Chapter 2
The episode is not about political, rather social problem of homophobia, not only in military, but in society of any country in general. Tae had to marry, JK had to lie about having a girlfriend, cause his coming out will not let him serve and rise through the ranks. Sad reality.
Jungkook is missing his baby boy.
Episode is important to show that JK stayed loyal to
Tae, even despite the break up, he couldn't forget him (guess he got that sort of demisexual nature too). Every time he needed physical intimacy, he imagined him to relieve the tension.
He didn't want anybody else, only Tae.
This part is about JK becoming emotionally stronger and more independent. He loved Tae secretly, from distance and the pain of it somehow strengthened him just like the training made him physically firm. I wanted to give him an expression sort of "pics of my baby? suck my d" ^^
I introduced new side characters: 1) Tae's wife in lavender marriage: Park Chaeyoung aka Rose, 2) Tae's best friend: Park Jimin (in this AU I made him a brother of Rose, so it happened that Tae married the sister of his friend, well, his parents wanted him to do so). E
Both aren't bad characters at all. Though I won't focus the story on them, but I'm saying there will be no villains in this story. It's just life.
Again, 'beard' is a slang for lavender marriage, when gay people marry in hetero marriage not because of love, but to hide their sexuality. There's no real feelings or relationships. In this case Tae's wife knew he was gay and that he had a man.
Why Chaeyoung asked JK to stop talking to Tae is because she was scared that Tae's family might get to know about it and it'll be a really bad outcome. I won't spoiler much, but apparently Tae's parents wouldn't accept his sexuality, like the majority of parents wouldn't, sadly. C
While Jimin just worried about his best friend, who wouldn't? Tae was sad, unwell, physically and emotionally he was broken - he hated the life of a 'normal man' and... he missed JK so much. But Jimin thought JK was hurting Tae, that's why he kindly asked him to be careful.
The whole situation made JK feel guilt. He knew he broke up with Tae and he wasn't supposed to talk to him. He thought he was the reason of Tae's sadness and distress and that it would be better to end everything
I can't tell which one of them is stronger, bearing and enduring all this pain... I guess both of them are, no matter what, I'm still proud of these two boys <3
Soulmates.
This part 9. Stigma is a flashback that reveals the reason why Tae had to marry. He had grown up in a typical heterosexual family that supports traditional values. Two portraits on the walls speak of the idea that marriage and family is only between a man and a woman. It's a sad reality.

Being Asian myself I'd tell that in Asian culture every son is deemed a heir and successor. In conservative families every son should follow his parent's will, disobeying parents would be called "losing face" - losing honor and respect, which will put shame on the whole kin.
A very heartbreaking art for me. It's not just about toxicity of gender norms, but also about bullying and childhood trauma as a result. Girls are told to be women and feminine. Boys are told to be men and masculine. And whoever is different will be shamed.
