chapter 3

Oman was doing his work, but his mind wandered to her. She doesn't talk much; however, she speaks with her eyes. Her gaze always pierced through his heart with her sadness. A little girl who was fighting with people alone was really scary.

He had seen her many times, jumping here and there like a butterfly. He helped her by giving her something to eat whenever they crossed paths. Maybe that's why she used to chase him. After taking something to eat from Oman, she used to run away. He always wonders how she survives.

He wasn't interested in her, but there was something... weird. which makes her interesting. After thinking for a while, he pushed his thoughts to the back of his head.

*******

She doesn't remember much, but on that fateful day, she got separated from her father. Her father went into the crowd and never came back for her. She tried to look for her dear father right there, around a bakery.

She spent days in front of the bakery, sitting by the side of the street. She had no guardian to provide her shelter. Then days passed and the weathers came and went. To fill her stomach, she started stealing food.

She still roams around that bakery, waiting for her father. In hope that he will come back someday and take her home, She was treated like a princess in her own home, however she became a homeless girl, and people think of her as a thief.

After meeting Oman, she instantly started admiring him. But she didn't know this admiration would open a new gate and change her fate.

!!****!!

Eventually, it became a habit for the girl to visit Fatima regularly to eat homemade cuisine, which Fatima made especially for her.

Ecstasy could be seen on her little face while chewing those fabulous dishes she had never tasted before.

Fatima and the girl had gotten closer over the last month. They were like a little girl and a mother.

Oman was happy for his sister, as she didn't have any children. However, Oman was worried about the future, when Fatima would have to go back home to her husband.

Their bond scared him. Kasim, her husband, won't accept the girl. Kasim's attitude toward Fatima was beyond tolerable. But Fatima never shared her grief with her brother.

Fatima took care of her. Besides, this little girl looked so innocent that whoever looked at her was easily wrapped around her tiny finger.

"I have to give you a name; it's really hard to call you sometimes." The girl smiled at this. She was munching on an apple, and her cheeks matched the colour of the apple.

She has a beautiful face without a name and a beautiful smile to hide her pain. Fatima's heart sank thinking about her smile.

"Oh, my baby. Ok, then what about Tara?" Fatima saw the confused expression covering her small face. The girl was thinking about the meaning behind this name.

"What you don't like it? It means star. You know, when I was expecting a child, I decided if I had a daughter, then I would give this name to her," Fatima said, looking into her hazel eyes.
