions getting in their way that sometimes, it is the reason and the start of some silly banter and quarrels– which of course is normal. They’re both stressed and tired but still very much happy at the end of the day. They never really let those fights get in their way, thankfully, they have always been good at communicating, which heightens everyday as day passes by.

It has only been almost two months since he gave birth, since they held their baby, but it feels so long already. Time really isn’t real when you’re happy and enjoying every minute of it.

The sun hits Taehyung’s face perfectly as he stands on their balcony, swaying and rocking his body as he listens to the gentle tune that’s playing in the background. Jungkook sighs and falls in love even more. God, his husband is just so handsome, especially now that he’s smiling fondly at their daughter who’s sleeping peacefully in his arms.

Taehyung doesn’t even notice that Jungkook’s walking towards him already. The omega sneakily snakes his arms on his husband’s waist and hums when he rests his chin on Taehyung’s shoulder.

“Good morning, my babies.” Jungkook whispers, tiptoeing to kiss Taehyung’s cheeks. “How long have you been up?” He asks, moving away from his husband and stepping in front of him just so he can see Ri Nari.

Ri Nari, a combination of two flowers that means a deeper love and a new beginning.

Kim-Jeon Ri Nari.

“Nari, my love, good morning.” He mumbles, voice low and gentle. He caresses his daughter’s face with his fingers and beams so wide when he sees her making a move to maybe feel Jungkook’s warmth even more. “You’re so beautiful.”

Jungkook's heart soars when Nari makes a sound, looking like he’s acknowledging what he just said. He looks up at Taehyung who’s staring at him already. He feels himself heating up with that intense gaze, but he just chooses to just roll his eyes and stand up properly to face Taehyung.

“Love, it’s your first day again, right? It’s seven am already, why aren’t you getting prepared?” Jungkook asks.

Taehyung is going back to work now after requesting three months leave. He doesn’t even know how it is possible but it’s Taehyung we’re talking about. He always makes the impossible possible. But it’s not actually a straight leave, the hospital still calls him when needed and he goes there from time to time.

“It’s fine, it’s still too early.”

“No, give Nari to mee. I’ll just feed her, and I’ll prepare your breakfast later.”

“Darling, I can prepare breakfast by myself. Just feed Nari and sleep after. It’s still too early for you to be this up, how late did you stay up last night?”

Jungkook looks away and prepares his arms so Taehyung can properly transfer Nari onto his own, “I don’t know, maybe 2am. Nari’s been crying nonstop.” He answers, eyes fixating on their baby just so he won’t meet Taehyung’s eyes.

“What? Why didn't I hear it?”

“I brought her to the first floor so that you can sleep properly.” Jungkook explains. “You haven’t slept really well for the past few weeks, you also need to take care of yourself especially now that you’ll be coming back to your work.”

“I think I need another month off.” he sighs.

He gapes and if not just because of Nari, he probably already smacks Taehyung’s head or chest, “Love! No, that’s too much already. I know you missed surgeries and hospital stuff. I know as well that you’re worried but you know I can do it, right? And Mom’s coming here later so I have another help.”

“I just don’t want you to have a hard time, alone.”

“As I said, Mom’s going to be here later. I won’t be alone.” He reassures and walks back inside their bedroom where he will feed Nari.

After a lot of coaxing, he finally agrees and starts preparing for work. He still hesitates every time his eyes land on his omega and pup but one stern look from Jungkook keeps him from moving.

While Taehyung’s in the bathroom, he goes on their first floor and puts Nari down on the crib that’s in their living room. When he sees that his baby is sleeping peacefully, he walks towards their kitchen to prepare Taehyung lunch box and their breakfast. He missed doing this, preparing Taehyung’s lunch or just basically serving him (even though the alpha doesn’t want to phrase it that way), is one of Jungkook’s most favorite things to do.

He hasn’t done this for the past few months because it’s always the alpha who will prepare their food and he doesn’t even go to hospital that much anymore so there’s really no food to prepare.

He hears Taehyung coming down exactly after he finishes preparing their food. He waits until his hyung comes inside their kitchen and smiles when Taehyung gasps when he sees what Jungkook has prepared.

“Let’s eat.”

“Ah, I missed you cooking. Finally.”

