Episode 2: A new journey

"Hurry up its getting late!" A worker shouted at Charles as he was mining.

Charles was a young hardworking man who worked as a miner and who would do anything to support his family but one thing that stood out to him most,

it was freedom...

"YES SIR!" Charles responded as he continued to mine.

Suddenly, his boss walked in into the gold mine and shouted: "People! We have a special guest coming to inspect us tomorrow. Please be at your best behaviour."

Charles was in a state of confusion as of who that person might be. In Charles's mind, he suspected that this special person would be firing some of his fellow colleague.

But nonetheless, the day still went on...

As the sun rises in the early morning, the first thing that popped into Charles's mind was the special someone who would be coming. He rushed to get ready and was excited when he left his house.

On the way, he heard a familar yet strange voice coming from afar.

A young man: "Charles long time no see, how have u been doing?"

Charles didn't recognise the man's face as he turned, simply asking: "Who are you again?"

"Its me, Vish!" Vish exclamied.

*Vish from Xheng Ching High? But thats impossible. Everyone from Xheng Ching High has died due the terrible incident 10 years ago...*

Memories from that incident came flood back through Charles's mind...

Vish: "Hello? You there?"

"O-oh Vish. I remember now. We studied in the same high school." Charles replied as he tried to erase all the memories he had but to no avail.

Despite having a conversation, Charles's attention was still elsewhere

Vish: "So, where are you going?"

Charles: "To work. How about you? What bring you to this area? Aren't you living in the West?"

Vish: "Same! But hold on my boss is calling me. I have actually found a new job and it pays decently, but anyways see you later."

As Vish left, memories of that incident affected Charles's feelings, making him forget about what he was actually excited for.

The incident

----- 10 years ago, a suddenly fire had broken out and no firefighter were present at the rescue. Countless students died and Carles was the only one to be seen coming out of the school. After, Xheng Ching High was never built again as it was suspected that there were consatnt terrorist attacks. -----

Upon arriving to work, Charles came to his senses and remembered why he was excited.

Today was a special day where all could report at the office

**Finally not in the mines* Charles thought as he let out a slight smile*.

The boss: "Attention! We have a new recruit joining us today. Please give him your atmost support. Remember, we need to have strong communication to be more productive."

Just then, a young man stepped into the office, waving at everyone.

"Hi my friends. I am Vish and i look forward to work with you guys."

"VISH?!?!" Charles exclaimed as he thought he finally could have someone to talk to during work hours.

Vish: "Charles? Is that you?"

Charles: "I didn't know that you new job would working here as a miner. Didn't you have a good GPA? Like a 4.0?"

Vish: "3.8 actually, but yes shocking to see me here ain't it?"

The boss: "Alright guys listen up! Our special guest has arrived. Now i want you all to treat Ms Lee with all respect.

**Ms lee? Who is that? It sounds very familiar yet vague.* Charles thought as he clapped his hands to welcome her*.

One of the colleagues, John: "MS ESTHER LEE?!?! ITS AN HONOUR TO MEET YOU IM PERSON."

Charles: "Esther? Who is that?"

Just then, a certain memory from 4 years ago came through his head...
