<< - “Wh...at is this..?” - The boy barely murmured. This was Yuki's first real encounter with the "Kissed". His sister had told him about her battles and what he had to expect if Yuki met those monsters. She trained him personally how to heal if he suffered on the battlefield and how to use swords. But one thing is to imagine it and another to experience it.
- “Move ... Move, please! No ... I do not want to die ... “ - The quiet plead was directed to his own body. No matter how much he wanted to help, Yuki had no chances without real experience on the battlefield. He wanted to join the battle, but his body refused to move. It was like petrified. What was all his training for? Why did he pay so much attention if he couldn’t move now...?
Michael was in the Labyrinth. He was one of the judges who had to judge the kids. As he fought, he looked at the remaining children that were still alive. Between the torn bodies and the blood it was difficult to spot them, but not impossible. The children he found he carried to a safe place. Victims were increasing every second. Despair grew. He had promised Leyla to keep Yuki safe. But he couldn’t find him anywhere. The little defenseless brother of his fiancée. Yuki was like his own child! What would he do if he died? How would he look at her again?!
- “Where are the reinforcements!? How long will it be!” – Michael was shouting and running.
- “We're sorry, sir. All fighters except the guards are on the surface. There is a large group of monsters and they went down to help. We didn’t expect that they could get here!” - The younger soldier was responsible for the communications.
- “So we have to manage on our own! No one can let even one of those monsters get out of this room!!!” - Luck just was not on their side. Five angels against a small legion of monsters. If they were alone, the situation would be different. But now first and foremost was to save as many children as possible. Even if they were professionals, it was too much. Michael kept wondering how they came in here, but the answer to that question had to wait. At one point fate could be very kind, and at the next ruthless.
With the edge of his eye Michael saw the young Yuki, who was looking at everything and not moving at all. What was going on through that child's head at this sight? The worst thing was that one of these creatures was approaching him. He killed as soon as possible the creature he had his hands busy with and ran toward him.
- “Yuki! Get out of there!” - Yuki, despite Michaels yells, did not move.
- “Grrr!” - The fearful growl that filled the room could make even an experienced warrior feel chills running down his back. Yuki's eyes were staring up at the horrible thing that was in front of him, ready to tear him apart. He could move his body now, but there was no time to escape.
All kind of memories passed through his head. While at some point he heard the breaking of a glass. His eyes widened, but not from fear ... neither from the blood that spat on him nor from the blade that was inches away from his face. At that moment these things weren’t important. What his eyes saw was even worse than the situation he was in. The transformed before him was not in his final phase. The creature had not yet lost his human form. There was something in its neck, which made Yuki fall into horror. A small silver cross with a dragon wrapped around it flashed before Yuki’s eyes. He recognized it immediately. There was no way he could be wrong. There were only two of them in the world. One was on his neck and the other was on his ... sister.
- “Yuki! Are you okay?” - Michael grabbed his shoulders and shook him.
- “Sis…Sister ...” - That was the only word that came out of his mouth.
He was like a statue. He didn’t even blink. Tears started dripping from his eyes. Michael's eyes widened. He lowered his hands and slowly stood up. He turned around and looked at the creature he had killed ... he saw the little cross on its neck. A loud sound echoed in Michael’s ears and for a few seconds he heard nothing around himself. He had the feeling that his heart had just been cut into small pieces... Understanding who he had killed Michael just bit his lips strongly, not letting out even a moan. His memories of Leyla began to pass like a tape in his head ... he realized more and more that he would never see his fiancée anymore. The love of his life was not...
The sound of a sword dragging on the ground brought him back to reality. He looked around and saw Yuki dragging one of the training swords. Without looking down, he stopped and took another sword that was stuck in the ground. It was hard enough for Yuki to raise even one of them, but he even took a second one. He was heading for the others who were fighting. Michael began to think if Yuki wanted to be killed too. Or was he going to fight? No, it was impossible. Yuki had never shown he had any fighting skills. Even when Yuki was training with him. Certainly a little boy can’t do much. If Yuki thought it would be like training, he was cruelly mistaken. These creatures were even stronger than an adult angel.
- “Yuki!!” - Michael took his sword and ran after the little one. Yuki turned his head back, and even through the tears Michael saw the hatred he felt right now. Michael stopped in one place.
- “Yuki?” - The little one knew in his head that there was no one at fault. But it was different in his heart. He had to get this anger out or he would go crazy. Yuki’s eyes disappeared behind a wall of feathers. For the first time, Michael could see the little one showing his wings. Only his sister Leyla had seen them. Beautiful and big gray wings.
There were other children who fell in horror and were completely defenseless. Most of them shrugged off their initial fear and were crying for help now. Michael heard the shouts and looked in the direction from which they came. He looked away from Yuki for a few seconds to make sure the children who shouted were all right. When he looked again Yuki was gone from the spot he was standing on. But now it was not time to be distracted. As he saved one of the children, he had to make his way to another. Not to mention that he couldn’t see Yuki at all. At the moment he was the most important one for him.
The gray wings were a rare sight here, but he could not see them anymore. Thinking that every child was taken outside, he went to the big group of monsters. The others had somehow managed to take them to one of the corners of the hall. And as far away from the exit as it could. As he ran to them he heard another child’s scream between the roars of the monsters. He turned his head, but it was too late. The monster was already swinging its huge slimy limb to hit it ... Everyone thought the same thing: "The boy is a goner...“.
