EPISODE - 03

[At the Periphery of the Eastern Forest]

The general – “Your majesty, it seems there is a possibility that this roar came from a demon. Then, it could be dan-.”

The king – “Shut up! Don’t jinx it. How could there e a demon in this area? Even the temple had confirmed it!”

The general, Manas, said – “Of course, your majesty. But, as your friend and your military counsellor, I must say that this is going to be very dangerous.” The king ignored him and came out of his tent.

He gave a massive encouraging speech to his soldiers.

[At the end of the speech]

The king – “Listen all of you! It seems like there is a large tiger or lion in this forest. This is going to be a big hunt! WHO IS WITH ME??!!!”

All the soldiers, ”AAAEEEE!!!!”

King – “LOUDER!”

Everyone – “AAAAYYYYEEEEEE!!”

King – “Good! That’s how it should be! Haha!”

The general didn’t look happy about this. He knew what dangers could come in the path, though, he couldn’t stop him. This way, his liege’s life was in grave danger too!

The king and his men entered the forest. It was so dense that even sunlight couldn’t pass through the canopy of leaves of trees which stood so tall, touching the sky. The cavalry kept moving in the jungle. There was no sight of any kind of animal yet. Fortunately, they came across a tiger which was coming towards them. The king became very happy and shot at the tiger. However, it kept running towards them as if being chased by something even more horrific from behind. The tiger fell on the ground shivering and dead on the spot.

‘Strange, the tiger was not roaring but shivering.’ The general noticed. Observing the sheer number of animals in the jungle was concerning. ‘Is there a demon which is responsible for all of this? No! No! No! How could there be a demon here? His majesty told me that even the temple confirm that there are no demons in this jungle. But then, why can’t I get rid of this bad premonition?’ The general was worried.

After killing the tiger, the men rejoiced. The king allowed everyone to rest for a while near a stream.

“Boohoo…*sniff* *sniff*Boohoo” A crying woman’s voice came from somewhere. The scared soldiers who heard the voice came back to the king and told everyone what they had heard. The brave king took some of his soldiers and went in that direction.

There was actually a woman sitting near the stream back facing towards them. She kept crying and crying. The soldiers were a little bit enraged that the woman did not greet the king. The king stopped them and sent them a little far from him and the woman. He kept his hand on the woman’s shoulder and tried to talk to her. However, she flinched and got scared even more. She started crying even louder. The king was flustered. He said, “Please don’t misunderstand. We are not bad people. Did you lose your way into the forest? Don’t worry, we will save you.” The king noticed behind her back that the woman was wearing very expensive clothe and jewellery – Must be some noble or princess. Hearing the king’s words, the woman turned around. She was so inexplicably beautiful that the king’s heart skipped a beat, especially looking at her crying face.

The king asked – “My lady, who are you? What are you doing in this jungle?”

The woman wailed – “Oh traveler! I am the only princess of a faraway kingdom\, the Farosa kingdom. My family and my servants along with a party of soldiers and mercenaries were travelling by this route to get to the Kundastra kingdom. However\, we didn’t know that there was a demon on our way here.*hic* *hic*” Just saying this much\, she choked and started crying again. The king pitied the young girl who was crying her heart out. He hugged the girl and wiped her tears. She continued\, “That demon ate all of *hic* my family and my people. *hic* He said that I was *hic* beautiful *hic* so he won’t eat me. *hic* Rather\, he would capture me and marry me later.” *hic* *hic*

The king was enraged – “How dare that demon! Dare to marry! Where is that demon right now? I will kill it!” The king’s blood boiled seeing such delicate beauty crying her eyes out.

The princess cried\, “That demon has gone to the demon realm to invite his family and friends to his wedding. He told me if I tried to run\, he would eat me. I don’t want to die while being eaten alive. So\, I decided to kill myself” *Boohoo*

“NO! Absolutely NOT!” the king screamed while holding the princess’ shoulder in both his hands.

The princess was shocked b this behaviour. The king realized he was too close. In those days, men and women shouldn’t be that close (especially unmarried ones).

“Ahem… I…I’m sorry. I was a little bit agitated after hearing what you just said. M- my apologies, your highness.”

“That’s fine\, I am no longer a princess anymore…My people…they are all…*Gasp* I almost forgot you are a good person…you shouldn’t die. Get out of here\, please. At least\, you should live! That demon told me that he would be coming back in ten days. I…”

“It’s fine.”

“No, it’s not! He could be coming back in a day by now. I…”

“Don’t be afraid so much. If the demon comes, I will fight and kill him.”

“But…” The king put a finger on the princess’ lips.

“What are you so afraid of? I am pretty strong, you know!”

“Oh no no…that’s not what I meant…” She seemed a little down. By now, she had stopped crying. Now she had hoped to survive that evil demon.

“What is it? Ask away. No one is stopping you.” The king said with a smile.

“It’s just no one would marry me now if they knew that I was caught by a demon and saved by a man…”

“Don’t worry, I will marry you! Did I not tell you? I am actually the king of this nation!”

“WHAT?!” the princess was shocked!

The king laughed at her reaction. He lifted the girl in his arms in bridal style and went to his men. He said, “Everyone, gather around! As of today, by the oath of ten directions and five elements, I will marry the princess of Farosa Kingdom.”

His men cheered for their king. The prime minister came out of the crowd with the general and said, “Your majesty! You already have a wife, her majesty, the Queen!”

The king clicked his tongue, “So what? Many kings have had many wives!”

The prime minister asked, “Then, what about the Queen?”

The king said, “She will stay as the Queen. Is there no way for me to have two wives? Huh?!”

Prime minister – “There cannot be two Queens in a kingdom, your majesty. But, I never said there is no way for you to have two wives. However, your second wife must be given the status of consort and not the Queen itself.”

The king looked at the princess with a frowning expression. The princess smiled and said, “It is fine as long as I can be with you, my hero.” She blushed.

The king also blushed after hearing her words. He kissed her hand and said, “My name is Maharaja Vikrant Sahawaliya. Priya, do you accept to be my imperial consort (concubine)?”

Priya, the princess replied with happiness, “Yes!”

They got married on the spot. Slowly, the sun was starting to set.

The king, Vikrant and the princess, Priya rode on the king’s horse with his men following him behind. They started the journey back to the palace.

The king was in a very good mood. He said, “Manas, did you see? If I listened to your advice today, I might have lost my Priya.”

The general, Manas, replied, “Yes, your majesty is wise and brave. However, there was actually a demon in the forest. We couldn’t let down our guard.”

The king groaned, “Oh well! Even if it was there, I would have killed it!”

The general replied, “Of course. Your majesty is the wisest and the bravest.”

The king laughed. The princess blushed.

The general and the prime minister looked at each other with disapproval. They didn’t know anything about the princess except that she was from the Farosa kingdom. They have served the king for so long and handled so many political matters. However, they have never even heard of this Farosa kingdom, ever! They wondered where she came from. They felt it even stranger that their always-alert king is being like that. However, they chose to oversee it. They didn’t have a choice.

The king reached the palace and informed everyone. The preparations for their official marriage begin soon. Their marriage lasted for a whole month. All the citizens of the kingdom completely celebrated the arrival of the new consort with joy. The whole kingdom was decorated like a bride. Everyone looked so happy. They forgot about their problems and enjoyed the whole month.

However, no one knew where that foreign consort came from.
