Chapter 4

‘Jinny sooooo, how was your date?’ Rachael was dancing around me, she seemed very excited for my answer. ‘Was it successful, has he fallen in love with you?’ She cocked her head sideways.

‘It was okay, we didn’t do much since he was moping about most of the time. I thought I was talking to a vegetable!’ I sighed.

‘Oh well you can’t give up, your experiment is very important! Try setting up another date on this Saturday!’

‘Alright but I think this time I’ll have more of a plan!’

‘You go girl!’ She pounded the air with her fist but hit something in return. We both looked up. Daniel!!!

Daniel is the school bully, well known for p*ssing the teachers off, and his short temper. He claims that he is very dangerous since he got suspended a few times and has made riots in school about homework and such, but I don’t ever remember him beating people up into shrimps like he likes to say.

Rachael immediately hid away from him to my side. Poor her, if I were in her shoes I’d probably sprint to the other side of the school by then.

‘How dare you punch me?!?’ He glowered at us, his face looked all distorted and weird when he got angry, veins would stick out. He looked like he came straight out of a horror movie.

‘I’m sorry we didn’t mean to please forgive us.’ I thought I was gonna p*ss my knickers I was so scared, somehow my voice kept some sort of composure.

‘Ha Sorry? I’ll need more than that!! Come here you little twigs I’ll snap you in half!!’ He was slamming his knuckle against his palm, damn I think I did p*ss my knickers!!!

We stepped back I ended up guarding Rachael who hovered behind me.

‘You ugly wrench think you are so strong and all huh?? Disgusting!!’

This time I was p*ssed! I was ready to cuss and throw him to another galaxy at this point! I stood my ground. I didn’t know hell what I was doing! I looked him dead in the eyes.

‘You huge punk! Scram before I knuckle you to this flippin’ ground and turn you into dust!!’ Sh*t what did I say. I was shocked, Daniel was shocked, Rachael was shocked! What the bloody hell?

‘You think a sissy like you could beat me?’ He was laughing, I am soooo dead.

‘Rachael run I - I’ve got this!’ I whispered to her but she stood her ground. Oh well nvm.

‘Err what I said just now- spare me I have a life I have a family please pity me and let us go.’ I was pathetic but since scaring him was no good this’ll have to do.

‘What are you doing Daniel? Are you scaring the pitious people?’ It was Brian he was laughing, UGH!! Brian patted Daniel on the shoulder with a smirk directed towards me Daniel didn’t do anything instead, they seemed to be close friends, huh?

‘Oh Brian there you are how was our date on Saturday it was very romantic wasn’t it, this time the dates on you!’ I smirked at him and then quickly tried dragging me and Rachael away but my arm was caught.

If Daniel respected Brian then he might respect Brian’s girlfriend!!

‘If you think using my position will save you, you are wrong!’ Brain seemed pleased with himself, UGH!!!

‘Daniel leave these girls alone they are worthless!’

I don’t know what came over me but I was angry, like fuming. I don’t know why, I don’t know how, but I wanted to beat c*ap out of Brian.

‘Jinny isn’t worthless, she’s my best friend, and she is confident enough to love herself. I think Jinny is amazing, you, Brian have no right to be near Jinny since she is too nice and amazing to be wasting her breath on you!’ Rachael looked freaked out, she was shaking like crazy.

We all looked at her, shocked, once the feeling came over me I smiled.

‘Why don’t you just marry her already would ya?’ Daniel was impatient, he really wanted to turn me into a pulp. Brian held him back and laughed, ‘ Just let them go Daniel there’s no use.’ Off they went leaving us alone.

I couldn’t help it, I hugged Rachael really tightly, ‘thank you.’

‘Class we have a new student today, her name is Maria Fexer and she’ll be joining our class today.’ The girl was so damn pretty, so it comes as no surprise that Brian and her are childhood friends....

She winked at Brian and he smiled in return. I was annoyed, ugh if this happens and becomes a thing whos to be my new target for my experiment?!? I looked down the column of seats and I saw Rachael’s face. She was probably thinking the same thing.

At lunch i and Rachael spies on Brian. Maria was handing him a lunch box. AND FEEDING HIM?!?!? The nerve!! I wanted to go and have a row at him but Rachael held me back, ‘wait your not together yet, you can’t cause a scene, it’ll do you no good.’

Of course she had a point. I looked at Brian again, and he stared back at me, oh god he found us. ‘Rachael we got busted.’ But as I turn round Rachael is nowhere to be seen. Where is she?

Brian was waving me over. Maria looked up and down at me, clearly unimpressed but smiled fakely, ‘Brian who’s this, a new friend?’

‘No just a stubborn classmate that is obsessed with me.’ He smiled cockily. Ugh damn you to oblivion!!!!

‘Oh what’s your name? Mines Mariana but you can call me Maria.’ She stuck out her hand, when I went to shake it her grip suddenly went firm and her eyes gave me a glare.

‘I’m Jinny nice to meet you, Brian why did you call me over then?’ I turn and look at Brian who is clearly laughing at us both.

‘Ahh just for fun!’ He smiled. Ughhhhh!!!!

‘Oh well then I better go, don’t want to make this lovey dovey scene too awkward.’ I’m about to walk away when Brian catches my hand and pulls me to sit on the ground again.

‘Have a taste of this food.’ I look at him, What on earth!? I taste the food but as soon as it reaches my mouth I can taste the spicy food burning my tongue. A fun fact about me, I hate spicy food.

I’m choking on the hotness of the taste and take out my water bottle to gulp the flavour down but nothing works.

Few minutes go by and my tongue just feels a pang of tingles. I glare at Brian who, obviously is enjoying my pain. Looking at Maria and I could see the jealousy seething out of her. What a scene!!

‘Jinny, there you are!!’ Rachael was suddenly approaching she held two ice creams in her hand both slightly melting in the heat. ‘I looked all over for you!!’

‘Why didn’t you tell me you were going anywhere?’

‘I thought I did. Oh well I found you now.’ She handed me my ice cream

Chocolate mint my favourite, I took a nice lick. Soo good!! Oh sh*t that sounds wrong!!! 😂

Both me and Rachael were about to leave when Brian, yet again pulled me down but this time took a large bite of my ice cream.

‘What the hell Brian!! You know that’s my favourite flavour!!! Are you trying to ruin me???’ I was mad, that was my ice cream.

‘I was just concerned that you’ll be far.’

‘And why are you concerned for an ugly person like me, not long ago you didn’t even want to look at me and even bullied me and now, your eating my bloody ice cream!!! You have crossed the line!!’ I grabbed some Tomato-flavoured crisps that were sitting in his lunch box and ate them.

‘Now were even!!’

‘My crisps!!! You are evil!!!’ He looked childish but he was obviously enjoying this whole flirtatious thing we had going on. I stuck my tongue out at him.

‘You deserve that!!’ And both me and Rachael left.

‘Ooooh, now that was obviously flirting, I think he maybe interested!!’

‘You think?’

‘Sure the guy was totally hitting on you!!’

‘But I don’t think him just hitting on me is enough, he has to love me!!’

‘I know I know, but don’t expect such a strong response from him, he’s still a player I doubt he has ever felt such a thing like love.’ I nodded definitely not in the sense of romance but family love?
