Holding Back

I've been in the dungeon for a while but I've mostly been training, I haven't really fought any monsters, since unlike my first quest there are no time limits, so I can stay for as long as I want in the dungeon.

“ system. where are the monsters? ”

“ THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO MONSTERS IN YOUR IMMEDIATE SURROUNDINGS ”

“ so where are they? ”

“ 639 METERS WEST ”

“ huh... That far. How am I gonna get there? ”

“ HOW ELSE ARE YOU GOING TO GET THERE ?, BY RUNNING OF COURSE ”

“ sometimes I feel like you enjoy watching me suffer ”

Even though I'm being subjected to this intense training, I can't stop, I couldn't even if I wanted to. I have to grow stronger, I just have to.

“ alright ” I said bending over with my heel lifted upward, then sprinting at top speed.

“ how much further? ”

“ 424 METERS ”

“ that far. It feels like I've been running for ages ”

“ IN MY HONEST OPINION. I THINK YOU'RE JUST WEAK ”

“ what did you just say? ”

“ I SAID YOU'RE WEAK ”

“ damn you. ”

“ I WILL ADMIT THAT AT THIS POINT YOU ARE STRONGER THAN MOST HUMANS BUT YOU'RE STILL WEAK. IF YOU INTEND ON STAYING ON THIS LEVEL. YOU WILL DIE ”

“ I get it. I am weak I said as I continued my journey ”

“ MONSTER ABOVE YOU. 6 O'CLOCK ”

“ arrh ” I yelled as I sliced the monster from it's stomach, cutting it in two

“ it's one of those freaks ”

“ WOULD YOU LIKE TO USE APPRAISAL ON IT ”

As I said those words I could view the data of the monster

“ if I'm not mistaken. This monster is stronger than me. Right? ” I asked

“ STRONGER. WOULD BE AN UNDERSTATEMENT. IT IS SUPERIOR TO YOU IN ALMOST EVERY WAY ”

“ you're really not helping ”

“ THE ONLY REASON YOU ARE STILL BREATHING. IS BECAUSE OF ITS LACK OF INTELLIGENCE ”

“ well that does it. I'm gonna murder these as many of these things as I can ”

And so another night passed with me hacking and slashing monsters, and as usual I got very little sleep. The next morning I woke up late. I was in a hurry so I skipped my chores and left for school without breakfast. Even my hair was a mess.

“ who is that guy? ”

“ beats me ”

“ he's going at like a hundred kilometers per hour ”

I might not have noticed it but yesterday's training paid off. Now I was able to run a little bit faster and I had a lot more stamina.

“ damn. I'm gonna be late ”

I said while running with my upper body leaning forward and my hands behind.

Meanwhile inside the school building the students could see me coming from the windows.

“ who is that ”

“ guys come check this out ”

“ that guy's like a motorcycle ”

And just as the school gate was about to close I leaped off the ground with all the strength I could muster then after grabbing the fence I used the same technique I used during the car incident putting all my strength into my hands. Lifting my entire body upsidedown for just enough time to fly over the fence.

“ hey! ” the gatekeeper said

“ what. I was inside before you closed the gate right ”

“ I guess, but... Still... ” the gatekeeper said with veins swelling on his head

“ YOU SHOULD TRY NOT TO ANNOY HIM ”

“ oh shut it ” I said before walking away

“ huh? "

Because of my stunt, I was the center of attention that morning. So as I entered the class all sweaty and exhausted, I received a warm welcome from my fans

“ yo. Louis what was that? ” kelvin asked

“ yeah Louis. What was that? ” Lisa asked

“ well I was late so I ran ”

“ not that. How'd you just the fence like that? ”

“ well I just... Jumped ”

Meanwhile lurking behind the crowd was Stephanie the class princess. She'd been stalking me for a while now, but I don't get what someone like her would want with me. Like I said 'class princess '. she's beautiful, intelligent, popular and above all, she's the class rep. so what would a girl like her want with a guy like me. I mean I'm just me: not to brag. I'll admit I am handsome but my grades are pretty much average and most people outside our class don't even know I exist. So hence the term ‘ loser ’

“ DID YOU EVER CONSIDER THE POSSIBLITY THAT MAYBE, JUST MAYBE SHE MIGHT BE STALKING YOU BECAUSE SHE IS IN LOVE WITH YOU? ”

“ out of the question. I have a bad feeling about this ” I whispered

“ we've got phys ed, so the teacher want us to head to the gym ” Stephanie said

“ ok ”

“ ughh gym ”

“ ughh we're gonna have to be around a bunch of sweaty boys again ”

“ whatever ”

As usual the only ones who actually enjoy gym class are the jocks and the meatheads.

“hey Louis. You wanna play basketball with us? ”

“ hey no fair ”

These guys sure piss me off, they act like I don't exist, then the moment they see me pull off a stunt like that they start scouting me

“ no thanks. I don't know how to play ”

“ well that's a real bummer ” they said before leaving me alone.

“ sigh ”

“ hey you ” Stephanie said

“ what. Oh, hey princess ” I replied

“ don't call me that ”

“ would you prefer if I called you stalker instead? ”

“ What are you getting at ”

“ oh don't think I haven't noticed, princess ”

“ tch. Whatever ”

“ already everyone, settle down and get changed ” the instructor said

I headed inside the locker room with the other students and I'd forgotten about the whole dungeon stuff I had going on. The dungeon kind of gave me a mandatory workout, so it could be helped that I was a little ripped and in more ways than one.

“ wow. Louis when did you get this muscular? ”

“ and what is with the scars? ”

“ I know right ”

“ they're all over you ”

“ don't worry. It's nothing ” I said

“ Some people sure got it rough ”

During all the physical education activities. I tried not to draw too much attention to myself but I guess it didn't matter, since the princess way already on my tail.

Ding ding ding ding. Ding ding ding ding

“ hey Louis you wanna walk with us? ” noah aaked

“ nah. No thanks, maybe nother time ” I replied

“ hey Louis! ” Bryan said as he walked towards me with his gang.

“ what ”

“ umm we'll see you later ” Noah said walking away with mike

“ what do you want ”

“ you see we're thirsty, why don't you buy us a drink ”

“ and where your money ”

“ come on. What are friends for, you'll pay for us. Right! ”

“ sorry. But I don't have any cash ”

“ are you kidding me ” he said as he punched my face, Throwing me on the floor as I curled into a ball.
