Episode 4

Night gave way to day, and Luna was still sleeping, even though she usually woke up before dawn. Despite everything, she had managed to sleep wonderfully, she felt very comfortable in that bed, she felt like she loved it. Without wanting to, she got up, took a shower, tidied herself up a bit, and went out for breakfast.

Upon arriving at the cafeteria, she ordered her favorite coffee and a donut, and sat quietly to enjoy her drink. She had a strange peace with herself, and it was because she knew that she hadn't failed, she gave it her all, and what she received in return were lies and deceit. She would like to be a vengeful person, go to the church and ruin that marriage. She imagined the look of panic on the traitor's face, alias Cristian, and the anger of his fiancee, the fury of her father, and she smiled, yes, it would be very good to do it. She shook her head from those thoughts, but she wasn't like that, what she was going to do was continue with her life, far from those horrible people, lick her wounds every day until they no longer hurt or bleed. Yes, that was definitely the right path. She knows that one day she will wake up and everything will be a bitter nightmare and her life will be good again.

She took out her cell phone and dialed Mercedes' number, the owner of the boarding house where she lived when she first left the orphanage. If she didn't have room, maybe she knows someone who does. After a few seconds, the phone connected.

"Hello, Mercedes?"

"Yes, hello, who's speaking?"

"Hello Merce, it's Luna, do you remember me?"

"Luna my girl, how could I not remember you, how can I help you?"

"I'm looking for a room, I have to vacate the apartment because I lost my job and I wanted to know if you have any available."

"Oh my girl, no, I don't have anything, but I know who can help you, she only lodges women, I'll give you the address, don't worry, go on my behalf, she's my sister Ana. Did I ever tell you about her?"

"Yes, I remember you mentioned her, and I appreciate the help, now I'll write down the address" She asked the waiter for pen and paper and wrote down the information the woman gave her. She was happy, she felt that not everything was lost, not yet. She smiled without knowing the storm that was brewing over her.

She left the place and prepared to walk, the house was not that far and she felt the need to do it, for the fresh air to brush her face and clear her mind. She had many things to think about. She still didn't know which path to take, it was very difficult for her to start over, but not impossible, she wasn't going to let herself be defeated.

After walking for 40 minutes, she arrived at the house, and when she looked up, she was astonished at how beautiful that place was. It looked old, perhaps from the last century, with beautiful gray stones on its front, very large windows of carved glass of different colors, with a beautiful double door, also made of carved wood. She was simply fascinated. She prepared to knock on the door. A very beautiful woman of about 50 years old came out of it, with blonde hair and honey-colored eyes, her complexion very white like porcelain. She wasn't very tall, but taller than her, though not much. She looked at her with curiosity and gave her a big smile.

"Hello, good morning, how can I help you?"

"Hello, I'm Luna Calas, I'm here on behalf of Mercedes."

"Oh, of course, a pleasure Luna, my sister spoke very highly of you, come in, I have a beautiful room that I know you'll love."

Both entered the house, and if she was surprised by the outside, she was enamored by the inside, it was splendid. It had a large living room, with beautiful furniture, the rooms were on the first floor, all had private bathrooms, and were very large, with large beds, a small table and a chair. The floor was parquet, all polished, with a closet and dresser for clothes. It had a large window with a balcony that overlooked a beautiful garden. She was speechless, she couldn't make a sound, that place was much better than the apartment she had lived in. Then a doubt assailed her, could she afford it?

"It's all very beautiful, but... How much is the room?" Her face showed the worry that overwhelmed her, she really wanted to stay in the place but what if she couldn't afford it?

"Don't worry dear, I charge the same as my sister, I don't do it for the money, but to help. One day I'll tell you my story, now go get your things. There are 4 other girls living here, two of them are a couple, when you meet them you'll love them. I want to believe that we are a small, great family and we help each other."

Luna opened her eyes wide, she couldn't believe what she was hearing, the price was really good, not many people lived in that house, all women, which meant not having to endure any kind of harassment like she had in the past, now all that was left was to get a job.

She quickly left the place towards the bus stop, if she walked it would take her a long time and she was already tired and very sleepy. In 15 minutes she was close to the hotel and was very hungry. As soon as she found a restaurant she sat down to eat something, she was really starving. She wanted pasta, but also meat and vegetables. She decided on gnocchi, but her hunger remained. She was desperate, she felt like she hadn't eaten in a month. In the end she also ordered grilled meat with some potatoes. It was delicious, and already satisfied, she prepared to walk towards the hotel. The clouds were already covering almost the entire sky, it was better to hurry, if it rained she would get too wet, and she could get sick, they were in autumn and the days were getting colder.

Upon entering the hotel lobby, she began to feel dizzy, maybe it's because of everything she ate, yes, that's for sure, she thought. She reached the elevator door and stayed there, she didn't know anything else about her, until when she opened her eyes she saw herself in a white room, with several beds and people around. She knew perfectly well where she was, it was the ward of a state hospital, full of sick people and doctors running from one side to the other. When she sat up a little, she realized that the dizziness persisted. A young man in a white coat approached her with a frown.

"Calm down, don't sit up, wait a few moments while we check your blood pressure, you fainted at the Hotel Carol and they brought you here. In a few minutes we will have the results of the analysis we performed and if everything is in order you can go home. Do you want us to call someone?" The doctor spoke in a rush, almost without breathing, in a hurry to be able to attend to other patients who also need him. She didn't even have time to answer when he turned around and went to look at the man in the bed next to her who was screaming in pain in his stomach.

"Don't worry, Doctor Alister is like that, he's one of the best even though he's so young. Do you want to call someone?"

"No, I don't have anyone, no problem" The nurse looked at her with a complicated face that Luna didn't know if it was of pity or that she didn't believe her, she didn't really care either. Anyway they were very kind.

She laid her head back, let out a long sigh and prepared to wait for the results. She looked at her phone and had some notifications, although nothing important, just social media. No messages, no one had written to her, she had no friends. Since she met Cristian, she turned him into her universe to such an extent that she didn't even take the time to make friends beyond the camaraderie of work.

"Well miss, I have the results, don't worry that your fainting is normal, it may even happen again, alert the people around you that it's just because of the pregnancy" The doctor blurted out as if nothing, leaving the poor girl with her mouth open. A large knot formed in her throat and the words wouldn't come out, the gears in her brain began to work at a thousand and finally she knew, her period hadn't come, 4 weeks late, she had studied so much, she was so stressed that she didn't even realize "Did you know about the pregnancy? You have to make an appointment with an obstetrician as soon as possible, if you want I'll recommend one, take it here I'll give you his name" The man kept talking non-stop, as if he didn't need to breathe at any time. He extended a paper with the name of an obstetrician and said goodbye wishing the young future mother good luck, without waiting for an answer of course. The man with the pain was being transferred to surgery, they had to do everything very quickly.

This certainly changed everything, now there were two. What was the best decision given her circumstances? What was she going to do? The knot in her throat untied and one by one the tears began to flow, falling copiously down her cheek, and when she went out into the street the rain greeted her. The sky wept along with her, knew her pain, understood her misfortune. Everything together like a waterfall fell on her, the abuse in her childhood, the loneliness of the orphanage, the betrayal of her love and now....
