Chapter 4

In just a split second, all my attention drifted towards him. I completely forgot about the pretty cherry blossoms. Instead, here I was, fascinated by the mere existence of the enigmatic stranger standing in front of me.

I couldn't clearly see his face because half of it was covered in a black face mask.

But I could see his eyes. Just one look at his eyes sent a shudder through me. His eyes were the most captivating eyes I had ever seen. So charismatic yet so cold. They screamed of dominance and power. Even the way he was looking at me made me crumble with submission and fear. Why was he looking at me like that? Was he really looking at me?

I turned around to see whether he was looking at somebody else but nobody was standing behind me. And the whole park was isolated. It was just the two of us and the silent breeze. Why did this look like a scene from one of those scary movies?

You are never supposed to make eye contact with weird strangers. And here I was, just staring back at a weird stranger who resembled an abductor or worse---a serial killer. Fear conquered my heart. What was I going to do? Should I run? Should I scream?

His gaze on me was still so intense. It felt as if he was trying to engrave me in his eyes. I couldn't look away from him either. No matter how scary he looked or no matter how much panicked I felt, an unknown force seemed to be pulling me towards him.

Suddenly, he started to walk toward me. This was it... I was in danger. Who knows what'll happen to me in a few seconds? I tried to think of running away but my body didn't move. The icy cold feeling of danger had petrified my body and I was hopeless.

But after taking a few steps he stopped. His eyes looked stunned for a few seconds as if realizing he had done something wrong. Then, without even sparing a glance at me, he turned around and started to walk away. Not a single word came out of his mouth. Nor did he try to confront me.

As he walked away without imposing any threat, all I could see was the beautiful tattoo of a butterfly spreading behind his neck. Dark inky lines converged into a beautiful design of a swallowtail butterfly.

There was something so attractive yet so dangerous about it. I dazedly looked at it as the stranger continued to walk away without looking back.

And just like that, he was gone...he disappeared into the distance like the shadow of a fleeting dream

Short, rich, and handsome, Lin Feiran was always the center of attention. But after transferring schools in his second year of high school, he discovered that his limelight was snatched by his Adonis classmate, Gu Kaifeng.

A light touch would disable it for five minutes, a kiss for an hour, and so on…

Lin Feiran had no choice but to throw himself into his archnemesis’s embrace. This complete reversal in attitude to being intimate with Gu Kaifeng persisted every day from morning till night.

When sleeping, he must squeeze in the same bed as Gu Kaifeng. Going to the toilet? He must drag Gu Kaifeng with him. Homework? It must be done hand-in-hand with Gu Kaifeng… He also had to try his best to persuade the teacher to make him Gu Kaifeng’s deskmate. Every day in class, he would rub Gu Kaifeng’s calf with his foot beneath the desks…

Following the clingy little bastard’s sudden change in personality, the initially shocked Gu Kaifeng gradually became smitten. Every day he would chase Lin Feiran to flirt with him, make crazy confessions, and even routinely push him against the wall and kiss him…

Gu Kaifeng: “Don’t you like me? I like you, so let’s be together.”

Lin Feiran: “I don’t like you! Don’t come over!”

Gu Kaifeng: “……”

Five minutes later, to avoid seeing ghosts, Lin Feiran sneakily came to touch Gu Kaifeng.

Gu Kaifeng turned around, stopping his hand: “After you just rejected me, you come back to flirt with me!?”

Lin Feiran: “Who’s flirting with you! I was careless and touched you; don’t imagine that I like you back.”