Jungkook pouts. He feels like he’s been neglecting his husband. If you will really think about it, they really never had a proper meal together since he gave birth. He knows Taehyung understands it and he’s truly thankful because of that but he still can’t help but think that he has been really neglecting his husband because all his attention is towards their baby.

“I feel like you’re thinking something. I can smell you.”

Jungkook’s thoughts stop abruptly, and he smiles sheepishly at Taehyung, “It’s nothing, don’t worry about me.”

Taehyung doesn’t say anything but just looks pointedly at Jungkook. When he doesn’t answer, Taehyung just nods and let him be, he knows his husband knows that he’ll voice it out when he’s ready and comfortable.

“I’ll go home early; I only have a schedule ‘till 2pm. Do you want me to buy you something on the way home?” He asks, clearly changing the subject.

Jungkook thinks. He’s been planning to have their little dinner outside for a while now. He just wants to fulfil his silly little dream of a family dinner. Nari’s been going out lately but she has never been in a mall or any public places that have a lot of people.

“Can we have dinner in our favorite restaurant?”

“Oh,” Taehyung’s visibly surprised. “Yeah? Later? With Nari?”

“Of course. Just the three of us. Mom has something to do later with dad so she’ll go home and will probably not be here until 1pm.”

“Okay. I’ll make a reservation. I’ll just fetch you later, yeah?” Excited.

Jungkook smiles, “Yeah. Thank you, hyungie. I love you.”

“I love you more. Please call me from time to time, I’ll try to respond when I have breaks.”

“Okay. Now, go. You’re late.”

Taehyung kisses Nari goodbye first who’s sleeping peacefully in her crib.

Jungkook walks with Taehyung and stops when they are both standing face to face on their doorway. Before Jungkook can even utter a word, he’s pulled by Taehyung on his nape and next thing he knows is they are sharing a passionate kiss. He physically melts and if not by Taehyung’s hand that is resting on Jungkook’s waist, he's now on the floor.

It’s been so long since they shared a passionate kiss like this. Nothing really happens between the two of them since he gave birth. He’s still healing and they’re both busy and too inclined to Nari to even think about themselves.

Taehyung kisses his lips and when he’s done, he straight up leave kisses all over the younger’s face which makes them both giggle.

“I love you and Nari. Call me, okay?”

Jungkook nods and preens when Taehyung kisses him again, “Take care.” He whispers through their almost touching lips and basks on their shared warmth together for a second before finally pushing Taehyung away. “Love you.”

He watches Taehyung hesitantly walk towards his car. He looks like he’s contemplating on leaving Jungkook. It’s the first time again he’ll be away with his alpha, and even if it's just a few hours, his omega feels so restless already. However, he doesn’t let it out. Taehyung’s going to be worried if he ever smells even the slightest discomfort and stress in his scent.

But when his hyung is finally out of his sight, that’s when Jungkook releases his scent and sags on the door. He wants to cry. He wants Taehyung. They’ve been just away for a minute, but he feels anxious and uneasy already, he feels like he can’t do this without Taehyung.

He needs Taehyung.

His thoughts stop when he hears a cry. He automatically stands up straight and approaches his crying baby. He hovers over her and picks her up, shushing him through scenting and humming some tune he knows she likes listening to and calms her down.

Jungkook straight up forgot about his worry as the day passes by and as the time, he’s with his baby. His mind is easily occupied with taking care and tending his daughter.

His mother comes to their house an hour later and helps him in taking care of Nari. Jungkook finally has time to clean their whole house and prepare lunch for him and his mother. He also has the time to check his email and talk to his managers who’s currently making his business thrive now that he’s busy being a parent.

He’ll come by maybe next week at his store and is thinking of fully coming back on Nari’s third month. He’s planning on expanding his business more so he needs to be hands on again. No matter how much he hates thinking of leaving Nari, they’ve got bills to pay and he and Taehyung already talk about what will be their system when it comes to Nari’s future savings.

Taehyung can actually provide them well. Jungkook doesn’t even need to work because Taehyung’s really that well off. But Jungkook doesn’t want that, and Taehyung doesn't also think of caging Jungkook in a box. Taehyung never even suggested it because he knows how Jungkook loves his flower business.

