Chapter 5

The Council tasked me as a Class 3 researcher to the country that resides in the East Asia. The country of Japan near the town of Kyoto. I cam seize this situation because I might gather some information of from where did I originated. If I go to Japan, this will be the first country that is near my home country in the South East Asia. I was given this task by the foundation upon hearing many youngsters going missing in a certain forest. A forest where there are many camping site. It was an unusual news because they never seen the bodies. Nor there was no evidence of murder. The foundation suspects something anomalous happening. Not even our Japan branch has a very hard time to research. I was sent as a representative of the headquarters.

Upon arrival, I was welcomed by the Foundation’s Japan branch into their country and gave me accommodation. It took nearly 2 days of flight in a economic airplane. I was so tired, my baacka nd neck was so stiff, all I thought is just lying in a soft bed.

Or so I thought.

It was a blanket lying on a ground. But for some reason it was so soft. I think they call it a futon? But even so I did not care, I just want to lie down and sleep. My inn was near the woods in Kyoto, where the camp site resides. I was tasked to be as near to the site as possible. As I lie down having a good night sleep, closing my eyes to say goodbye to this day and life knowing tomorrow will be a new day and new life for a researcher like me.

Its in the morning, as I open my eyes, I noticed I was not in the inn anymore, I was outside.

“Strange? How did I?”

I decided to get up on my feet to wander. But, a familiar sight came to my mind. The sight where all things began. Where my nightmare of my life began. The sights of my family and friends dead, but somehow, alive. The sun kept shining at that sight, but this time, it was like dark and light at the same time. They were like standing with lifeless eyes. As I come closer to them with a strange feeling, they approached me saying in an odd manner

“How dare you keep living!?”

Over and over and over again. Their voices were like tanks exploding, missiles going through my ear, their voices were boom to the point I covered my ears to reduce the sound, but it did not help at all. I walk backwards to get away from them, then I bumped somebody.

My eyes could not believe what I saw. It was the sight I never imagined.

It was my family. Dad, Mom, Timothy and Isabela. But, they were not complete in their body composition. They have missing limbs, arms, legs ,jaws ,eyes and many more body parts. Blooded while also saying

“How dare you keep living while we are dead?!”

Mom and Dad said to me.

“No !! Mom!! You misunderstand! I do not even know what is the reason why I am still alive to this point!! Believe me!! Today I am now learning the cau--”

“LIEESSS!!”

My older brother Timothy interrupted me with a scary voice because he has no jaw.

“No!! Be-be-believe me!!”

“You are lying!”

The sight of a crying Isabela caught my attention. She has no eyes, her body was covered with blood. She has no heart too.

They surrounded me and they still keep saying in a pattern.

“Its Unfair!”

“How dare do you keep living?!”

I thought I went crazy, Then I released the loudest scream I ever screamed.

Then..

I woke up. It was just a dream. All a dream, but something was not right. It felt like a real happening. I breathe heavily then breathe slowly to catch my breath. After looking back at a window, something caught my eye. I knew something was not right. It was, gigantic, one I never seen before. A Giant Skeleton looking at me right in the window. We looked eye to eye for a couple of seconds, after that I got a flashlight to flash that titanic being. Upon being shined by my flashlight, it produced a sound of, I think suffering?, as if it was hurt upon touching light. Then some gunshots were fired, a couple of armed personnel from the foundation kept shooting the giant skeleton. It fled at an incredibly fast speed. I tried to chase after it but it was too late. It is already running away from us.

“Sir! Are you alright?”

Says my personal body guard who is Japanese. I studied Japanese upon the foundation hired me because they said I will be ready if I were to be assigned to various places of even countries.

“Yes, I am fine”

I said in reply.

“Thank goodness you are safe, we really need you for our research Dr. Reyes”

We sighed in relief. But something really was not right at the direction where the giant skeleton. It was I think 11:37 pm.

“What was that thing?”

I questioned the guard

“That is what we will be conducting. To determine what were the gossips of giant skeleton appearing in this forest and campsite”

As I heard the word campsite, I knew exactly what was the strange feeling I was feeling when the skeleton ran.

“THE CAMPSITE!! THE CAMPSITE!!”

I told the guard with a scared face

“HE IS HEADING TOWARDS THE CAMPSITE!! WE NEED TO GO AFTER HIM RIGHT NOW AT THIS VERY MOMENT!!”

The guard immediately commanded all troops to go in the vans and armoured car, of course I too rode the van.
