"Alright. Testing. Testing. Good. This is Detective Grace Charles, preparing to make my way into the secret hideout of The Omen Seekers."
Ambient noise of a quiet street. Loud footsteps on the sidewalk leading inside a building.
The wooden door of the store opening, the sound suddenly being crowded by loud clocks ticking every second. Every clock with the exact same time. Wooden cuckoo clocks ticking away every single second
"Hello there, how can I help you today?"
An elderly man's voice asked.
"You could help me by answering a question for me."
Grace tried to make her voice sound more masculine and deep while her face remained mostly obscured.
"I'd love to answer it if I can."
The man said with a cheery tone.
“I have no beginning and no end, yet I touch everything. What am I?” Grace asked.
The man gave a short chuckle.
“Oh I do love riddles. The answer is the ocean.” He replied while laughing.
“Is there anything else I can…”
"I am in the past, never in the future. I don't exist, but have existed. I saw what you saw, and this is what I will ever see. What am I?" Grace asked, interrupting him.
There was a brief hesitation before he answered.
"Memory." The Man responded, still cheerful but with a noticeable sorrow and seriousness in his voice.
"I am the beginning of the end, as well as the end of time and space. I am essential to creation and I surround every place. What am I?" Grace asked.
There was a long pause before the man answered.
"E."
His voice was dry and serious now, completely void of happiness or excitement anymore.
"What is greater than God,
more evil than the devil,
the poor have it,
the rich need it,
and if you eat it, you'll die?"
Grace asked.
The only sound that came next was the sound of the front door locking as if automatic. All of the ticking clocks suddenly stopped, leaving the room in complete silence.
"Nothing."
The man whispered.
The clocks all suddenly erupted in violently loud ringing, blasting louder than a hundred bombs exploding at once.
It all went silent right after, the room void of any noise.
Almost like time itself had frozen, with nothing able to move or create any noise.
“Who are you?” The man asked.
“Just looking to learn about the savior of the future.” Grace replied.
“I’ve never seen you before.” He replied.
“I’m a new follower.” Grace said.
“Well then…you can follow me.”
Grace began to follow the man, the footsteps the only thing heard by the hidden tape recorder.
The sound of a door loudly opening, as if it hadn’t been open in months and had gotten stuck in the door frame. Loud creaking and grinding.
“As I said, I’m a new follower. What can you tell me about The Seekers?” Grace asked.
“I shall not reveal anything. You will learn what you need to know once the service has started.” The man replied dryly, letting Grace in before shutting the door.
“Well…I’m standing alone in a pitch black hallway.” Grace whispered to herself, only loud enough for the recorder to hear.
She began to walk slowly and cautiously down the hall, reaching out to feel the walls around her as she moved.
“Okay…so the walls are still wood. Nothing too crazy yet. I’m not feeling anything strange, although I do wish I brought my flashlight.”
She sighed and continued to walk, but the further she went, she could hear a strange noise.
(Editors Note that isn’t a necessary part of the story but should make it more fun. Listen to “The End of The World” by Brando Calrissian while reading this next section)
A horn, or something like it.
A distorted, bass sounding noise that more closely resembled a demonic wail.
As she drew closer, she could hear drums playing.
Massive drums be smashed, like the sounds of war drums commanding any army.
The further she moved down the hall, the horn became more and more of a distorted noise, merging into a strange hellish sound of pitches smashing together.
Rumbles and growls as if coming from a demonic creature.
The music began to become clearer and clearer.
The bass continues with the horrifying tone.
The drums loudly ringing out.
Loud horns began to take over, blasting with very long and drawn out notes, switching to play a melody of madness.
Grace continued to walk as the music grew louder and louder.
The horns stopped, all that was heard was the massive drums and the horrifying bass that was lower than a rumble.
It was shaking her body and soul as she moved closer.
The horns were quietly coming back, growing louder and louder and louder.
Grace stepped through the doorway just as the music stopped.
There was a brief second of silence.
“Oh…my…God…” She whispered.
It all came crashing in while screaming and cheering accompanied it, hellish, demonic screams and shouts of excitement.
The horns were blasting, the drums were blasting, the bass was shaking everything around them.
All coming together as a cacophony of carnage.
Grace knew what this meant…what the music was.
It was a sign of things to come.
