Miyono’s eyes darkened. "I can kill Shiyo easily now. The Yousuke family isn’t powerful enough to protect him anymore."

Kusaki stared at her, stunned. "Wait... You’re kidding, right?"

Miyono’s expression didn’t waver.

Chapter 4: The Attempt, The Save

“I’ve planned it all out. I’ll do it tonight.”

“Look, I get it—you’re, like, really obsessed—but that doesn’t give you an excuse to kill someone!”

“Obsessed?”

“Uh…” Kusaki hesitated. “I mean... it’s just, maybe you’re kind of... a simp?”

Miyono’s eyes narrowed. “Is that what you think of me?”

“Look, simping isn’t bad!” Kusaki raised his hands defensively. “I’m sorry, okay?”

Miyono tilted her head. “Maybe I should practice my knife skills on you first.”

“NOOO! I still have a lot to live for!”

“Enough. I don’t care what you think.” Her voice dropped. “Just stay out of my way.”

“Okay, okay! Just... don’t get yourself into trouble. I’ll help you—but only if it doesn’t involve anything illegal.”

Miyono’s expression softened slightly. “Thanks.”

That Night,

(I told Shiyo I had something important to discuss.)

(He refused at first, but agreed once I mentioned Yomi.)

(We’re meeting in a quiet alley.)

(After I kill him, I’ll take his body to the forest and burn it.)

(I’m just a student—nobody will suspect me.)

(But the future... can’t always be predicted.)

Miyono’s grip tightened around the knife in her pocket.

Shiyo’s footsteps echoed as he entered the alley.

“Are you the one who called me?”

“Yes.”

Miyono’s gaze was cold. “Why are you always staring at Yomi?”

Shiyo blinked, confused. “Uh... because she’s cute?”

“There are plenty of other girls. Why her?”

“I don’t see why that’s a problem.”

“She doesn’t belong to you.”

Shiyo scoffed. “And who are you to say that? Yomi doesn’t belong to anyone!”

“This conversation isn’t going anywhere,” Shiyo muttered, turning to leave. “I’m out.”

Miyono’s eyes darkened.

The moment he turned his back—

“UGH!”

Miyono lunged with the knife, but it struck the wall behind him, just missing his side.

“Are you insane?! You could’ve killed me!”

“I’m just making things right,” Miyono said flatly.

“Right?! What’s right about murder?!”

“Everyone has to die eventually,” Miyono whispered. “You’re just... dying a little earlier than most.”

Shiyo’s breath hitched. “W-why are you acting like this? You’re—this is... psychotic!”

He tried to run, but Miyono blocked him.

“It doesn’t matter what I am,” she said, her grip tightening on the knife. “As long as Yomi stays with me, nothing else matters.”

Just as she raised the knife again—

“Stop!”

“Yomi?!”

“Mureku-san?”

Yomi ran into the alley, throwing herself between Shiyo and Miyono, arms outstretched to shield him.

“Yono-chan, what are you doing?!”

“I was... I was just making things right,” Miyono stammered, her voice faltering.

“Killing isn’t right—no matter what!” Yomi cried.

“But—”

“You’re... scaring me, Yono-chan.”

(No...)

“I never thought you’d do something like this.”

(No!)

“You shouldn’t hurt people.”

“NO!”

Yomi flinched.

“Stop spouting nonsense!” Miyono shouted, her voice trembling with frustration.

“Yono...?”

“If I didn’t stop him, he would have—he would’ve—”

“Yono-chan, please... calm down!”

“He would’ve stolen you from me!”
