Chapter 03 -
Start
☆Alexander's point of view☆
"Mother, will my fourth sibling be a girl or a boy? I hope it's a boy again, so that Alastair, Adonis and I can play with him!" I told my mother excitedly, with the biggest smile I had on my face.
My mother patted my head softly and said; "Alexander, no matter what gender your sibling is, I want you to promise me that you'll protect her no matter what, okay?" I nod my head and put my right arm in my chest promising her that I'll protect my baby sibling.
That day, I happily played and spent time with my mom and brothers. But little did we know, it would be the last time we'll be seeing our mother.
"The poor young masters, they lost their mother after she given birth to the young miss!" I heard one maid said.
"Yes, the Duchess was too young to have passed away! It must be because the child brings misfortune!" Another one said.
"I heard when the child was born, it's eyes were blood red and it's hair was silver! Then it change! The child is cursed and is a misfortune to this family!" And yet another maid said.
I snapped at the words their spouting. My sister, my only sister is indeed the cause of my dearest Mother's passing! I will never forgive her! Never!
Years later...
"Hello, Brother! Good morning to you!" An annoying high pitched voice greeted me.
Her again. I thought.
"What do you want?" I coldly said to her. She smiled and bowed her head.
"I'm here to greet the first young master, my brother!" She said, with a smile.
Her smile, it always reminds me of Mother. The way she smiles is so identical to Mother, actually, everything about her is identical to Mother.
I hated it.
"Stupid." I spat harshly at her. "Never do this ever again, or else..." I threatened her.
But she just smiled at that and stood there like an idiot as I left her behind. As I was leaving, I heard someone scolding somebody and a little girl's cry of pain were heard afterwards.
I looked behind and saw my sister's swollen crying face. She is being scolded by the head maid, I don't know why though.
But I did hear the head maid's scolding quite a bit.
"You little brat! How many times have I told you to stop running around and just do your job! You cursed brat! You brought nothing but misfortune to me!" Said the head maid to her.
She dipped her head down and sniffled as she apologize to the head maid. "I-I'm s-sorry, ma'am... It w-will n-never happen a-again." She was stuttering a bit as she spoke, she sounded afraid too.
But I didn't meddle with it, it's none of my business anyways.
....
"Hey, the brat's not trying to chat with us, she's not even sitting next to us!" Adonis curiously said. Alastair and I didn't really care but it is indeed odd of her to do so.
But before I could even thought of any reason, Adonis already went to find out about it himself.
"Hey you! Why are you sitting there? You did something wrong today, didn't you? That's why you're sitting far away from us! Why? Is it that bad that you must sit so far?" He aggressively asked Cassy. But his question was not answered.
"Hey! I'm talking to you! Did you really cause trouble? Hey! Answer me!" Adonis tried to get something at her again by taunting it out from her.
But Cassy only kept quiet and just continue to eat. She did looked pissed though.
"I'm done eating, Your Grace. Excuse me." she said and left her seat.
But before she could leave, she looked at Adonis's way and locked eyes with him. "Third young master, I do not wish to waste my energy and breath in arguing with and associating myself with people I too, do not want to be in the same room with. So if I may, I wish to be left alone." And with that she left us all in utter speechless ness.
"How dare she!" Adonis exclaimed.
I waited for somebody to knock and greets me today but there wasn't.
That's a bit odd. I thought.
She never misses a day. I wonder what could've happened to that girl.
Oh well, I guess she finally decided to take my words into consideration and stopped those stupid greetings she does every morning.
But even with that mindset, it still bothers me still.
I set those thoughts aside and just went through with my day. I picked out my villager clothes and put them on. I then set out to leave towards the town market.
"Oi Alex! How're you doing these past few days, mate?" Jonn (John), my friend asked me.
"Well, I'm doing just find. How about you?"
"Oh you know! Same old, same old, but seriously! What are you doin' in these parts of the market? Are you here for Daniella?" He moved his eyebrows mischievously.
I chuckle and smiled at his gesture.
"My friend, why ask if you already knew the answer?" All of the other merchants and villagers that I've befriended laughed along with us.
"Alex! You're here, this is a very pleasant surprise!" I heard my love's voice chimed in my ears.
"Dani! How are you this past week while I was away?" I asked her but the people answered for her.
"Oh Alex, she's been zoning out and has been absentminded this past week as you we gone."
"Yes, she hasn't been her self lately!"
I chuckle at everyone's chatter and watched as Dani's face turned crimson red.
"Stop it, Laurie!" She said to her friend, her hands covering her face due to shyness.
"How have you been, my star?" I went near and held her hand close to kiss it.
She smiled and blushed from my gesture.
"I've been fine, how about you? Did you and your sister spoke today?" She inquired.
She's always like this. Always asking about "that girl". I don't get why she feels pity for her. Dani said that she shouldn't be the one to blame for my mother's death, of course she's to blame!
If she was not born, mother would still be here with us! Alive and happy!
I stayed silent, not wanting to talked about "that girl".
"Alex, it's not her fault. She's just—"
"The reason why I don't have a mother and why my Father is always cold and distant from us all! She brought nothing but misfortune and sorrow in all our lives!" My fit off outburst raged frightened her and she flinched.
Then her frightened look became soft and full of meaning. She looked straight to my eyes.
"Alex, have you seen her built? She's all skinny and her body is so frail, she couldn't even withstand just a single gust of wind!" She sighed exasperatedly. "Indeed, you're sad and sorrowful about the death of your mother. But what about your sister? Compare to all of you, she suffer more than any of you combined."
I couldn't speak. She's been in the estate before that's how I met her. She saw everything that was happening in the east wing where Cassy stayed all her life.
A/N: Little storytime to back up or shed some light to Alexander's words.
Dani did went to the Duke estate and worked they for a very short period of time, she was assigned to serve Cassy's food and other demands. And one time as she was about to serve Cassy's food, she saw how the maids would just abuse Cassy.
They would held her down and continuously whip, slap and a lot more. But before she could do anything to help the poor abused Cassy, her contract had come it's end and she has to leave.
"I saw them hurt her. Please, Alex... Help her, don't hold any unnecessary grudges to someone who is innocent." She had begging eyes as she grip her hand tighter.
"I won't promise anything," I saw her shoulder slump in defeat. "But I'll try."
I saw the light go back in her eyes."
I smiled reassuringly but worry overwhelmed me from within.
How am I suppose to do this?
How will I forgive someone whom I've been plotting my revenge on for years now?
