You are now a young lady in ancient China, you are 12 years old and your life is difficult. You're expected to work hard and take care of your mother and father who are getting older. Your brothers and sisters are expected to find work as well but are not subject to the same expectations as you. Your days are filled with hard work and you know it will only get harder when you marry and have your own children. This is the way things are and no one complains too loudly because everyone knows life isn't easy, especially for women.

The days in the village are filled with chores and there is never enough time for you to think about anything other than what needs to be done. You wake up early to help your mother with the cooking and the laundry and then go out into the fields to tend to the vegetable patch or harvest the crops. In the evenings you go back out into the field to watch over the animals while they graze or tend to the garden. The chores never stop and you're always tired at the end of the day but you never complain because it's just the way things are - life can be difficult.
