Episode 4
Outside, the rain poured heavily. Sam stared out the window from inside the cabin, admiring one of nature's gifts. She then reached the backpack she had brought and rummaged into it. She pulled out her diary and went to take a seat. She took a long look at it, she remembered writing her feelings for Kassi in this book. And till now, the diary remained with her. In her thoughts, questions begin popping into her mind.
Sam
I know I shouldn't. Maybe it's not the time yet.
Sam
But I loved her. I can't forget her. That's why I came back.
Sam
Will she have the same feelings for me? This female love?
Silence. Sam couldn't answer her own thoughts. Deep in her mind, another voice interrupted.
Sam
Have you forgotten what you are?!
Sam
Have you forgotten what you have done to mom and dad?!
Sam
How many more lives are you going to take?!
Sam
You shouldn't even come back!!!
Sam
You! You're not a normal human being... You are a beast!!!
Sam
I did not ask for this!
Sam
I did not want to be a beast!
Sam argued with her conscience.
Sam
I'm empty... I'm so alone!
The heavy down pour had already ceased. Sam brushed the stabbing questions from her head quickly before she loses her sanity. She took a deep breath and exhaled. Tears trickled down her cheeks. She wiped away the sadness as she kept the diary back into the backpack. She grasped the car key and went out for a drive into town. Leaving the argument with her conscience behind, she left.
Sam entered a book shop and started browsing the books in one of the aisles. She feels much better now. Calm and sober from distress. From the far end corner, a young man approaches Sam.
Sam turned towards the voice. There stood an unfamiliar person smiling back at her.
Bruno
I was reading in that corner... and I saw you walking in.
Bruno
I would like to know you...
As he spoke, the hair on her nape began to stand. Her senses are telling her that there's a dark side within him. Her nose smelt blood, fresh and young. The stench came from him.
Sam
I'm not interested. Please leave me alone.
Bruno
Ah. Okay, then. Sorry to bother you.
The guy walked away and exited the book shop. Sam exhaled in relief... but not her senses. The voice in her mind had turned silent. Yet her senses are screaming in fear. They are telling her what he is.
Sam
He's not human... He's a beast ... Just like me.
Quickly, Sam leaved the shop and drove back to the cabin. By the time now, evening has darkened the skies. Upon arriving, Sam hurried into the shack and locked the door.
Far from behind the trees, dark shadows moved to surround the cabin. They sniffed the air. They followed her. One of the silhouettes moved forward, he got nearer to the shack but not near enough to be seen. His lips formed a grin. He watched the girl from the book shop, walking inside the cabin.
Another shadow joined him.
Bruno
She saw it in me. Smelt it. Feels it.
Morris
We've come a long way for this. We've been following her scent for months. Don't waste her like the others.
Bruno
I'll try not to. If she resist, then I don't have a choice, do I?
Bruno
If I can't have her, no one will... But this one is different, Morris.
Bruno
There's something about her. I can't tell yet. I need to get closer to her.
Morris
Do what you need to do, Bruno. We'll be waiting for your orders.
The pack dispersed and silently left the sphere.