“I’m sorry Kookie, I still want to stay but I really have important things to attend to with your father.” Jungkook's mom explains.

He shakes his head, “Mom, it’s fine. You’ve helped me enough. And Taehyung’s coming home in an hour, please don’t worry too much.”

“I will always worry because you’ll always be my baby, who has his own baby as well. God, where did all the time go?”

Jungkook laughs when his mom dramatically sighs. His mom can be dramatic sometimes, that’s why both her and Taehyung get along really well.

Jungkook’s left alone with Nari inside their home. He exhales loudly and looks at his daughter who’s sleeping, again, on her crib. Nari, thankfully, hasn’t really been a handful. She’s easy to take care of, it’s just really hard because it’s their first time being a parent. But that hardship isn’t really a reason for them to slack off in taking care of their baby. Nari only deserves the best.

Taehyung comes home at the exact time he has said earlier. Both him and Nari are now sitting on the sofa while they’re waiting for Jungkook to finish dressing up so that they can finally go to the mall and have their family date. Taehyung’s the first one to change his shirt so he could finally carry Nari after a long hour of being away with her.

When Jungkook’s done, he comes down while still fixing his earrings. He can feel Taehyung’s gaze on him as he walks in their house, checking if he has forgotten any of Nari’s things that’s essential to bring. He blushes when their eyes meet. He winks at him which makes him blush deeper.

“Stop it,” he whines and childishly stomps his feet.

Taehyung laughs and shakes his head, “You’re so beautiful.” He says, playfully growling which also made Jungkook laugh. “Come here, I want to scent you.”

“I literally have your mark.”

“And?”

Jungkook rolls his eyes jokingly but still makes his way towards Taehyung who has a sleeping Nari in his arms. On any given day, he’ll plop himself atop of his husband’s lap, but he’ll just do it next time when they are alone.

Taehyung scents him longer than he expected. He hears himself whine and just bare his neck more. Purring and automatically closing his eyes. It has been really long since they’ve done the deed, maybe that’s why it’s so easy to rile Jungkook up and make him submit. But before he slips because of how good and content he is being surrounded by Taehyung’s scent, he pulls himself away.

“Nope. We’re going to have dinner.” He says, eyes unfocused and heart beating louder than usual. “Nope.”

He hears Taehyung laugh, which makes him pull and calm himself down. He glares at his husband and pinch his biceps, “I hate you.”

“Whatever you say, princess.”

They safely arrive at the mall. He’s walking side by side with Taehyung who’s still the one carrying their baby, he’s also the one who has Nari’s bag. He told him earlier that he’ll bring the bag, but Taehyung insists on carrying and doing everything because according to him, Jungkook’s tired and needs to rest especially because he's been taking care of their baby for the whole day.

“We still have two hours until our reservation, do you want to go shopping first?”

Jungkook nods excitedly. He wants to buy new clothes for Nari, she’s been growing up really fast and maybe he just wants to indulge himself in buying cute baby clothes that he could match.

They go into one of the babies stores they've stumbled upon while walking. Jungkook remembers buying here when he’s still pregnant, and he can’t help but feel giddy as he thinks about how he’s buying now for his two-month-old daughter.

He excitedly picks everything he finds cute. And he can’t help but squeal every time he places it on Nari’s front, looking if it suits his baby girl. Taehyung’s just watching him, a big smile plastered on his face with how cute Jungkook is.

After buying Nari’s clothes and shoes, they still have an hour so they both decide to go shopping for themselves. Jungkook accompanied Taehyung first to the department store. He’s not the one who’s holding Nari.

Taehyung’s doing some fashion show in front of him that’s making him giggle. It’s insane how his husband is trying to be funny, but Jungkook finds him hot, nonetheless. Being funny makes him even hotter. When Taehyung’s done picking some formal clothes for his work, he left Jungkook in one of the benches there so he can try it on and look if it fits and suits him well.

Jungkook’s left alone with Nari, who’s now awake. But it seems like the sudden disappearance of his dad in her line of sight makes him upset that’s why second later, Nari cries. He tries to shush him down and stands up, he lulls him to calm down by dancing and stepping side by side, but the cries just intensify.

