After he was done, he went out of his room. He couldn't tell whether he was supposed to go left or right. He chose to go to his right but after walking for 20 seconds he came to a dead end. He realized that he should have taken a left turn, so he returned.
He finally reached the stairs and when he looked down, he saw Elaine talking with two maids wearing uniforms different from what she was wearing. As he was walking down the stairs, Elaine noticed him.
"You're done, do you like your new clothes?"
"Yes I love them, they are warm and comfortable."
The boy answered with a gentle smile.
"They definitely look good on you."
"Thank you."
"Hey, you two. I would like to introduce this boy to you. He was brought to the mansion by our Lady. Please care for him as an honored guest of our Lady."
[Nice to meet you.]
They both spoke in unison as they were elegantly bowing to him. They managed to hide their shock at seeing the boy's hair and eyes.
"Um, nice to meet you too."
"You may return to your duties."
Elaine declared with a dignified voice. Along with her twin sister, Elaine held the highest rank among the mansion staff.
[Yes mam.]
They both nodded before leaving.
"Now then, shall we go?"
She turned around before muttering those words with a smile.
"Yes, we can go."
Immediately after exiting the building, the boy widened his eyes in astonishment.
"It's so beautiful."
"You think so? This mansion belongs to Lady Lotus, one of the highest-ranking individuals in the kingdom. She had the yard decorated with beautiful grass and the rarest trees and flowers. Some are so rare that they can't be found anywhere outside the mansion."
Elaine chuckled. She was happy to see the happiness on his face. Going out was definitely something the boy needed.
They both walked out of the mansion's premises and they took a left turn. After walking a short distance, the boy broke the silence and spoke.
"Um, Miss Elaine."
"You don't have to use honorifics with me, just call me by my name."
Elaine muttered with a beautiful smile.
"Oh um, Elaine."
"Yes?"
"What really happened to Lillian, will she really return soon?"
"She's okay, I sent her to a place that will calm her down. The place was created by our Lady specifically for her."
Elaine muttered with a sad look on her face.
"Why is that?"
"Well, you see Lillian and I are not really from this world. You already know that from her. Living in the demon realm is totally different from living in this world. The demon realm is a world where only the strong survive. Those who are weak serve as food for the strong. She could not handle the constant violence we had to endure. Our parents were killed by a monster that was tens of meters tall. Lillian was a cheerful girl before our parents died, she's like this now because of what we went through. Once she loses her temper it's very difficult for her to calm down. We are alive today because we were rescued from that hell."
"You were rescued by Lady Lotus."
The boy commented.
"Yes, Our Lady is the one who saved our lives."
"How's the demon realm different from this world? You referred to it as being a different world."
Elaine turned around and looked at the boy in amazement. His speech had somewhat improved. Elaine did not know the reason behind it, but she couldn't help but let out a soft giggle.
"Well, the demon realm is a space that exists independently from this universe. According to my Lady, it was created shortly after the birth of this universe. The demon realm is as wide as this universe, but in contrast to the world it is filled with darkness and malice. The demon realm is a semi-material world that is home to a wide range of creatures, some existing as spirits and some with physical forms."
"What's she like? I mean Lady Lotus."
"You want to know what she's like? Well, I don't even know where to begin describing her to you. She has blue silky hair so beautiful that men can't resist her charm, crystal blue eyes that give off the impression of being able to see all and pure white skin with a little bit of pink toned to perfection. It's as If she is beauty itself. She's a kind-hearted and loving person, adored all over the world. She lends a hand to those in need. She is indeed perfection itself. She united all of the races that call Proxis their home. Her kindness is truly bottomless."
Elaine declared happily as she was describing her beloved Lotus. She spoke with tears running down her cheeks.
"She sounds like an amazing person."
"She's definitely an amazing person, you should meet her at any cost."
"I can meet her when we return."
"I'm pretty sure she'll be back soon. Oh look here, we've arrived at a travel port."
Elaine announced to the boy after they had arrived at a place that was not very far from the mansion.
"So this is a travel port. Um, what's a travel port."