The boy closed his eyes, expecting to be dead. There was silence for a few seconds. The boy timidly opened his eyes again. He could not believe it. Most likely he had fainted and now he was just dreaming. He wanted it to be like that, but it was not. What stood before him was real. In front of him, Yuki had blocked the attack with the swords he had previously taken. At the moment, the only thing that stood between this mad, mindless creature and the boy was Yuki and his swords.
The rolling the two swords one into the other and the claws trying to break them - that sound was disgusting. The tension rose with every second. Each of the warriors in the field bet that Yuki wouldn’t last for more than a few more seconds. Even what Yuki had done now seemed impossible. The lives of both boys were in great danger. Despite his tiny body and his age, Yuki would have done it. Michael sincerely believed he wasn’t mistaken with his judgment. Thanks not only to his angels power, but also to the demons one Yuki could fight these beings like an adult warrior, but no one in the room knew that.
The moment Yuki managed to repel the monster's paw it pierced the creature right in the heart. He whispered something and then pulled out the swords. He stared at it until the enormous scourge fell to the ground. He glanced over his shoulder at the boy, who was about to lose consciousness. Then he looked at Michael who was running toward them. He was surprised not only by the power Yuki had, but also by his's wings. Michal already knew why he couldn’t find Yuki until now. His wings changed their color. Until Yuki pierced the monster with his swords his wings were snowy white, and after that they became raven black.
- “Go to hell, junk ... I hated this place from the beginning, but I will not bear it anymore. I'm sick of all. You will pay for what you have done to my sister ...” - Yuki murmured in Latin under his nose, but the boy who was sitting behind him, and the very one who always had harassed him, heard his words. Even if Yuki didn’t take his gaze off from Michael, it was very clear to whom those words were said for. Yuki didn’t even look at him. He just went for his next pray. One by one the frightening creatures died from Yuki’s hands and the other angels. When the battle ended, Yuki stood in one place and dismissed his wings. Then he lost consciousness and fell to the floor. >>
- “Hey, wake up. You can’t sleep here.” - The voice of a little girl echoed in Yuki’s mind. Although he was terribly exhausted, he slowly opened his eyes. He blinked several times until his eyes became clear. It wasn’t his imagination.
The voice was real, but as to how much it’s the owner was, was questionable. A little girl stood before him. - “Good boy. You can’t rest here. Come on, it's time to get up.”
Though obviously she was small, her words were very encouraging. It did not sound like a toddler at all, but on the contrary. She was like an adult. Her words encouraged him. Yuki listened to her. Little by little he managed to get on his feet. There was a feeling that something heavy had jumped on him. Every part of his body ached. Even breathing required him a lot of efforts.
- “Who are you? Are you real or I’m just losing my common sense.” - she just smiled at him. – “You should not be real. But if you are ... why is a little girl like you is here?” - She was obviously no more than six or seven years old. She had raven black, medium-length hair and green eyes, like a cat. She shook her head for no, and pointed something in the fog, and quickly disappeared in the direction she had just pointed.
- “Wait! What do you mean?! Please do not leave!” - There was no point in wasting his energy shouting. Obviously, he couldn’t even catch her. At the moment, the only thing that was keeping him alive was the little energy he had left. Yuki had to save as much as possible from it. Feeling a little better, he moved forward. Even the increasing pain would not stop him from reaching his goal.
He was ready to fight with teeth and nails. The fog in front of him began to dissipate. He could already see a farther than a foot in front of him. He looked around and remained a little surprised. Normally he expected to see only crosses and graves, but instead he saw ruins of old buildings. The stones he had seen earlier were probably also from such buildings.
Beautiful even in this miserable state, they were popping one after another. They were ordered like a puzzle. Between the buildings there were large and small pieces covered with mold and moss. It looked like a city built centuries ago, and immersed in oblivion. It must have been built and abandoned before it was declared a sacred cemetery. Or maybe it was done afterwards. What had happened to the civilization here?
He remembered that while he was in the Sky kingdom, he had read about this cemetery. The information he had access to, was little but he still managed to learn the most important things. It was a place where no living creature could walk into. Even normal people were afraid, and only a few came to the Cemetery, calling it cursed. No one dared to get closer when he had seen it once.
- “What is going on here? This can’t be true.” - Looking around, he didn’t see a spirit or a wandering soul. According to the stories of his ancestors and the records of the Sky kingdom, there were supposed to be thousands of souls here. But now it was empty like a desert. No matter how much he walked around and looked there was nothing. Was he wrong? Was this not the hearth? If the answer to these questions was negative, then where was the true location of the cemetery’s core?
- “Can I be wrong? But ... no, it’s impossible. I'm sure this is the place. I went through the shadows and I survived. If I had died, my soul had to leave this place and I wouldn’t remember anything. What the hell's going on here!” - The last one he screamed. He was furious at himself. If he had read more, if he had found more information. Yuki was wrong to go in here not knowing more, but he was in danger of getting caught if he had digged more information.
What if he wasn’t so badly injured and had more strength? Would everything be okay? Would he be able to see the spirits? Where were they? He repeated in his head that everything was going to be all right. The spirits are here. He just hadn’t found them yet. Yeah ... that was probably the reason he did not see them yet. He was too far away. Yuki kept looking and looking. But there was still nothing. Certainly something was wrong with him.
- “As long as you keep staring, you will not see anyone. The rules are different here, Little Demon.” – The little girl's voice he had heard earlier! Yuki turned around and she was there standing behind him.