He looks around and sweats when he sees some eyes looking at him. He wants to shout for his alpha but that will be some crazy act. Damn.

“Baby, my baby, it’s fine. Appa will be back,” he whispers, but that seems to aggravate his baby even more. So maybe, Taehyung’s disappearance isn’t the reason why she’s crying.

Jungkook thinks, damn, Nari’s last meal is lunch, she may be hungry now. Without thinking anything other than feeding his daughter, Jungkook sits and pulls the cover he prepared earlier thinking that this might happen.

He drapes it on him and Nari before he unbuttons his shirt and let his tit out. Well, that seems to calm down his daughter, who’s now sucking his tit hungrily. He should’ve known. Her last milk is lunch, and it has been two hours already.

Jungkook notes it to himself and shifts on his seat to make himself comfortable. He’s carefully moving so his cover will not fall out, not really minding everyone. Thankfully, he’s on the corner where there’s not many people in his proximity–

“What are you doing?”

Jungkook looks up and sees an unknown woman who’s meter away from him. She’s looking like she’s about to throw up or maybe that’s just her natural face.

“What?” He asks.

“I ask you what you are doing?”

“I’m feeding my baby,” Jungkook answers casually, because isn’t it obvious?

“In public? Are you insane?”

Jungkook frowns. “What’s wrong with it?” He asks, because as far as he’s concerned, there’s nothing wrong with what he’s doing.

“There’s a lot of people in here that’s not comfortable seeing an omega breastfeeding! That’s public indecency. Are you trying to attract alphas attention?”

What the fuck is this woman talking about. As long as he knows, breastfeeding in public isn’t taboo. The world has long come with the terms of it. It’s literally easy to spot omegas breastfeeding their baby out in public. So, this, whatever this woman is saying, is all nonsense and probably being just a Karen.

If it’s not really allowed, then the store staff should’ve reprimanded him earlier but no, it’s this woman who walks up to him.

“I’m not trying to attract anyone. It’s you who’s attracting everyone’s attention by screaming nonsense things. Go away.”

“No, I’m calling the security! You need to get out, both you and your baby.”

Okay. Jungkook has had enough. He’s about to stand up when Taehyung appears in front of him and blocks his sight. He instantly smells how upset his alpha is and he wants to laugh when he sees the woman backing away slightly, eyes wide and obviously scared.

“What the fuck are you doing to my family?” Taehyung questions, his voice is lace with anger and he can smell it no matter how calm his husband may look.

“Family? That– that boy is your mate?”

“Yeah, and he has a name.” Taehyung steps forward. Obviously just doing that to scare the woman away. “That boy is feeding our child; do you have a problem with that?”

The woman stutters, their lips are moving and looks like they want to say something, but Taehyung’s scent must have been so heavy that all they do is run away.

Jungkook wants to laugh but he’s still being careful not to move and scare his baby, so he just beams widely when Taehyung looks back at him. His husband is instantly all over Jungkook, checking and asking if they’re okay.

“I’m fine, I have a big alpha to protect me.”

“I didn’t do shit. The woman has been scared already because of you before I even arrived.”

Jungkook just giggles which makes Taehyung shake his head.

They’ve gone through Jungkook’s favorite shop so he can buy clothes that he can pair with his daughter and after that, they go straight to the restaurant where they will be eating their dinner.

As he stares at Taehyung who’s sitting in front of him and making their daughter laugh, Jungkook couldn't be more happy. He can stare at this scene forever.

He has a loving husband, beautiful daughter and a family he never knew will make him so happy. All of this may not be one of their plans, his pregnancy may surprise the both of them, but it still doesn’t change the fact that if none of those things has happened, he won’t be this happy right now. He won’t have this almost drunk and a fool-like smile with how big it stretches his lips. He even easily forgot what happened earlier in the department store because of this.

He can’t wait to have more dates like this with his little family, which he’s thinking of making it big. But he’ll talk about it to his husband next time, this time, he will just enjoy their company of three.

He doesn’t know how a having plus one in a relationship, especially in the tiny form and cute little bundle of joy, could make him feel like he has everything in this world. Which, he really has, he couldn’t ask for more.

He’s content with this. This, in his small family.

Him, Taehyung and Nari.