"Fufu! A travel port is a place responsible for the transportation of goods and it is also used for travelling. There are two categories: local travel ports and long-distance travel ports. Can you tell which one this is?"
"Is it a local travel port?"
The boy answered while scratching the back of his head.
"Correct, this is a local travel port and it's responsible for transporting goods and people around the kingdom. Can you guess what the long-distance travel port is for?"
"It's for transporting goods and people around the country?"
"You're good at this. The populace uses the travel port to travel around the kingdom and to transport goods by means of teleportation. Each port has several teleportation magic circles that are connected to a system that was developed by my Lady herself. The ports allow one to teleport to a place with a port in the kingdom and also to the port located at the gate which is the only one responsible for long-distance travels."
"So if I want to go to any place in the kingdom I can just walk to this port?"
"Yes, it's as simple as that. Using the port costs as little as fifty copper coins while the one at the gate costs two hundred and fifty copper coins when traveling outside of the kingdom. If we are traveling as a pair one of us pays the full price while the other has to pay ninety percent. If we are in a group of more than two, then the additional price keeps diminishing by ten percent until it caps at ten percent."
"What if there are more than ten people?"
"If there's an eleventh person then the price resets for that person. It then starts diminishing by ten percent for the twelfth person."
"Oh, I see."
You haven't eaten anything since you woke up, are you hungry?"
Elaine asked the boy with a concerned look.
"I'm not hungry, but I am curious to know what food tastes like."
"Okay then, I'll take you to my favorite restaurant. I know you'll love the food offered there. Hop in and we'll be there in a blink of an eye."
Lillian chuckled as she grabbed the boy's hand and walked towards the lady who operated the traveling port.
"Hey, Ace!"
"Ace? Who could that be?"
Acencia muttered while tilting her head.
"Stop messing around!"
Elaine let out a scream as veins appeared on her forehead.
"Fufuhahaha! I've managed to make you reveal your true self, Ell."
"Hhh, you really are a pain you know that."
Elaine sighed before scowling at Acencia.
"Oh, who's that? You're holding hands too. Could it be that my friend went and got married without telling me? Silver hair and those eyes, you're married to a vampire?"
"Huh! No."
In a panic, Elaine quickly let go of the boy's hand.
"This boy here is a guest of my Lady."
"Oh, I see. Was he also rescued from the demon realm?"
"I don't know that yet but my sister and I reached the same conclusion. It is easy to tell from his appearance that he is not from this world."
"So he's not a vampire huh?"
"Hey, why do you look disappointed to hear that."
Elaine grinned at Acencia.
"Oh look at this demon maid excited at my sadness. And you, what's your name?"
"Um, I…"
"He doesn't remember his name okay."
Elaine interrupted the boy as he was about to say something.
"What do you mean he does not remember his name?"
"Apparently he does not remember anything, like at all. Lillian says there's a possibility that something must have happened to him before our Lady found him."
"If he's really from the demon realm then it would make sense that he was battling. Well enough about that, where are you to going?"
"I'm taking him around the kingdom. We thought it would be better for him to have a distraction than to be crammed all day in the mansion."
"I see."
Acencia answered with a wry smile.
"I'll see you later then."
Elaine told Acencia as she was walking towards the magic circle with the boy. After reaching the magic circle she turned around and waved her hand at her friend.
"Yeah later. I hope you can at least remember your name."
"I hope so too."
"Hey Ell, did you…"
Acencia's face turned pale as she realized that Elaine had been planning on using the port without paying.
"Something wrong Ace? You look like you've seen a ghost."
Elaine slowly raised the corners of her lips after uttering those words.
"No not again, Ell wait! You have to pay ninety-five coppers."
Acencia bemoaned.
"Goodbye."
Elaine replied with an eerie grin. She and the boy turned into light particles before disappearing.
"Damnn! She got away again. I'll make that maid pay for this."
Acencia was upset at her friend for not paying the fee for using the port. She had gotten away with using the port without paying for a second time and Acencia was not happy about it.
